RE: Sell Me on Obamacare

I haven´t read the bill, nor am I going to... it doesn´t effect me as I live in Spain now (which does have socialized medicine).

First off anything that gets health care decisions back in the hands of medical professionals I´m all for. Under the current reign of HMO´s health care decisions are being made by clerks. I went through 2 years of debilitating pain before they finally gave permission for needed surgery... instead wanting to try this pill and that pill only to come to the same conclusion that my doctor and two others had recommended from the start... I needed surgery.

I have been more than happy with the health care provided in Spain and the taxes I pay are no more than what I paid in the States when you combine that with insurance payments... in fact it´s less.

The biggest problem that I see is continuing services to illegal aliens. California voted several years ago to stop providing services to Illegal aliens as it is a huge drain on the system, but the Supreme court over turned that vote and people who have never paid into the system continue to be a drain on the healthcare system both in available appointments for medical care and funds.

Under the current system it´s the middle income and small business person who has the worst options in health care. The low income have medicare, the wealthy can afford insurance but the middle classes are screwed by not being able to afford insurance yet making to much money to qualify for medicare.

I´ve lived with socialized medicine for 6 years now, I find it to be very positive.

RE: Compassion.

It´s easy to feel compassion... but it, like so many other emotions, are completely useless unless you actions match the emotion.

It´s easy to sit on your couch and watch the news showing the tragedies of others and say " I feel so bad for that person or people..." but what good does that do anyone except make you feel good about yourself when you feel compassionate?? If you act on those feelings, that´s a whole different thing.

RE: Something "fishy" about Obama's Health Care Views

I don´t think that there is enough info to know if that is his attitude or not... there are soooo many different places that a link like that can originate from... the fact that it is out there has done what it was meant to do... start questioning his attitude, surely he couldn´t be so stupid as to put out something like that... especially if it is his attitude...

Sorry to cut this short, looks like it could make for an interesting discussion... but I´m off to get ready for work! Big kiss sweetie, good to see you! kiss hug

RE: Something "fishy" about Obama's Health Care Views

Are you sure this came from the Obama admin or is there something "fishy" going on....laugh

RE: HOW CAN YOU ALWAYS TELL ' A TRUE CANADIAN OR AMERICAN ' ABROAD ?

Do you know how often I´ve wanted to say that to people? If you want it like it is at home... go home!!!!!!

I work in the tourist industry... and I get so fed up with people who have no interest in experiencing the culture they are visiting... they´re only here for the sun....

RE: HOW CAN YOU ALWAYS TELL ' A TRUE CANADIAN OR AMERICAN ' ABROAD ?

Sorry if this offends anyone... but in general I´ve found Canadians abroad to be much more accepting of things as they are and they seem to have more of a desire to experience the culture they are visiting.

I´ve found that Brits and Americans seem to want everything the way it is at home.

Again I´m speaking in general and there are always exceptions to everything. ( I was born in Britain and grew up in the States, but live very happily in Spain now and don´t want it to be anything like "home") laugh

RE: Blocked or Removed

Ohhhhhhh I just love "professional" forum posters.... laugh Personally I don´t think anyone should be banned... We all have the ability to block anyone who bothers us, and we also have the ability to not get involved in certain threads or respond to people. Let´s admit it folks... we all get a bit of thrill when things heat up... you just have to look at the number of pages that a controversial thread gets...laugh

RE: Is it time for a New World Order?

A "World" order is the last thing we need... The larger something is the less accountability there is. It´s time to go back to a "village" mentality. In a small system there is less opportunity to misuse funds, or work the system... it also holds leaders in much tighter scrutiny. Unfortunately we are well beyond this now...

RE: Follow the pack ...sheep

First off... I´m not a big fan of the "go along to get along" philosophy, saying that, I´ll also say that there is a huge difference between finding a few like minded people who think and feel the same about things that you do and blindly following a government because that´s what has been drilled into you.

