RE: Name a singer or a band you wouldn't go see even if you have a free ticket.

We had to learn Square Dancing in my gym class, with the boy's class. I always wanted to learn swing dancing, looks like so much fun, love the music too!

I would never go to see, "Queen" even if I had a ticket. Always thought they were a really bad take off of "SuperTramp" who I di love!

RE: Perspective

Seeing my grandchildren growing up makes time going by even faster! Christmas and birthdays getting more difficult, no more simple toys, they want all the "high tech" stuff...lol!

RE: causes of breakups and divorces

I would say, "familiarity breeds contempt", cause of the the majority.

RE: This is a good one!---rights, rights, rights......

Whether it be a dog, cat, bird or another human, if any are creating a disturbance, they should leave.

RE: CREMATION ONLY

I'm looking into eco burials. There are places in my state that do this. My choice is being buried, no coffin and a tree planted over my remains. The remains nourish the tree, land is set aside for this. Plaques are put at the tree so family members can visit the "grave" so to speak. I've always loved forests so this type of burial appeals to me.
There are many other forms of eco burials, one company in Oregon will compost your body to make fertilizer for the conservation of forests.
For Christians it makes sense as your body is going back to the elements of which that God made mankind.

RE: Boycott gassed meats

I always thought it was nitrogen gas they used. I know it's used in delicate food like chips and cereals, ect. Nitrogen supposedly doesn't react with food. I don't know why vacuum packing isn't used for meats?
I don't buy meat anymore, went Vegan (whole foods only) but of course you read about different problems with that. Can't win.

RE: Bad habits

I have a bad habit of procrastinating. Simple things, opening mail, household chores, some yard work ect. I do get things done but would be a lot easier if I kept up with it.

RE: do you believe in UFO...s. have you seen one ? and where ?

There just maybe life here in our solar system. Europa and Enceladus are top contenders to have biological life similar to our own oceans. The "Europa Clipper" is scheduled for journey in 2030. Whatever they find I hope they leave it there. I always think of that movie, "The Andromeda Strain" from 1971. The only movie that really scared me. We have enough microbes, bacteria and viruses to contend with already. I'm skeptical about intelligent alien life coming here. If it did happen the human race would be in big trouble. Look what we do to primitive people from civilized cultures. I suspect advanced alien civilization behavior would be no different. A grab for resources and much exploitation of this planet and life. Even Steven Hawking warned of this very thing.
I do strongly suspect these "UFO" flaps are staged. Perfect guise to carry out top secret projects!

RE: Do you like to travel?

My Ex and I both worked full time jobs but we took many road trips on the weekends. No real destination just head out and explore different areas, back roads, places off the beaten track. It was more fun than planning a full vacation, made some great memories and adventures. Very refreshing after a long week as well.

RE: the value of things

Brings to mind a quote by, Thomas Paine,

"That which we obtain to slightly*, we esteem to lightly"

*I first heard the quote with "slightly" but original quote was "cheaply". I think the quote applies s to so many things. Great words no matter.

RE: not done yet

I always wanted to go up in the SR-71 Blackbird! No chance of that but still can see one. One is on display at a military base in the Panhandle of Florida. Beautiful plane!

RE: Which fragrance do you like the most?

The smell of a horse barn, hay even manure brings back memories of being with my horse at the stables with other friends and other kids with their horses, riding together, helping each other or just hanging out. It was a very care free lovely time.

RE: Peter Pan & Wendy

It doesn't end, never has. Now, Anne Boleyn is Black as well as Cleopatra* and even Tutankhamun. Either in History or fiction, I like to see characters portrayed in their origin or as originally told. The Little Mermaid was a Danish tale, Peter Pan was a boy but portrayed by women (Maude Adams & Mary Martin). Many Native American characters were portrayed by Whites. Even the famous, Charley Chan movies, Chan was portrayed by a Swedish actor instead of a Hawaiian (from original story). The list goes on.

This "Black and White washing" for the sake of "inclusiveness" muddles true history and literature. Some Youtubers are even demonetized for trying to set records straight with indisputable facts.

*I don't know why Cleopatra is so famous. There are so many great Women of Egypt. Hatshepsut was one of the most powerful Pharaohs of Egypt, far beyond what Cleopatra could ever be.

One of my favorite Black heroes from history is Maurice of Thebes, legendary Roman Commander. So great, he was canonized. Would love to see an epic movie about him!

RE: Can someone help me please?

I bought a Roku stick a few years back but found out I need a subscription to Cable TV through my internet provider to watch anything of interest to me. Cable subscription would cost me upwards of $60 more a month. My internet company is already charging me $105 a month for 500 mbg. Not sure if the other platforms are the same? I haven't experienced any "bleeping" on YT but see a lot of censoring going on with some of my favorite broad castors.

