What rules? Schengen was suspended by Germany first! Merkel invited all ME wthout consulting anyone! Sweden had done that even earlier.
Schengen was not well thought out anyway, you cannot give the responsbility to the countries in the South and have them bear all the grunt of the immigration or protecting the outside borders of EU without defining excatly who will do what, how, when to actually protect the common borders. Schengen was considered only in terms of economy not defence/security, whch was a collosal mistake.
I have read the article, these people (EU politicians) live in a bubble, they have no clue about what the reality is like.
One of the quotes form the article: "If you build a fence, it's the end of Europe as we know it," one senior conservative said. "We need to be patient."
It is what we talked about before: they all hope everything will sort itself out! Patient and wait for what? Another million or 2 or 5 to come in?
It is ridiculous that they still talk about those quota, 160.000 vs. more than a million that are already here!
Germany threatening they will close the border and the rest will be in chaos - of course we will, why doesn't bloody Merkel finally announce no one can come to Germany? She issued the invitation and she should take it back! There will be chaos anyway because of her, so it is not up to Germany to threaten and badmouth the others for not being ready to accept any of her "babies".
As for Schengen and EURO, seems to me it is yet another threat to the EE countries. I cannot see the direct connection as Shengen encompasses more countries than the Euro zone. Plus there has been no Schengen since September, Well there have been no borders as these masses of ME men just keep on going regardless.
The most stupid is that Germany still believes Erdogan will save them from the influx of masses - yeah sure let us gve him more money, poor thing has lost millions because the Russians (how dare they???) cut off their access to cheap ISIS oil.
At the very beginning of the immigrant flow when I started posting here in the forum, I said Germany would eventually close her borders and the small countries, like mine, will be in big trouble - I hate to be right, but I am.
I believe Obs is partly right - the WE somehow believe everything itself out, many still think they got cheap labor, but I don't think they are aware that this could also mean cheap products. They are somehow convinced that they can have a cake and eat it too.
I haven't read the article, will do it now. Ah, remember how long we have been sayng this will be the end of Europe?
Anyway, I have a feeling that will be yet another meeting with no tangible results - EU is so good at not taking important decisions, they are too busy dealing with trifles like the shape of cucumbers
Hm, never thought about Serbia, been to Belgrade only. I guess there must be nice places there, probably similar to Bulgaria, know a Brit that went to live there.
I still think Croatia id nicer, especially the coast - it is not as commercialized as in Spain, Greece, pretty much as the Mediterranean once was - which is what their commercial says.
A particularly nice areas are the little towns near Split, Sibenik and Zadar. Check out the Kornati islands, beautiful!
The leftwing US academic Noam Chomsky has hit back at Recep Tayyip Erdogan after the Turkish president accused him of ignorance and sympathising with terrorists.
In his email to the Guardian, Chomsky accused Erdogan of hypocrisy. He said: “Turkey blamed Isis [for the attack on Istanbul], which Erdogan has been aiding in many ways, while also supporting the al-Nusra Front, which is hardly different. He then launched a tirade against those who condemn his crimes against Kurds – who happen to be the main ground force opposing Isis in both Syria and Iraq. Is there any need for further comment?”
To remind you: in the same post you mentioned Delors, you were scornful of the "new countries", that was the reason I mentioned France and especially her farmers, as the EU budget for agriculture is the biggest.
It is the politicians that do not know where their place is! The ordinary people, at the least the ones I know, we know that we belong to EE and that is where we should be.
Anyways, if we hadn't sucked up to Germany/Brussels, we wouldn't be in the mess we are right now with the so called refugees.
Again Babette it seems that you don't know what you are talking about.
It was France that insisted on accepting Romania and Bulgaria in the package with the rest that joined in 2004. Slovenia was economically stronger than some of the old memebers, do your homework. The main goal in joining both NATO nd the EU for SLovenia at that time was a naive belief that we would be protected, especially militarily.
The French farmers are the ones that benefit veeeeery much from the EU.
If it had been up to me, we would never have joined!
Yes, short-term vs. long-term benefits. Frankly, many here cannot even see any short-term benefits, there aren't any.
Our politicians have been too weak to stand up to Merkel and stupid Juncker the same way the other EE countries have. The real reason for this is in the mentality: Slovenians do not see themselves as part of the Balkan (nor EE), but we are not WE either.
Why do we feel we are different? Most probable reasons lie in the former Yugoslavia: - the Slovenians were the ones with the German(Austrian)-like working habits (got them from living under the Austrian rule for centuries) - Slovenia was the richest part, - the Slovenian language is clearly different from Serbian/Croatian / Bosnian - because of the language/mentality the Serbs sort of "let" SLovenia leave Yugoslavia
When SLO joined EU we had higher GDP than some of the old states so our politicians did not even want to be in the Visegrad group - it is now that ordinary people (not all!) are getting to their senses and see that you need to belong to a group within the EU, and for us it is the EE countries. Our politicians obviously feel it is better to be Germany's pawn.
As for Sweden: they may be needing the workforce, but the people they are importing DO NOT WANT to work - they don't participate in the workworce and live off welfare benefits. So, a weird way of getting workers The same goes for Germans.
And obviously this is not the result of drunken men not knowing what they are doing - this has been planned, something that the Finnish police said, as they had been informed of these plans before the NYE incidents.
It is getting worse and worse, seems like they feel there is no one they should fear:
HUGE RIOT in German nightclub after 500 immigrants break in and grope women
January 9, 2016|
Die Welt reports that the “Elephant club“, a nightclub in the city of Bielefeld, was attacked by an organized mob of about 500 immigrant men.
Nightclub bouncers phoned the police when the mob became aggressive and started throwing fireworks, but before the police could arrive, the mob broke into the nightclub and then started to grope the groins and chests of female visitors.
One of the men who stopped the mob of immigrants from groping said “Only by using physical violence, we could help women to break free.”
When police arrived a full-blown riot had broken out.
A police spokesman said the “aggressiveness of the men involved in relation to the security services was considerable.”
Rioting had been reported in the city, but German mass media had tried to cover up the extent of the riots, and the reason why they broke out.
An anonymous member of the EU’s security organizations criticized how this is being ignored by politicians.
“Nobody will admit Brussels policy is inherently linked to what happened in Cologne – they will not welcome such a link” he said.
The people in charge of the EU have been trying to “diversify” Europe with all these Arab and African immigrants. For some reason they want to get rid of Europe’s White majority.Everyone has their own ideas as to why they would want to do this, but the one thing we can say conclusively, is that their agenda is in breach of the UN genocide conventions – it is White genocide, and “diversity” or “multiculturalism” are the just code words they use to carry out this agenda.
