We live in a consumer society and that consumerism seems to have polluted how we view potential partners and relationships.
We're too damn fussy...too selfish...too focussed on 'self'.
And we're afraid. Hell, who can blame us!
We've all seen bad relationships and the damage they cause...maybe a few of us have experienced them first hand...as kids...as husband and wife?
So fear is there...and fear stops us from trusting...and trusting your potential mate is everything...critical.
Basically, the cycle has been broken...marriage is now seen as cheap...disposable...re-newable.
In the UK, we buy more new cars than anywhere else in Europe. We also have the biggest divorce rate.
Even though it ain't broken and irreparable, it seems we just love to go get a new one!
Of course there's grounds for breaking from an abusive partner...I've seen this first hand.
But in the main, the abuses are self inflicted...and they stem from laziness and stoopidity.
Like all things, the recipe for success is sooooo mind numbingly simple it's often overlooked. It costs nothing as well.
Bargain or what!
When I get married, it'll be simple...modest...humble, and focus on the seriousness of the commitment. No expensive rings...that's a waste.
It's about two hearts...two best friends...and one goal. And the good example you can set will help all those who see you together to trust and give fearlessly to their husbands and wives when they choose to commit to somebody.
Seriously, and I know this sounds sad...but hell, we can all have our indulgences...but if any prospective woman of mine didn't like Pink Floyd...she'd either have to face a pretty rapid educational course...or pack her bags.