RE: What about prince Harry’s children Archie and Lilibet

Oh no they didn't. The Princess Royal Anne, would have made a great Monarch after her mother. Too bad she far down the list of succession. Sometimes these "birth rights" put the wrong person on the throne.

I think Harry and Meghan's kids are real. I feel sad for them tho. They do not know their families from either side. Hopefully they grow up smarter and kinder than their parents.

RE: Birds and Animals

Alligators, Saltwater Crocodiles, Water Moccasins (venomous snake, very common),Osprey (protected) Box turtle (also protected) and the lovely Sand Hill Crane.

Let's not forget mosquitoes and fire ants.

RE: If you lived your life all over again, what you change?

Absolutely nothing. I would be afraid I might not have the children that I have. The three most important and the brightest spots in my life.

RE: Prices and such...

Used to pay $.05 for "snow cones" (shaved ice with flavors) when the ice cream truck came around after school.. Now it's $5.00. I still pay it for my grandkids, they love it. Glad the truck only comes once a week.

RE: Chaim Topol dies at 87 R.I.P.

So sad to hear. He was in a movie I enjoyed immensely, "Follow Me", with Mia Farrow and Micheal Jayston in 1972. It was a lighthearted fun movie! RIP Topol.

RE: Anyone Taking Medication Should Have A Look At This

Hard to hide anymore...lol!

I wonder if it was with all citris juices?

RE: Anyone Taking Medication Should Have A Look At This

Grapefruit juice is another one you have to watch with meds.

RE: Petrus is a Latin name derived from the Greek meaning "rock",

This man had a vision, not ancient but the early part of last century. He built it himself, truly fascinating. Coral rock is extremely hard. Modern day equipment even has a hard time with it.

RE: your favorite bird??

Got to admire that Harpy Eagle, very elusive, one of the most difficult to study.

RE: Pharmacists

Here in the US, it's a very difficult high stress job. My daughter is a senior pharmacist/manager. Very often she will work 14 hrs a day, doesn't get paid for overtime. With counseling clients (many do not give her information on what else they are taking, then they get angry because she can't Rx what they want. Not to mention clients on Class A narcotics who want Rxs filled before they are due. Inventory, filling the general Rxs, testing for Covid and giving the vaccine. 99% of pharmacies are owned by corporations and they rarely give raises. Many Pharmacists are quitting because of the stress. New graduates of universities coming into the profession are getting 25% less than a decade ago.

RE: Anything Goes...

Okay I tried to post this as a thread but there was no prompt for this forum.

Anybody have a favorite book they think would make a good movie? Of course one that hasn't been done before.

I have one I read as a kid but still one of my favorites

"He owned the World", by Charles Eric Maine. Great intrigue and the very last sentence of the book was a major twister, changed the whole story.

RE: Predictions...

Of
the
PAST / FUTURE / CURRENT
that you want to share?[/quo

Looking at past cultures and civilizations, it's not hard to predict the rise of Elitism again. Fortunately it never endures., the game of, " Who Is King of the Mountain" is innate in humans. Nothing has really changed since ancient times except technology.

RE: Psychic...Are You..?

I like her threads too. Interesting topics. Wish I was more knowledgeable on some of them.

As far as psychic ability...some people are highly intuitive, can process information rapidly, naturally. Some with training such as FBI profilers. So many fake/charlatans around, makes it hard for those who may have a natural ability.

RE: G H O S T...

Some people tend to be more sensitive than others. It's only a theory of what might be happening. Reports of ghostly experiences are always anecdotal, no real proof as yet. Being in the right place at the right time, one might be able to experience these things.

Ever stop to think that most good ghost stories take place during thunderstorms when the atmosphere is highly charged. Magnetic fields do affect the synapses in the brain. This has been proven in labs many times.

RE: G H O S T...

I've often thought that apparitions are due to a weakness in the time space continuum (thus why some experience extreme cold or changes in surrounding atmosphere) maybe produced by a magnetic field. Images of events, people from another time can be seen even felt, like an energy ripple. We in our time, might be seen as an apparition in another time.

I watched this program about a haunted battleship where a man was inspecting the engine room of the ship, looked up and saw a sailor in a uniform from a much older time. The sailor was looking straight down at the inspector then ran up the stairs and returned to the engine room with a senior officer and pointed to the inspector, then they both faded out. This whole event took place in a moment.

There was also a "Star Trek", (TOS) episode where this theory (loosely based) was used in the story line. It just got me to thinking it might be a very common occurrence.

RE: What breeds what?

"Familiarity Breeds Contempt" a favorite of mine. How true is that...lol!
