There are a lot of obvious reasons and they've been mentioned and I have hinted at the real reason but no one has specifically deliniated the biblical correlation of these two not so random variables.

there is a HUGE difference between socialism and SOCIAL JUSTICE.
in fact big business, mr republican, is fascism at its finest, big guys at the top with all the money, little guys at the bottom scraping out a living being deluded into believing they have the same chance to make it big in america.
Under Bush's plan 91% of the wealth under his watch went to 5% of americans( the already rich), a mere 9% was spread amongst the rest of americans.
never going to happen... these people whether in office or not, control money, wars, and social dogma. Just try being agnostic and running for ANY office and see how far you get. Running without a fake god and or some form of "christian" side kick is suicide. Also the "party" selects who runs and they will, because they choose that person, never look outside their religious bigotry to endorse a non believer.
Untill god and religion die, no such thing is possible. History proves.
I don't think so T ... You may be right in part; but, A lot more people are ruled by fear. Heaven and hell is the fear. Final judgement is the fear. I have known people who when close to death alll of a sudden find the urge to believe or become christian just to make sure they don't go to hell. Quite sad really. And then there are people, like alcoholics, drug addicts and people who have done some bad things in their lives, looking for redemption, so they stick the label on themselves hoping it wipes out their moral injustices. All said and done they haven't a clue what christianity is based in or on.
ya the newer it gets the more edited it is, has more control mechanisms, it's cultism at its finest...but still, its one thing to be christian, another to read the bibles and quite another to comprehend it.
I think there's a lot of pretend christians around here and people who have no idea about their bible at all, they're just believers hedging their bets so they don't go to hell...
oh ya that thing... it always points forward though, sometimes thats not always a good thing, like when the door is closed in the dark and you think its open but its not and then smash... your face is ok, but fark me, the fire down below ....
I should be clear, this isn't about demeaning the jewish people or pointing any fingers at them at all. Its about the political religious significance of the protection of Isreal.
I'm assuming you haven't read the bible. Parts of what you note play a role; but, there's a clearly explained reason in the bible that deliniates why right wing christian bulletheads value Isreal.
There is wealth there but there's more wealth outside Isreal - simply as a matter of geography.
Anyone understand the religious political significance of the U.S. and right wing christian fanatics need to protect Isreal in their quest for power?
I'm willing to bet there's not a bible exponent here, perhaps anywhere, who fully understands the implications of this alliance. Unless they're republicans
