RE: help

Is the taxi in your name? I'd imagine that if it is then they can take it to cover the debt. I'm not sure but your solicitor should be. He should be at least able and willing to check it out for you. I would get a new solicitor ASAP. One that can advise you one way or another for definite.

RE: Everything Premier League related

I've no doubt Liverpool needed Sturridge but £12m seems a bit steep. If Sturridge is worth £12m then Welbeck must be worth around £20m. I bet Chelsea wish they had Sturridge available tonight. I'm surprised Liverpool didn't go for Demba Ba. I know Chelsea are favourites to sign him but I think he might have got more games for Liverpool. Torres can seem to do no wrong in Chelsea's eyes no matter how many chances he misses.

RE: Everything Premier League related

Of course you do but you can't have world class players in every positon unless you have megabucks and United don't have it. All the teams you mentioned do. There's the difference. As for Rafael, he might surprise you and I sincerely hope he does. Don't forget when Gary Neville came through, a lot of people didn't rate him. In fact even when he was first choice right back for United and England, a lot of people didn't rate him but he won almost everything in the game, well at club level anyway. Welbeck, Jones and Smalling may not be good enough right now but they might be in a few years. Not every club can afford established internationals like the clubs you mentioned. Fergie brought through Welbeck and bought Jones and Smalling for the future. World class players are not always born world class. Now I'm not saying any of those players will definitely be world class in a few years but I bet that they will win trophies. Evra, Evans, Rio, Rafael, Fletcher, Carrick, Welbeck, Anderson and Nani may never be world class but they do all have one thing in common. They have won trophies with United. I don't mean to keep harping on about Liverpool here but look at Steven Gerrard. He's world class (or at least he was). A few years ago he could have walked into virtually any team in the world. He has never won the premiership though. Sure it helps to be world class but it doesn't guarantee you will win everything.

Can you say every single member of the team that won the treble in 1999 were world class? How about when we won the double in 2008? Of course you need quality but you also need hard work and a bit of luck.

You say that we overachieved last season in finishing second. Are we overachieving now since you seem to think we are doing so badly yet we are in second?

Of course every fan wants their team to be first rather than second but I happen to think we did well considering the injuries we had last season (remember how you said we had fourteen injuries at one stage?) and we came within five minutes of winning the league. By the way you are talking anyone would think we lost the league by 10 points not on goal difference. I still think we are in with a good chance this season. I give credit where its due though. Some people are never happy. I suspect that if we had won the league last season, you would be complaining that we hadn't won the champions league and if we had the champions league too, you would probably be complaining that we hadn't won the league cup and the FA cup.

We will all get worried when Fergie leaves but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Oh and as for Chelsea having a better squad on paper, they do in most departments. On paper doesn't always win things though. Their midfield is scoring the majority of the goals for them right now but what happens if they go through a barren spell? What happens if Torres gets injured? Not that he is scoring much these days anyway but the only one they have left up front is Daniel Sturridge. Next you will be telling me he is better than Danny Welbeck laugh

RE: Everything Premier League related

As for Jones and Smalling, in Jones I see a lot of promise and the same with Smalling although he has a lot to learn still. I'm not sure whats wrong with Welbeck and Rafael. He may not be first choice but he's certainly a handy player to have on the bench and I think he would make it into most teams in the league with the exception of maybe City. Rafael you have already admitted is doing well this season so you seem to be kinda contradicting yourself there confused

RE: Everything Premier League related

Facts? From what I can see, its a lot of speculation and very few facts. As for David Gill, I never said anything about him being on the board of the F.A. because I don't think its relevant. While chief executives and chairmen are always going to have their own clubs interest at heart, it doesn't stop them doing their jobs properly when they are also on the board of the FA. Funny how David Dein was rarely mentioned when he preceded Gill on the board of the FA although he was chief executive of Arsenal. Was he biased too? I bet if the chief executive of Liverpool had been on the board of the FA, you would say he was completely impartial yawn

As for the point you made about Real Madrid, I'm afraid you're wrong there too. I don't watch much Spanish football so I wouldn't be able to comment on that. Every club gets good decisions for them and bad decisions against them. Until we get video technology, that will continue to happen.

I think the reason people talk about United is because they have been consistently the best team in the premiership since its inception in 1992 give or take a few years so what United does is highlighted more. I think you'll find that if every decision was given correctly, United would still have been in third place before the weekend's fixtures.

Granted Liverpool have been the victim of the most bad decisions this season, United certainly haven't been the ones who have had the most good decisions go their way. In fact......QPR, Fulham, Stoke, Aston Villa and Arsenal have had more decisions go their way.

RE: Everything Premier League related

Is that why Liverpool haven't won the league title in 22 years? United have been getting all the decisions?

I think whoever wrote that article had his Liverpool pyjamas on tongue laugh

If every decision went United's way, we would never lose a match let alone a trophy. I think someone had been reading too many conspiracy theorys. A continued lack of success must make some people delusional roll eyes

RE: Everything Premier League related

Should have got a yellow for gesturing at Sir Alex Ferguson after he was sent off too laugh

RE: Everything Premier League related

So United haven't been that impressive so far this season but two wins out of three...well it could be worse. But none of the top teams have been that impressive so far. Everton are hard to beat as they proved on the opening game of the season and last season. It was a struggle to beat Southampton (I think even City will testify to that) but I believe United deserved the win.

