RE: which are you more inclined to date

That´s why I made the comment that I would be open.

I have serious questions and reservations about any relationship I get involved in. I was married once, for two years and have been divorced now for 25 years... in that time I´ve had two serious relationships but ended both within a year... so I think it´s pretty obvious that I am of the category of "rather be on my own then miserable with the wrong person" laugh

RE: Who can leave everything behind if she / he discovers the right one someday?

Yes, I probably would... but not to a humdrum boring existence... I´ve led a rather nomadic lifestyle for the past 8 years and everything I own pretty much fits into a couple of suitcases and a backpack. My family is in California, my Daughter is in Australia and I live in Spain... so for the right relationship and lifestyle, I would be open to a move.

RE: Intimacy

I spend quite a bit of time in quiet reflection... I enjoy the sense of oneness with nature when sitting at the beach watching the sunset and feel a deep peace in my heart and a connection to things around me and to people who are no longer in my life... nothing to do with God but with a connection to all things.

RE: which are you more inclined to date

I´m probably more inclined to the "empty nesters" since we would have that in common.

I really don´t want to get into raising someone elses kids at this stage of my life and like the freedom that comes with grown children...but if I really fell for someone who knows...

The widower can be difficult... it would depend on the circumstances and if the person had truly moved on, it can be difficult living up to a memory.

Around my age group if someone had never been married... I would have some serious questions as to why not and reservations about their ability to commit, but again I would be open.

RE: This Christmas I am dreading.....

The fact that I may have had one or two too many glasses of wine last friday night and have committed myself to 2 Christmas parties... one on the 14th before everyone goes off to their families for the holidays and one on Christmas for all the strays staying here without family....doh

RE: Thank You For your prayers

I´m so sorry Morgan....hug hug

RE: What Turns Women Off

Guys crying about how nice guys always get put down are a huge turnoff....innocent

All of your questions regarding marriage are answered....

I loved these! laugh So many that are supposedly written by kids are quite obviously faked by adults...

There is no doubt these are written by kids.... I love the last one especially...

Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck.
- Kelvin, age 10

Happy I could give you all a chuckle...laugh

All of your questions regarding marriage are answered....

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY? (Written by kids)

You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming.
- Alan, age 10

No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with.
- Kristen, age 10

WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?

Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then.
- Camille, age 10

No age is good to get married at. You got to be a fool to get married.
- Freddie, age 6 (A young ship in the making?)

HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED?

You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids.
- Derrick, age 8

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MUM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON?

Both don't want any more kids.
- Lori, age 8

WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?

Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough.
- Lynnette, age 8 (isn't she a treasure)

On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date.
- Martin, age 10

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT WAS TURNING SOUR?

I'd run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns.
-Craig, age 9

WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?

When they're rich.
- Pam, age 7

The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that.
- Curt, age 7

The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do.
- Howard, age 8

IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?

Its better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them.
- Anita, age 9 (bless you child)

HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET MARRIED?

There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there?
- Ricky, age 8

And the #1 Favorite is........

HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?

Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck.
- Kelvin, age 10

RE: Perspectives

I am so happy to see young people taking a stand and making demands... the last couple generations have been so bloody apathetic and blind it boggles the mind. This living for today and to hell with the future attitude that the oil industry and government, to mention only a couple, have instilled in our society is appalling.

Everything has become "disposable"... there are no more TV or Stereo repairmen, just chuck it out and buy a new one. More and more this has become the way that people are living... pure consumerism with no thought for tomorrow.

Kids have a right to be pissed off and start demanding answers and accountability.

Great post kid!

RE: THE CS BUCKET LIST

Several years ago I experienced one of those "moments of revelation" that encouraged me to live my life like there would be no tomorrow. I spent 3 years backpacking around the world and pretty much completed my bucket list... now it´s about making the most of the little things that life offers on a daily basis and appreciating all the people, joys and experiences in my life.

The only thing I would really like to experience again is being in a truly loving relationship.

RE: AM I ONE OF THE VERY FEW ROMANTICS?

I´m good with this when things have reached a level that both people are committed to a loving relationship...prior to that, in the beginning stages, it would make me really uncomfortable.

RE: AM I ONE OF THE VERY FEW ROMANTICS?

Definitely... the fact that someone listens and remembers... I do put a lot of value on gifts... not their monetary value but in how much it reflects a persons knowledge of you, that they have listened to little comments, that is truly romantic.

RE: My Favorite Book. Yours?

Books are probably one of the greatest passions in my life... I have so many favorites and like so many different styles of literature....

