I never hitchhiked. I do agree with you that assuming someone else will take a chance of picking them up will weigh on a conscience, it has on mine. People are resorting to online shopping and the biggest entity is Amazon. In 2020 their sales were 386 Billion. Since I retired I don't do much shopping but I do resort to Amazon for gifts and things that I "think" need.
