the usa was spending massive on army. there was no competition. don't blame to EU for saying in a time of separate countries to go to hell with armies. the UK followed and failed. some lame as countries got the quick ride. USA was leading, the rest was getting or stealing or making a niche market. this is the world of all markets. and still the usa lost in a lot of fields.
the usa also had the international benefits of it. collapsing governments. and profit and terror and power. not to mention the Hollywood deals and propaganda. :-)
