In my opinion, starting a rumor for entertainment/comedy isn't funny to me at all. What one person (the rumor starter) may find funny can be very damaging to the person who the rumor is about. I think that's called "bullying".
It's a fact, that in the real world/virtual, rumors are commonly started for whatever reason.
A rumor is gossiping about something or someone that is NOT fact checked, simply gossip.
What do you do when you hear a rumor? Do you fact fact check, do you continue spreading it, or do you simply just stay away from it and not get involved with it all and mind your own business?
Why do you think are some reasons why someone would start a rumor?
It is cold, overcast and windy here. No snow or rain although we always need but rarely get any as we are in dessert. The mountains get snow but rarely in the city, if it does happen to snow in the city, it doesn't stick very long.
I understand what you mean but when abusers break you down they do it to brainwash them into thinking poorly about themselves, the abuser takes away their self-worth, dignity, confidence, etc so that the abused actually begins to feel unworthy of loving themselves and/or that they believe they cannot be loved by anyone else. The abuser does this because they want total control of every aspect of the abused. It's very difficult for some people to gain the strength and courage to escape from the situation. Often times, it takes many years to recover and they may require years of therapy so that they can regain all their qualities before they found themselves sucked in to such a dysfunctional situation. The abuser does not show their true colors in the very beginning.
