Gut feeling is quite often a good indicator because it's a way of assessing a situation without relying on emotion which usually is a result of an activated complex and consequently unreliable.
Indeed...but peoples 'outlook' can be changed for the better regardless of life experiences. It's not easy, but given the right guidance a negative thinking person can learn to turn things around and view the world from a totally different perspective seeing their glass as half full instead of half empty.
I think wisdom does come with age. I remember asking my son when he was very young did he know what wisdom was. He answered, "I'm not sure but I think it's something to do with teeth."
Maybe it's time for some clarification from admin although we rarely hear from them these days. I do remember their last post on this subject though where they stated "do not post a controversial thread unless you are prepared to use the ban/hide options." I think the ban option is a good feature when used sensibly, the hide option though just doesn't work at all. I have only used the ban button once when a poster entered the thread and began abusing other posters. I did warn him first but to no avail. I believe on that occasion it nipped the unpleasantness in the bud...that is what I think the ban button is for.
So how would drug testing people on benefits affect these people you are so worked up about?
And what about the out of work piss poor who can't get a job who's only little pleasure in life is the odd spliff to help them through their miserable existence...stop their benefits, let them starve? Or more likely force them into a life of crime to survive.
