Tru & Gal pretty much answered your post with the exception of Gals remark about the schools & churches. That needs verification . "I never heard that from the English" - I'm assuming primary school kids in England weren't taught the history of their forefathers actions in other countries, whereas Irish kids learned Irish history.
How would anyone here know what you done wrong? Did you ask him before you came here looking for sympathy? Was he your ex before he shouted at you? Seeing as you were going on first dates last month.
