RE: Odd Facts of Life

"Hit the sack" or also "hit the hay". Back in the early 19th Century mattresses were usually stuffed with hay. Some mattresses were made up of sacks of hay, thus the terms.

Another..".don't you bow up on me" . When horses challenge each other they will arch or bow their necks. The saying was used in the back in the day when someone challenged another usually a parent would say it to a child when they acted up.

RE: I see things differently than you

"Half empty" isn't always bad. Makes me think someone is quenching their thirst or enjoying their drink.

RE: 444

"444", is a numerical symbol of the Christian God's righteousness. Read it somewhere but forgot where.

RE: insomnia and hypersomnia

Going to look him up. Even with Melatonin, frequent waking is happening again. I have a hard time falling asleep even, need some kind of "white" noise. ASMR videos help initially. Thanks! handshake

RE: Smokin

I vape, 12 years now. Quit cigs immediately never smoked them again. Vaping a fraction of the cost, clean, no ashes, I have no cough or ill effects. smells nice (at least mine does) Never do it around people tho in their houses or cars or in public places or do huge clouds.

RE: Mean to others

Sometimes it's necessary in the case of persistent telemarketers, sales people that come to the door and don't take or know what "no" means, sometimes bureaucrats and lets not forget scammers.

RE: King Charles III

Not sure what you mean either but I do wish King Charles all the best. I think Camilla will be great support for him as well as Prince William.

RE: King Charles III

OOps you are right. I even looked it up to make sure I had the right numeral, typo, my bad, Thanks!

RE: King Charles III

Too bad it could not have been the Princess Royal Anne. She would have been a terrific Monarch. Yes I know impossible because of birth right. Sometimes that order can put the wrong person on the throne, Edward Vll good example.

Charles is okay but just does not strike me as dynamic, bold, knowledgeable and confident as the Princess Royal. She is near the top of my list of people I truly admire in modern times.

Great lady!!!

RE: Which things remain with the seller even after being sold?

First thing that comes to mind is insurance policies.

RE: revenge or forgive

I think if someone maliciously and deliberately hurt one of my kids, I'd have a very hard time forgiving. Maybe I could...after getting revenge.

Anybody think there is a difference between revenge and retaliation?

RE: My Taste In Music

Love it!!!! Thank you!teddybear

RE: My Taste In Music

The concert for Glen Miller starts at $103!!! That lets me out. Just have to listen on line. crying

RE: My Taste In Music

I love all kinds of music from Metal to full ensemble symphonic. There is a concert coming up locally, music of Glen Miller. Radio plays snipets of his music, I find I really like it. Bet it would be awesome in a concert hall! Swing dancing looks like it would be incredibly fun as well!

RE: insomnia and hypersomnia

I worked 3rd shift for many years, had difficulty regulating sleep after retiring even tho it's been a couple years. Waking up about every two hours or so. Melatonin does help, 5mg a night. I don't get the crazy dreams some people report, just a vague sleepiness.
Can't believe it's Rx over there, you can get it here at dollar stores. It can react with several common meds, tho and cause side effects.

RE: A tune in praise of our Lord

I'm not religious but here is two I love,

RE: CHRISTMASTIME

RE: All words that begin with the letter P

RE: To grow a beard or not............please place your vote for me........;)

You can always shave it off if, give it a try.
I've always liked beards. Love the, "Leon Russell" look.

RE: Which celebrities do you find most attractive?

Vincent D'Ornofrio
Pic didn't post but YT video of him, such an underated talent!

RE: Do horror movies...scare women or men mostly?

The semi fictional and possible movies are the best! "The Andromeda Strain" from 1971 is my favorite. A lot of suspense in that one. Horror movies never bothered me, I even thought "The Exorcist" was cheesy. I enjoy good suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, style. "The Birds", I thought was chilling.

Some of these true crime programs, what people really do to each other is horror enough for me.

RE: Why do people wear torn clothes?

These trends always remind me of that age old story, "The Emperor's New Clothes".

RE: Lets compare real prices by you.

The Latin communities up here are opening stores here in Brevard. Thrifty Produce, is a major one. Last time I bought meat it was from there and they were cheaper than the other popular chains. I don't know if they have stores in Dade but they are very popular here, always busy. They have a huge selection of fruits and vegetables I've never heard of or seen.

Aldis is another one very popular (German owned, I think). Haven't shopped there yet but everyone says prices are very good there in general.

RE: Lets compare real prices by you.

I went Vegan beginning of the year. Some produce has inflated, iceberg lettuce $2.99 a head, carrots depends on how much you buy big pack around $3.00, cucumbers $.79 each, celery went up $2.19. Some fruits went way up, watermelon $7.95 for a medium size!, tomatoes up about $.25 (I buy the plum tomatoes). Dry goods haven't gone up that much, rice, legumes ect maybe about $.10 or so. Potatoes, red russet, I like, $4.59 for about 3lbs. Onions about $3.00 bag about 6 medium yellow. I love Hummus and it's about $.99 for small container. Berries, blue, rasberries, strawberries ect. 2 small containers for $5.00. Coffee up about $1.50 max just about everywhere. Creamers Liquid/powder all over $4.50. Even "Dollar Store" goods up $.25.
Publix a major grocery here always has a good selection of "buy one get one free" but prices throughout the store way up. I shop at Dollar General here in FL for dry and canned goods, many of there goods still a $1, good selection.
Pet food went way up, almost $.50 a can and I've seen dry food almost $1.50 more than before. I now buy my cat a raw meat food preparation that is actually cheaper than some of the higher end brands.
Our governor, DeSantis instituted a "tax holiday" on gas (no tax) which brought the price way down. I was paying $5.89 per gal (for mid grade) but it did come down slowly.

RE: Share What You Are Listening To -- Part 99

Heard this watching a boating video, had to find it. Video is kind of strange don't know if it was a movie or what but love the group, now.

RE: Post a tune for your future lover

RE: Why would people holiday in the USA ?

*here (sorry for typo)

RE: Why would people holiday in the USA ?

There is also geographical places, if you don't want to be around a lot of people. The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, The Rockies and Smokey Mountains, they were just beautiful!

Most people her are very willing to help tourists and recommend the best places.

RE: Need thoughtfulness opinions!!

I didn't have a pic for the longest time simply because I just don't know how to upload. I had to have help with the one I have. That took a few tries. My OS is very easy to run and I get by, but anything technical, I'm clueless. I even have trouble on the music threads, when I try to post a video, never works

The electronic age has left me behind. I even have trouble with TV remotes, phones, new appliances and new cars.....

I know I have a scammer when they tell me I have "beautiful eyes" and I'm wearing sunglasses in my pic. Too many terms of endearment are like "syrup of ipecac" to me, back button those or if they start with ...block.

RE: Which do you prefer most to do alone with your partner?

Didn't mean to get you off topic. One last thing tho, you would not recognize Lauderdale, be horribly disappointed.
