RE: the word "Dear"

......They would end up costing us 'dear' if we fell for their nauseating rubbish...laugh

"jihadi brides'..... so much for British Border Control......

...yes indeed...I am sure that once they reached Istanbul somebody was waiting to bring them across the border into Syria.....as they were so young though i think alarm bells should have rang in Gatwick.....

"jihadi brides'..... so much for British Border Control......

....I must be mistaken about this so.....just did not realise that it was possible.....

"jihadi brides'..... so much for British Border Control......

I just would have thought that 15 year olds would have needed consent forms signed by their parents....seemingly all three were only 15 and one managed to use her 17 year old sister's passport....

"jihadi brides'..... so much for British Border Control......

hi yubba... I totally agree with you....like all politicians they are great at being reactive instead of being proactive before things happen....

"jihadi brides'..... so much for British Border Control......

exactly QU!... I was wondering that as well....seemingly they are from very well off families and must have had money themselves.....confused

"jihadi brides'..... so much for British Border Control......

Most of us have probably seen one of the 'Nothing to Declare' type programmes on tv from time to time.....in a lot of instances it involves people having undeclared food or, of course, smuggling drugs......airport security always comes across as being very thorough....I just find it unbelievable that three young girls, supposedly only about 15 (one travelling on her sister's passport) were allowed to board a flight at Gatwick airport bound for Istanbul totally unaccompanied without any red flag being raised....?...all airport employees should, at this stage anyway, be aware that Turkey is a gateway to Syria......my goodness if you did not declare a sandwich you had in you luggage they would nearly arrest you!.... Anybody got any opinions on this?... Just wondering.....

RE: Why so dead, forum

....hi Chris....a few new people can't be a bad thing....it is'nt as easy as it seems to people like yourself who have been here for a while and everybody knows each other well and can joke and have a laugh.....new people should be encouraged to join in or would you prefer if the same people interacted just with each other the entire time?handshake

RE: Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin AKA Writing On The Wall

i think that in the early stages of a relationship from dating to falling in love people are usually so blissfully happy that they only see the good points of the other person.....there are lots of romantic nights, weekends away etc so it is easy to always be in good form and we think that things are always going to be a bed of roses....it is only when, if the relationship develops further, real life takes over with, perhaps, mortgages, children, all sorts of responsibilities that the gloss can go off things a bit.....unfortunately when things go sour it is very often in our nature to think that it is the other person's fault and not anything to do with ourselves....jmo...

RE: Do you subdue CRYING emotions, during a friend's or relative's funeral???

......no Chris.....my children knew exactly how sad i was......i was not bawling crying in front of them because i needed to be strong to comfort them......we spent many many hours talking about things afterwards......we cry and laugh together at every opportunity looking at old home videos that their dad was in.......we never forget him.....handshake

RE: Sir Winston Churchill...

always heard the story about the lady who met him at a party one night......anyway, she supposedly said to him "Mr Churchill you are excessively drunk!".... He replied " my dear lady...i may be drunk but you are ugly and i am going to be sober tomorrow"....rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Do you subdue CRYING emotions, during a friend's or relative's funeral???

i will never forget the tears of my 4 children the day of their dad's funeral....he was only 36 and they were aged between 5 and 11..... I found it so difficult to cope with their pain......all i could do was stay strong for them so i tried my best not to make things worse for them by crying my heart out in front of them.....

Do some people deliberately have large families in order to increase their social welfare payments?

....i know of a good few families living in a town near me who have 7/8/9 kids and whose parents have never worked......i must say the kids are not neglected in some ways in that they are the ones who always have the most expensive trainers and clothes, televisions in every room, mobile phones etc....their parents know that if the day ever came when their children might go to 3rd level the state will foot the bill for that as well..... As Tru and Molly said it was the norm long ago for families to have 10/12 children but people worked very, very hard to rear them......

Do some people deliberately have large families in order to increase their social welfare payments?

you are so right serene......per usual it is always the children who miss out....and it becomes a learned behaviour....

Do some people deliberately have large families in order to increase their social welfare payments?

my apologies for not posting a thread that you would be interested in.....must try harder....

Do some people deliberately have large families in order to increase their social welfare payments?

not really looking for a solution as people have free will to do as they please.....its just that i dont think it is a healthy attitude to have as children need so much attention and encouragement it must be difficult to rear so many......i would just hope that they are not being used as a way of increasing the income into the home...jmo

Do some people deliberately have large families in order to increase their social welfare payments?

I sometimes notice that people who can least afford to often have large families......i saw an article a few weeks ago about a lady in England who is expecting her 12th child at 32 year's of age with her 3rd partner....supposedly they have to rely on social welfare payments to live.....that is fair enough as it is not the children's fault but it must be virtually impossible to give the amount of attention and encouragement needed to so many young children.....do you think that there are some people who will do anything to get as much money from the state as possible without having to earn it themselves?....

Does it worry you if your partner is a really goodlooking fella/lady?...

now that i do believe Dan......one of the nicest gentleman here....handshake

Does it worry you if your partner is a really goodlooking fella/lady?...

Just to finish K (this phone is a nightmare!!)... sorry)...no, i just mean that there are so many temptations out there is it easier for the really goodlooking/fanciable to be tempted...

Does it worry you if your partner is a really goodlooking fella/lady?...

Just wondering if we are lucky enough to find our ideal fanciable man/woman who is gorgeous in every way......would we ever think that somebody better looking than ourselves would steal them away from us?..... After all, if we think they are gorgeous so will loads of other men/women.....

RE: ONLY FOR LADIES

....why?.. Is a woman's role to 'CATER' to a man?....confused
