Did you know that Chilliwack has managed to get their albums released on CD now? I bought Anthology not too long ago, with my favourite Chilliwack song on it.....Lonesome Mary.
I can't name one favourite old song. Not a one...just way, way too many of them. In-gadda-da-vida by Iron Butterfly was good. Another good song from that album was Flowers And Beads.
I understood what you were meaning. And yes, I would agree in some situations a clarification of your relationship is necessary.
On the other hand, as far as society in general is concerned and their expectations, (just my opinion), is that it is none of their business. Call him your friend and that pretty much leaves them to make all the assumptions they want and puts you in control of who and what you tell. I look at it from the point of view that our relationships with other people are ours, not societies.
Last person I was in a relationship with, I made no reference to them other than their name. Everybody else referred to her as 'my friend'. I do understand the situation, society needs everything pigeonholed.
But, it is really up to you and what you feel comfortable with. That is the real way to go.
Maybe because it is such a common occurrence nobody talks about it much. I have lived in a house that was haunted. Nobody outside of the small village I lived in knew and it was not a big deal. That is maybe why you have never heard of it, it is just very common.
UFO's are reported worldwide all the time and about 5% of them are unexplained.
I have to work.... But at least I will be part of the driving force behind the economic engine of the nation and making a tax contribution that will go to services to help us all. However, in reality, it will probably line the the pockets of some politician instead.
Okay, okay. I can be thankful I got called back from my lay off. Happy Thanksgiving Canuks!
But you forgot something else. With all that, your still single and can't spell even with spell check. And you never read the book " How to make friends and influence people.".
Now what would be wrong with a nice electrically charged female over the age of 45? First: it would probably light up my life, second: set the night on fire...( like Jim Morrison was saying ), you know...come on baby light my fire. Third: there would be no need for lights cause we would have the glow in the dark factor. And, they wouldn't even have to lower their standards.
This might catch on and be a new fad or something. Electrically charged, glow in the dark, fire lighting females over the age of 45. Could be fun!
What is interesting is that when Ronald Regan, a republican took office, the US national debt was 1 trillion dollars.
Since then, there had been George Bush, Bill Clinton, George W Bush. The Republicans have held office for 20 years, the Democrats for 8 years. The US national debt now stands at 9-10 trillion dollars.
Yes, your quite right. That is changing though because Canadian companies are expanding globally. Which is something they haven't done in the past. Also, even in this economic recession, we haven't been hit anywhere near as hard as the US. Our banking system is still intact. I work in a mine, we used to ship copper ore to the United States. We now ship it all to China. This country has a lot more raw materials that a commodity starved economy like China needs. That intertwined economy is getting less and less all the time.
Many of our companies list their stock on two exchanges, TSX and DAX which is the German exchange in Frankfurt. Why not the NYSE? Those days are over.
As far as the private bankers lending us back our money, that is only in the US, not Canada. Our taxes go straight to Revenue Canada which is the federal government. Yours goes to the Federal Reserve which lends it back to your government with interest.
And if they decided to liquidate that debt, because the US is still the largest economy, it would affect more than just Canada and the United States as we have just seen with this last economic recession. Just the fact they have that debt is scary.
But it changes nothing. China will be the largest economy and the people of the United States really need to have a look at changes that need to happen to make it viable again. Reform and maybe some of the things Obama is saying are not all that bad. It will have to come eventually anyway. His health care for one thing might not be a bad idea if done correctly. Just an example, my medical is paid for by my employer and with union benefits I have extended health so get my prescriptions for only 7 or 8 Canuck bucks. I can go into any hospital, see any doctor anywhere in the country and be covered. My employer pays my medical premium of 54 dollars a month. And that is all. Yes, government run, no corporations involved, no earnings profits, shareholders or anything like that. Everybody has it, young, old, in between. Nobody has to pay thousands of dollars for health care. Maybe health care reform is not such a bad idea. After all, many countries point to our health care system and say " We want what they got.".
I agree with you, but there is a bigger picture here. One that everybody in North America needs to look at. Nationalism, as proud as we are of our countries no matter our political leanings, needs to be set aside. And you can't forget Mexico, they have the tequila. But really, is spending billions of dollars on overseas projects the best way to go? Or spending those billions of dollars on the American people a better idea? Governments have one thing about them they do good....they lie. And that is all they do good.
Political office....did think of it actually. But not today.
Sorry, I am not paranoid and see boogeymen under every rock, behind every tree, lurking in every subway.
...mean while, 8 years later...the world is waiting...and waiting and waiting. Keep looking....they are there....but we aren't going to tell you where they are.
RE: great old songs..what's your fav?
