Probably just the opposite...it's the convenience foods that are loaded with calories, I find good cooking to be all in the spices...which can turn a plain oiece of chicken into something wonderful and doesn't add calories like good old shake and bake does... Enjoy your classes
It's a matter of deciding what's important to you and now that my daughter is independent the security and having nice things just doesn't matter to me any more. I live in a little studio but can through a stone from my balcony to the beach...I live month to month, but if you're resourceful...there are always ways to make money...During tourist season it's easy...in the off season I give haircuts, dog and house sit, cater private parties, make desserts for the restaurants still open...whatever it takes.
The lifestyle isn't for everyone...mine is so unstable I can't have a pet because I have no idea where I'll be next year or what I'll be doing... but I love it!
Go for it... I did and have never looked back or regreted it.
When my daughter moved to australia with her fiance (now husband) I sold my business and everything I owned and spent 3 years backpacking around the world. I gave up a good income and security but dull existence...
I now live in Ibiza and love my life...I live each day and experience the now and don't worry about the future. I've heard to many stories of people looking forward to the life they plan "someday" and it never happens or they die.
I will never be someone who on their deathbed says "I wish I would have..."
A retired man and his ever nagging wife went on holiday to The Holy Land... while touring, the wife died.
The funeral director informed the grieving husband that he could have his deseased wife flown home for burial at a cost of 5000.00€ or she could be buried in the Holy Land for 150.00€.
The man thought it over and said "Well I think I'll go ahead and have her shipped home"
"But why?" asked the funeral director "it costs so much money...and the Holy Land is a good place to be buried"
The man replied..."Along time ago a man died here, was buried here and 3 days later rose from the dead... Well... I just couldn't take that chance."
Good for you John! I think most women are quite impressed with a man who can cook...and it will make your stay at home dining that much more pleasurable.
When I turned 40 I sold everything I owned, bought a backpack and spent 3 years traveling around the world...then I stumbled acrosd Ibiza and have been lkving here the past 7 years... Life is good
My sis and I used to have a catering business but here in Ibiza I manage restaurants.and supply other restaurants with desserts....we don't work winters so I do a bit of everything ...catering, haircuts, dog sitting ect.
Number one... I think all prisons should be self sufficient. Prisoners should work for a wage that allows them to purchase their meals, accomodation, health care, etc. If you're willing to put in some overtime you can afford to buy privledges...watching TV, working out in the gym...
If you're not willing to work than you get the minimum...crap food and stay in your cell 24 /7 with no extras. The more you work and contribute the better your standard of living.
A bit like the outside world...maybe if these guys got used to earning a living it might carry through to when they get released.
I'm catering a 70th bday party tomorrow night...so I've spent the morning at the market going stahl to stahl and hefting it all home...taking a well deserved break and may pop out to the cafe...it seems the sun has decided to make an appearance...
It wasn't really a date...his friend was having an opening party for his restaurant and he invited me along...we share a lot of the same friends so there was a group of us and we had a great time, he was quite attentive which was a good thing and laughed at my sarcastic quips and told someone to be quiet when they started to talk over me...all good signs!
But it's complicated...his wife of 22 years just left him 2 weeks ago and he's leaving on monday to do a film shoot in Germany and will be gone for about a month, so we'll see what happens.
"Dregs of society" ..."feel guilty"... If I felt either of those things I sure as hell wouldn't be here. All of my friends and family know I'm on here and I think many of the people on here are great...or I wouldn't be here...I'm picky that way.
When I was dating my ex... My job was traveling 11 months of the year...for over a year we got together 2 or 3 weekends a month...it was romantic and passionate...but in the end, not real. Within a month after our wedding I knew I had made a huge mistake...
You can't know someone without going through all the day to day BS with each other...
I know that had we spent one month together dealing with jobs, bills, family stuff...real life, I never would have married him.
I could never make a commitment to leave my life based on a year of chats and emails and a two week holiday... and what's the alternative...another 2 week holiday when you have the money and time off work?
