Yes Christmas is commercialised and it is for the kids but i have a little one (who is too young to understand yet) and i also live in Lapland, home of Santa!!!!!!!!
New Year has always been a sad time of year for me. Cant seem to get my head around looking forward and spend the evening reflecting on the year passed.
But once the evening has passed I am ok.
So for me its got to be the big man in the red suit. After all, I know where he lives!!
Sorry if this kind of thread already been done but i am still a bit new to all this.
Anyway, I have always found New Year to be a tad depressing. It makes me think about loved ones not near me, friends may have lost and just generally all the bad things that have happened.
This year for me I have to say qualifies as being worst in my life. Husband abandoned me and my baby, been fighting the system in 2 countries to get back on my feet. Still getting there but things looking up.
I will be glad to see the back of this year but it still doesnt help tonight and my reflections on everything.
I am looking forward to making new friends on here but just wondered if any of you feel the same.
I did travel and stayed there. Of course they say life is a bxxxx and then you marry one. well i did that, got the t-shirt etc and it didnt work out. So i am not sure i would want to travel initially as i have little boy to consider, but i wouldnt stop someone travelling to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just does seem like a few women on here taking things far far to seriously. I will probably get a slating from someone now, and told i am faceless - which i am - but thats cos only pic i have on comp has my little boy in it and i dont want his face on here.
At end of day we are all entitled to opinions, yeah they are not nice characters doing what they are doing but get over it.
At the risk of sounding like an idiot - can someone please explain why getting a thread pulled can cause so much stress for someone. Yeah i know they are bxxxxxx for doing it but at the end of the day nobody died or got hurt.
I am sorry if i offend anyone saying this, i am quite new on here, have loved reading some of the posts, put a smile on my face, but my life isnt over because they are gone. I just go and find another one to read.
i have been in to have a look few times. There are always same 3 people in there, they seem really nice but there are never enough users in there to have a chat, and just seems to be a pop up of hello and goodbye all the time.
yep, i have mastered the art of speed smoking. Putting all the warm clothes on to go out for a ciggy seems a hassle so i normally brave it in jeans and t shirt.
If you could run to the store i would really appreciate it!! Believe it or not where i live you cant buy spirits as no shop that sells them, so have to order through post office. Due to holidays i wouldnt get it in time!
Thanks everyone. You really know how to make someone feel welcome. I will probably be around here on New Years Eve so i wont say hope to see you as i would like to think you are all out partying with friends, but, if you are here mines a hot chocolate with a shot of bailey's!!!!!
Hi, i have been here a few days but never introduced myself so apologies apologies apologies. I am a single mum, have 1 year old, living in Lapland but originally from the UK. Sometimes find it very tough going having no family around me to help out. I do have some great friends here but nights are lonely with nobody to talk to. I have already noticed some great characters on here and look forward to making new friends. I wish all the best to everyone for 2008, for me nothing can be worse than 2007.
swings and roundabouts. I am from UK and live in Finland. I know there are lots of Finns in UK but nowhere near same number of Brits in Finland!!!!! I know the language here has something to do with it, as its not the easiest to learn. But i think pretty soon many EU countries will just melt into the same pot. People will no longer notice which country they are in or even care for that matter - they will go where the work takes them.
Personally i have been- probably like lot of people - hurt in the past. But i am still optimistic someone out there for me. Life is too short to be hiding away thinking should i or should i not make first move. Not that i am saying go in with both feet shouting from roof tops - but if you are interested in someone and you think feeling could be mutual then why not make a move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Problem is where i am there are no suitable ones! but you never know, and they do say you always find when you are not looking.
RE: Do you prefer Xmas or New Year?