I think Liverpool will probably finish in the top half of the table but only just. I'm not a fan of Andy Carroll but letting him go to West Ham on loan without signing a replacement was madness. I do think West Ham will get the best out of him because they will play to suit his style as they proved yesterday. I agree with Jamie Redknapp (as much as it pains me to say it!). I think Liverpool need to sign a striker who is a free agent. Someone like Michael Owen might be a short-term solution. He's never going to be a first team regular again due to his injury problems but he might just be a good back up option if Suarez or Borini get injured. I'm not sure the Liverpool fans would be too happy about him coming back though with his premiership medals in his back pocket laugh

RE: Everything Premier League related

It was unreal alright. You have to give City credit with all the problems they had with Balotelli and with Tevez, they still won the league albeit on goal difference. City were supposed to have had a much more superior squad compared to everyone else but only won the league by the skin of their teeth. People talk about how more superior they are going to be this season but they haven't signed anyone yet this summer. As for United missing out on Moura and Hazard, we have missed out on players before (Ronaldinho springs to mind) and still gone on to won things. In fact, It worked out well that we didn't get Ronaldinho because we ended up with an even better player in Ronaldo. I haven't seen much of Kagawa yet and although I realise stats are not everything, Kagawa's stats in a more superior league are better than Hazard's. Moura is only 19 and still unproven and he will remain unproven in my book until he moves to a more superior league than Ligue 1 in France.

As for RVP, although i have reservations about him given the fact that he has been somewhat injury prone since he joined Arsenal (last season was his first full season free of injury), his age and the money United paid, I do think if he can stay fit then he could be a huge asset for the club. With Owen released and Berbatov set to leave also, I do think we needed another top striker. You need four strikers really to challenge for top honours.

Welbeck and Hernandez both had injuries last season and the latter struggled for form when he was fit so neither of them scored more than 10 goals each. If we are going to push City for the title this season then we need two strikers of the caibre of RVP and Rooney playing together.

RE: Everything Premier League related

You're forgetting Darren Fletcher. He's back. He played a reserve game the other day. I think it will be Cleveley, Fletcher, Kagawa, Anderson and Carrick competing for the two central midfield slots with Scholes and Giggs on the bench. Okay so it doesn't look as good on paper as Toure, Nasri and Silva but its not too bad either. I'll also be interested to see how Nick Powell does. He's supposed to be a handy player too.

RE: Everything Premier League related

I agree. Oh and it looks like we are getting RVP. Arsenal and United have agreed a fee subject to a medical and United agreeing personal terms with the player.

RE: Shay Given Retires from International Football....

Exactly!! I'd say he wasn't at his best against Croatia but he was one of our best players against Italy and Spain. You hit the nail on the hit when you said the day every Ireland fan has been dreading. I certainly was. I've heard people saying he was crap against Spain but I think the scoreline would have been a lot heavier than 4-0 if it wasn't for him.

I had a feeling after the Euros he would retire though because was very non-committal when asked if he was going to retire. He was a great servant for Ireland for many years and I would go as far as saying that his International retirement is the most significant one in a very long time.

Katie Taylor - Urban Myths

We've all heard the urban myths about what Chuck Norris can do but did you know that....

Usain Bolt ran that fast in the 100m because he heard Katie Taylor was in the arena?

Katie Taylor once punched a horse in the chin? His descendants are now known as.....giraffes.

Katie Taylor could strangle someone with a cordless phone?

When Katie Taylor was born, the only one who cried was the doctor? No one slaps Katie Taylor and gets away with it!

Katie Taylor once had a street named after her? It was removed though because nobody crosses Katie Taylor and lives.

Katie Taylor doesn't wear a gum shield to protect her teeth?. She wears it to protect her opponents hands in case they get a lucky punch in.

Katie Taylor was only four years old when she knocked down the Berlin Wall?grin

RE: Will Ireland win a Olympic medal at London 2012?

If only you had waited five hours before posting that doh laugh

She beat Jonas on Monday afternoon to get into the semi finals so she's guaranteed a bronze at the very least although I can see her getting at least a silver maybe even a gold.

RE: Football Chat...

I doubt its a way of getting more money out of Arsenal and as the Wayne Rooney saga, I am probably biased as a United fan but I don't think it was just about the money. At the time United hadn't spent that much on bringing in new players for a while so he was probably worried that would impact on him winning things with United in future given they sold Ronaldo and only spent a fraction of that money on players.

Same reason for Van Persie i reckon although I think United are better placed to win trophies than Arsenal are right now having run City close to the title last season and winning for three seasons in a row before that. I'm only guessing here but Van Persie probably became disillusioned because Arsenal sold a few of their best players to City lately. Although they did sign two strikers this summer in Giroud and Podolski, maybe he feels that they need to spend more players to compete for silverware. Arsenal haven't won anything in a while and maybe he has become concerned about that.

I can't see Van Persie going to another premiership club either though. I reckon he will probably end up in Italy or Spain. I don't see Juventus as a come down for him though. They did just win Serie A last season but the thing I would be concerned with about Juventus is that there is another scandal brewing in Italy with match fixing and if they are found to be involved again, they could suffer the same sanctions as they did in 2006 and be relegated. In that case, I wouldn't think Van Persie would stick around too long. I think he could end up moving from Arsenal to one of the Milan clubs and it wouldn't even surprise me if he ends up at Barcelona or Real Madrid.

RE: Football Chat...

Robin Van Persie looks set to leave Arsenal after confirming he will not sign a new contract with the Gunners. The Dutch striker — who has one year left on his current deal — took to his website to end speculation over his future.

Yeah I thought that penalty going wide for a minute. Great player even at 35. I'd say AC Milan were kicking themselves letting him go to Juventus only for them to win Serie A with Pirlo playing out of his skin laugh
