Yes I have. Four years at the African day care centre belonging to PANAG (pan-african association - Greece)in Athens - and I worked bloody hard too, I did
First, thanks to kidatheart, guiri, cris, lago, robert (aka rusty knight) and smoky, also costgirl, sasseez and Tulefel (welcome to CS, girls!)
I've been meaning to leave for a while and haven't known exactly how to say bye. As some of you may remember, I came to CS 2 Christmases ago, bumpy start, soon addicted, pissed off, left, came back (addiction ) left, came back, left and finally settled in around March (3 months after joining) and started to make some friends, met kirip through one of my own threads in May and the rest is history. This is a first for both of us - never been wed before - and finally I have a hand to hold and a kind heart to keep mine warm - who could ask for any thing more......
The thing I wanted to say though, before departing once and for all, is thanks to CS and all you guys that I met back then. Everyone was important to me. Every kind word and the occasional I came to CS a total mess. No faith, huge issues with trust, just lonely and wanting people to talk to that I would never have to meet. Through my posts I found myself and in my own advice and that of others I slowly began to find my way. I have never expressed this but the truth is I could not be more grateful. At a time in my life when there was nothing but darkness all around, I found myself, my way and someone to travel down that road with...... thanks to this place, thanks to you.....
God bless you all, the ones I don't know also, good luck and happy days
I don't want to go down a list a mile long (forgive me) and later find that I've missed someone. If you remember me, then I remember you. You have my friendship and my love
It's the reason I don't post or read much anymore. I keep meaning to announce it somehow but often when I post it's like noone remembers me, noone says hi, makes me feel kinda awkward, so I don't. I thought I should start a 'success story' thread but then I was seriously worried noone would even acknowledge it.
Marti always says hi and she didn't know me as well as some of you. She must truly be a lovely person. Hi Marti! And Guiri who I totally love, of course. Hey Guiri!!
Anyway...... The reason I stopped writing was that I met someone right here on CS last year and we got married about 2 weeks ago. I thought I was pretty much hooked on CS too and I even sort of felt bad not having the time to write in the beginning but there it is - I wasn't hooked and if I wasn't crashing in my room with my ac, I probably wouldn't even be writing now.
I can totally relate. My dad came to stay with me 2 months ago. I hadn't seen him in about 5 years. He wanted to be here for me as I'm getting married next week. He's 82, has neuropathy (can't feel his legs from the knee down) from diabetes. He's a towering giant of a man, very strong in his day, gentle giant. He can't leave the house, stays in all day waiting for me. Can't get his own food and apologises for being a burden.
Yes, I agree about the quality of the song but the one he went to Eurovision with in 2004 was much, much worse and he came 3rd!!!!
He is hot from the waist up, I must say and he's certainly energetic...... but I find his legs are a little short for the rest of him, don't you think - look closer if you have no opinion at the present time and let me know...... (just joking all round, HA. I think it's all great fun and only hope I can watch it with someone tonight!!)
Well here in Greece it's been the mildest (albeit the WETTEST) winter since I arrived 20 years ago and I don't care...... I STILL HATE IT AND I WANT IT TO GO NOW!!!!! and for the summer to come so that I can stretch out and relax finally!!
Oh, and to answer your question, Weddy - Giving flowers may be old fashioned but it's charming and it shows you understand enough about women to know that most of them like pretty things and tokens of affection.
I have not recieved flowers from a man ever in my 43-year-old life. Not even once. And I love them. I supply myself with them almost every week (unless I've run out of money). I don't think I'd even know what to do if I was presented with a bunch
.....AND for anyone one who misses the Old Belfast, come to Athens, or as I like to call it - New Belfast or perhaps Little Belfast (which sounds quite quaint, I think)
Tomorrow it'll be a month since that boy was shot dead by that policeman down town and things are not really back to normal yet. Christmas Eve we had riots in town, also New Year's Eve. Every week some policeman gets shot. One got shot last night and is in intensive care still. Police stations are attacked every few days. Not as dramatic as the 1st week it all began when there was daily burning, shooting, stone-throwing and looting, but still a potentially fun-filled adventure holiday destination.
Today I went to one of my private lessons for the first time in a month.
One of my friends said she saw people selling stones during the riots. So don't worry if you're caught up in a riot unprepared. Just make sure you've brought some extra euros......
So what are the Dutch words for philosophy, geometry, pharmacy, theatre, democracy, history...... (I know I'm being silly, Hollandgirl - can't resist plugging my own language..)
Hello Ray! The Catholic Church was NOT the only church at the time......
Also, I had the impression that the reason the Templars were rounded up and burnt en masse in the fields mostly in France but other places too was that they had become too rich and owned too much land after a couple of hundred years of inovative, enterprising activity (they sort of invented banking in those days and were also given tonnes of land by the nobles that joined their ranks)... a force to be reckoned with, the king of France (am not a historian and can't remember his name) and the Catholic church felt threatened by their influence and rounded them up, inquisitioned them, burnt them at stakes and took their lands (which I thought was very clever and enterprising of the Catholic church in those days - also kinda typical).
Also, I agree the Templars may have been a bit weird in their ways but not really much weirder than the perverted Catholic church in those days (coz there's nothing perverted about churches these days )
I am trying (this is a little disgusting - but okay, I'll probably never ever meet any of you guys) to digest half of (what used to be) a very large Apple Upside-Down Cake
I had bought about 10 apples in order to go on a diet about 2 weeks ago which I never ended up going on and as I never eat fruit unless I am on a diet, they were just hanging around waiting to rot. I didn't think they should be allowed to rot. Got it in my head to make them into a cake. The rest is history. And stomach-ache...... Will I never learn......?
It's true...... it's the only thing makes the dance so interesting
Now Argentine tango, that's an interesting dance with the foreplay thrown in if you can be bothered to pay attention to it...... I loved Argentine tango...... did it for about a year, many years ago......
Yeah, it's nice but as latin dances go I'm more a salsa girl
I'm more and more in love with my CS guy (he doesn't dance at all and it just doesn't matter )
I feel like I've lost touch with you guys lately...... I hardly ever get any time to do more than browse the forums every few days Hope you're all well...... you were all fun to be with on the site
RE: I BET NONE OF YOU ARE DECENT CITIZENS DONE ANY VOLUNTEER WORK OR PUBLIC DUTIES ?