The Glass Palace by Meenakshi Mukherjee, A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, Daughter of Fortune and House of Spirits are two of my favorite bookes by Isable Allende, but everything by her is fantastic... Also everything by Elmore Leanord, best known for Be Cool and Get Shorty which were both made into films... Carl Hyacinth and Ben Elton, both masters of dark comedy... all the tales of Arthur, Tolkien, and Stephen Donaldson... just to mention a few...laugh

RE: AM I ONE OF THE VERY FEW ROMANTICS?

On the surface of things I don´t appear to be very romantic... I don´t like poetry and flowers when I first start seeing someone.... it makes me feel uncomfortable.

What I find to be romantic are the impulsive actions taken without forethought without the attempt to "create" a mood or response.

I know there are a few guys on here who write lovely long romantic situations... which most of the ladies seem to enjoy. My reaction to things like that is... if you spent so much time creating these situations in your mind where is there room for spontaneity?

I don´t want to feel that we´re following some sort of script the first time we have dinner at his place, or the first time we dance or make love... I want what happens to be spontaneous and without thought.

I think one of the most romantic things a man has ever done for me was when he bought a book from a used book store, simply because he remembered a couple months previously I had said I loved the book but no longer owned a copy of it.

It would have been a nice act had he gone out the next day to look for the book... but for me it meant much more that it had stayed in his mind and when he came across the book, he remembered.

So my idea´s of romance are probably very different then most of those who call themselves romantics.

RE: How are the ex-smokers doing, still not back smoking?.fez up.you say your sooo happy then why smoke?

wave wave Hi MF... almost moving time?

RE: How are the ex-smokers doing, still not back smoking?.fez up.you say your sooo happy then why smoke?

I smoked for 11 years quit for 14 years and started again 12 years ago. Last year I was smoking 3 packs a day then switched to rollups. I use natural tobaco without the 4 hundred and some odd chemicals added, rice paper with natural gum and cotton filters... The fact is I enjoy smoking... changing to non chemical has been much better. I smoke less than a pack a day and feel better for it, my costs are about 1/10th of what they were.

I don´t know what all the chemicals are that are added to prerolled cigarettes but I know that if I smoke them now they make me feel quite ill.

There may come a time in my life when I once again choose not to smoke, if that happens I´ll quit, but for now I think I´ve reduced some of the harm and i enjoy it.

RE: how many of you have tried..................?

That actually sounds really good!

RE: how many of you have tried..................?

Ok... I think Lago and Guriman get the prize for the most unappetizing sounding dishes yet...laugh

RE: Im truly saddened by this horrible news.

My grandmother was a very smart woman... she always said "Everything in moderation"

Living in Ibiza I see a lot of the "drug culture", but all of these things if used sensibly and not frequently can definitely enhance a night out or in with friends. Dropping an E and having a glass or two of wine isn´t going to mess up anyone... dropping 7 E´s, doing a gram of cocaine and killing a bottle of vodka with a bunch of redbull is just plain stupid.... doh

As far as pot goes... I can´t smoke it, it messes me up more then any other drug I´ve ever used and leaves me completely incoherent.... oh for the days of crap weed that just gave you the giggles and the munchies....laugh

RE: how many of you have tried..................?

The Italian "lardo" is fantastic. When I first heard what it was I didn´t want to try it, I thought it was really gross... but I tried it and it is amazing. It´s cured pig fat. grin

I also love apple pie with a slice of melted cheddar cheese on it

and Basil Ice Cream is delicious!

RE: how many of you have tried..................?

Yes, but a lot less liquid then mussels... enjoy!!!kiss

RE: how many of you have tried..................?

Yes. over a flame in a pan, or your wine would make a mess of your oven!laugh You can grill them under your burner, but I think it dries them out a bit, much more succulent done with a bit of liquid and the butter and garlic add great flavour!

RE: how many of you have tried..................?

Hi sweetie...my favorite way to cook them is to put about a tablespoon of butter with some minced garlic in a saute pan, saute for just a couple of minutes...don´t let your garlic get brown or it´s to strong... then add about a half cup of white wine and your prawns and a dash of salt.

Cook until they turn colour should only take 3 to 4 minutes in a hot pan

If you like a little spice then at the beginning stage add a few hot pepper flakes to the garlic and butter.

RE: how many of you have tried..................?

Ohhhhh I love Cebiche, my favorite is prawn rather than fish, but it´s all good! The acid in the lime juice actually cooks the fish or shrimp so it´s not really raw.
