All I can say is.. I have worked around hundreds of really old folks in the nursing home.. and I sure as hell do not look forwards to my 80s + years.
but with the given choices..

I would rather live to 100 than to not be living I think

Thank God I havent had anything that serious..Thats just it, some people have such severe pain that no surgery or pain meds work. short of knocking them completely out.

I think pretty much the same. do not like to take any kind of meds, but I especially do not like to be high.

The guy learns a much harder lesson and pays for most of the rest of his life... CAN'T AFFORD TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!!

For as many stupid things I have done over the years,, I feel lucky

When I was at my Dr. appointment a 2 years ago, in the waiting room I met and had a long chat with a early 20s girl there that had been hit by a drunk driver.
she was in a wheelchair, had broken both knee caps, lower legs and both heels.. I felt so lucky with my *now minor* injury and was almost in tears for her.. knowing how much she had to be suffering.

Had a horse fall on me years ago and was badly hurt, never took any pain meds.
2 years ago..broke my heel and had to have a plate put in, only took oxycodone (sp) for 2 days. still have a full bottle.
then a year later had the plate removed.. only took one pill that night.

But no telling what older age or injury could bring.

I feel for those that have to stay stoned to survive each day.

There is no right or wrong answer here, everyone is different.
some can take the pain and some can't..

Myself.. agree with you...I just don't like drugs.

Their battered bodies have all been discovered in rural areas on the outskirts of this small town. Ipswich is the county town of Suffolk, on the east coast of England (not very far from London).

A man has been arrested in connection with the murders of a mother and her three children. The thirty-six year-old was arrested at Heathrow Airport this morning. He was leaving an incoming flight from Bangkok, Thailand.

It is believed that the man arrested is Rahan Arshad, the husband and father of the victims. He is expected to be taken to Manchester, England for questioning later today.

The bodies of thirty-two year-old Uzma Rahan and her three children were found in their home in Cheadle Hulme in Greater Manchester on August 20. Police think the four bodies had been there for up to four weeks.

NAPLES, Italy -- Art students in Naples have produced a map locating recent murders by the Camorra to underscore the local mafia’s deadly presence in the southern Italian city, one of the organisers said Friday. “Our aim is to denounce the grip of the mafia on our city,” Orazio Manzo told AFP. The fold-out map pinpoints the sites of some 40 murders attributed to the Camorra mafia between 2005 and 2007, giving the victims’ names and the times and dates of their deaths.

5. Teenage binge drinking linked to serious crimes
[28th March 2008]
A survey in the North-West of England has found that teenagers are drinking an average of 44 bottles of wine or 177 pints of beer each per year.

Recent murders in the region were committed by young people who had been drinking excessive amounts of alcohol. This week a 15-year old was convicted of murdering Sophie Lancaster, after drinking two litres of cider, peach schnapps and beer.

6. Police in North Yorkshire are due to question a man who has been arrested on suspicion of two double murders.
Mark Hobson, 34, was arrested on Sunday following a week-long manhunt, after buying matches at a petrol station before the owner tipped off police.

It is understood he spent the night in hospital with an abdominal injury.

Police are due to begin questioning him about the murders of twin sisters Claire and Diane Sanderson, as well as pensioners James and Joan Britton.