While we all like to think of ourselves as completely unique and individual... there is always someone else out there that has similar views and attitudes to us... it´s natural to gravitate towards people who have these attributes and can appear to create a "pack mentality". There is nothing wrong with this providing that you stay true to your beliefs and don´t go along to get along.

To me... the problems occur when people blindly believe and adopt views and opinions with out taking the time to learn, research and form their own opinions.

RE: Just how dangerous are the FOX "News" personalitys?

Original definition of "News" - an unbiased, unopinionated reporting of events and issues in our world.... is there any such thing anymore????

RE: What is a "GOOD" woman and a "NICE" man?

Meaningless labels subject to individual interpretation.

RE: Todays Thought..........

I´m more of the thought that I´m going to live my life on my terms... if you make it better by being part of it... I´ll do my best to enhance your life as well... if not... then move on. Life is to short to be miserable with someone when you can be perfectly happy on your own. grin

RE: So what happens when we run out of words?

Hi Lago... when you coming over to exhibit... (your work that is...)laugh

RE: it amazes me how many people on here that do no believe in God

There is no point in even attempting to have a discussion with someone so closed minded and judgemental.

Regards... A Satan server...laugh (I just love black and white)

RE: do u think a guy feels about a overweight female?

What does it say about the OP that all the options were negative? laugh

RE: it amazes me how many people on here that do no believe in God

Do a little research... the entire Christian myth is based on religions going back long before the birth or death of Christ. Some of us choose to live in a world of reality rather than one based on mythology.

I respect your right to believe as you wish, please respect the rights of others to believe otherwise.

RE: help me find a small town guy!

There is a lovely small town in Northern Australia that I fell in love with... it´s called Bellingen and sits right at the edge of the rainforest... the town is about 6 blocks long and 2 blocks wide... doesn´t get much smaller than that and the locals are a lovely bunch!

RE: posts and threads

It allows you to know who to avoid at least... laugh and we´re all different... what comes across as needy or depressed to one may be attractive to someone who likes to be the hero or caregiver... different strokes for different folks...wine

RE: posts and threads

You can look at that 2 ways... Either they are not very smart and are scaring of potential dates... or they are being exactly who they are and will attract people who like who they are. I know that sometimes I can be a bit blunt and sometimes have an opinion that isn´t very popular... but I´m not into being "popular" I´m into someone appreciating me because of who I am...

RE: This is not a candy store, guys.

laugh You´re the one who said Garlic leaves a bad taste in your mouth... It´s all in how you prepare... slather it in olive oil and bake it for an hour and nothing is sweeter....wink

RE: stuck up ladies

snooty

RE: This is not a candy store, guys.

Personally I love garlic...grin

RE: Great British Mail Order Brides ?

I´m sorry... but I think when people use the "I´m not as strong as you..." excuse, it´s a bit of a cop out. I don´t believe that "strong" people are born that way... I believe it´s a choice we make and it starts with baby steps and a decision to be responsible for yourself and strength grows from those actions.

If someone chooses not to be responsible for themselves, at least be honest enough to say "I don´t want to deal with the responsibility of my life, I´d rather give up a certain amount of personal freedom and allow someone else to be responsible for my life"

It doesn´t make you wrong and many people choose to live this way... but I think people should be honest enough, at least with themselves, to acknowledge that decision.

RE: Great British Mail Order Brides ?

While I support a persons right to choose how they live... this definetly wouldn´t be for me. I understand that situations can be terrible and the need to escape... but why not do it for yourself instead of marrying a total stranger to do it? There are ways in which to improve your life without being bought and paid for...

RE: Friendship, switchblade duels, backstabbing & sudden surprise cuts from the side in the cyber world

I can´t speak for anyone else... but with me what you see is what you get whether on line or in person... same me... why would I portray anyone different than who I am, it would just attract people who don´t like me for me... and I´m not interested in that type of attraction!

I think anyone who has read some of my posts when I was a bit more active on the site knows that I post exactly as I feel, even when I know the opinion won´t be popular. grin

RE: Say Something, Anything....but be NICE Not! lol
