Now, far be it for me to take issue with a Barrister ( ), and certainly one who is my intellectual superior ( ), but I have to agree with the comment that was made regarding decency and poses...very much.

It leaves me wondering ...although naturally I wouldn't judge the individual based on that mere sliver of observation alone.

Rasgumby is one of the most benign and principled posters we have on CS right now...why attack him?

Picking out with a view to attacking is one thing...but 'picking out' with a view to defending is completely another.

Koni's thread premise was one of scrutinizing America...she has a right to do this of course...and face the consequences.

But her freedom of expression is sacrosanct. Surely any defence of free speech is above reproach?

America is the same as most other highly developed countries, it's just that because it's so powerful and active on the world stage, it comes under the microscope more often, and it's internal problems are thus magnified.

Why? Because it sets itself high standards, and when failure to reach those self set standards becomes obvious, it's deemed as being hypocritical and of having double standards, rather than having reached out for something better and fallen short in the process.

The people are cool in general...the leadership much less so. But ain't that pretty much the case everywhere?

The UK, historically, has done far more damage the world over with it's well known imperialistic pretentions.
