RE: Why do you post pics with your children?

Hmmm. I have sent a few people pics of my children and grandchildren once I've got to know them a bit. I'm proud of them I suppose, am I using them as bait? Maybe I have been unconsciously, but aren't most of us here trying to catch someone?
I think I've been trying to warn ladies what they may be in for!!

RE: Throwing in the towel

I haven't been in the forums for about a year but I feel I should make a little comment. I have been on CS for a couple of years now and I, as many others , have met a number of potential partners. I didn't really expect anything from this, I just hoped. frustrated
After all this time I have recently become very very attached to a wonderful young(ish) lady.smitten We are a long way apart but at least I've had a result.

RE: Do you believe in life after death?

I go along with this too. I suspect that once we do pass over we'll look back and recognise that on this earthly plane we are more 'dead' than when we rise into the spirit worlds.

Oh and while Jesus hasn't said a word for nearly 2000 years what he said then was amazing. cool

RE: Do you ever get that sinking feeling?

That doesn't really work unless you look at the picture on my profile.

RE: Do you ever get that sinking feeling?

Whereas I DO have a cat sat on my head. Hi there.

It was once suggested to me that if I was on a real downer to give myself a time limit. "I'm going to be really depressed until midday tomorrow and then that's it. I get myself up again." professor

Don't know if this helps but it can work. (doesn't always)

RE: The second Coming.........

Everyone seems to have come to much the same conclusion, that Christ's message was entirely about love and helping your fellow being, and I agree.
Going back to the title of this thread; The Second Coming. That's where I drift away again. Jesus is quoted as saying 'While I am in the world I am the light of the world, but soon I will be gone" (roughly) and also that He had only come for his chosen people. Relating back to my previous post, why do we think he's coming again as Jesus? And yes I think if someone was put forward as the New Messiah who we should all follow while abandoning our previous beliefs, then he would immediately be dealt with unmercifully.
Any Messiah who has come is usually the most self-effacing and humble person we could possibly imagine (therefore not merolling on the floor laughing ) and if you wanted to find him you would have to search possibly for your whole life. And if you were destined to find him you couldn't possibly avoid finding him.
I have fairly specific views on this one, can you tell? rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
The only Messiahs/Masters/Gurus whatever, we hear about are those who have had a religion built up around their teachings after they had left this plane. angel angel
At this point I worry about being too inflammatory, but I've spent a while typing this and maybe someone will be interested. peace heart wings heart wings peace

RE: The second Coming.........

yup. Agree with both previous texts

RE: The second Coming.........

I've been taught that He's come again many times. All through history there have been representatives of God and most of them have either only been discovered by those who were looking or have been murdered by people in power. There is always one here on earth but you will only find Him if you search and search AND if you are meant to.

RE: God exists???

If we could accept for a moment that God DOES exist and that He created everything, then what did He create it all out of? The only building material He would have had would be Himself. (I just can't write Itself and Herself seems to be trying too hard). So therefore we are God in a sense. Part of God anyway. And going all the way back to the evil question, yes of course he must have made that too.

Science has got as far as proving that everything at a sub-atomic level is only energy. What shall we call that energy? Maybe it's God stuff. (I'm sure I'll be put right on this any second laugh laugh )

The only way to really understand is to travel to a higher level, be it astral, causal or higher still. And that of course is the point. We can never understand until we move on from this mere physical level. Most of us will never do that until we die so we can never prove God's existence, just have our personal faith in whatever we believe in.

Or we can try and travel the higher realms prior to that event.

Off you go boys and girls. Report back at 05.00 hours.

RE: God exists???

I do not refer to myself as an Atheist however, I am a Humanitarian.

Hi there. Stuck my head in again.

Patrick, I think you are searching far too strongly? enthusiastically? whatever the word is, to ever be an atheist. You seem to have an urgent need to find an explanation for this world/your existence (as we all should). Is this more than just curiosity? dunno

Is there some deep seated need driving you? Or am I being too assumptive?

RE: God exists???

The biggest challenge is when we try to live other peoples lives. We should help where ever we can but we must protect our own ;ives as well.

There is sooo much suffering which we can't do anything about. It's so frustrating. But then this can at least put our own problems into perspective.

It's all karmic apparently. We suffer for our own sins. This means it's all my own fault which is even more frustrating. No one to blame! frustrated frustrated

RE: God exists???

I believe everything happens for a reason. Certainly not a reason we may be aware of.
All is in His/Her control. We may not like it (or we may REALLY like it. It depends doesn't it) but we should thank God for all the good things we receive AND for all the bad. We will learn to accept those bad things and move on with this life.
It takes a lot to get me upset nowadays (apart from other drivers rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing ) because of this approach.

He must know what's going on. He must be doing it/letting it happen for His own reasons. We'll find out one day.

Love everyone, Forgive everyone. Be happy with our lot, which doesn't mean we shouldn't be striving to improve and better ourselves all the time. heart wings heart wings heart wings heart wings heart wings heart wings heart wings heart wings heart wings heart wings heart wings heart wings heart wings heart wings heart wings heart wings

RE: is african proplem food or education

This seems to have become a forum about peoples personal problems rather than what we can do to help Africa.
I lived in what was then Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, 30 years ago. I met and lived with the people. My view of it is that we from the so called first world, think that the average African will think and act like us under any given circumstance. They won't.
The whites I met, while not forcing an apartheid system onto that country, still had very colonial master mentality and I preferred the black and coloured people I got to know so I'm trying not to be insulting in anyway. Just speaking as I found.
If we are to help we have to understand these people. Forcing our education on them won't help if it's completely alien to their way of thinking.
If we are going to speak of the past. Back when there was "White rule" in Rhodesia, it was one of the wealthiest countries in the world. And yes I am talking about all her peoples. There was a food surplus, and while people were poor they weren't starving. True, most whites were better off, but the rest of the peoples were some of the best paid in Africa.
Black rule was forced on them. May I suggest that it didn't exactly help.

RE: what is going on????

Hi polar.

Yes I'm being guilty of lurking again myself. I don't post much probably because I don't really know anyone and I'm all shy and nervous. Weeell a bit.

It does annoy me a tad when I read posts that are badly spelled etc, but that's because my mum was an old fashioned school mistress and we LEARNED. It rubs off. Also I like to read through without having to decipher what the post means. However I also agree that it's purely down to the individual how much care or ability they apply to their messages, we're all individuals.
But then even if a message was dreadful who am I to criticize?
That sounds dreadfully like a lecture laugh laugh
Sorry

RE: does anybody live out in a remote surburban place away from normal life ? whats it like ?

Born here. It is very small; even with the traffic (heavy) and the 35 mph max spped limit, you can drive right around it in less than an hour.
So where did I first go when I left? Africa. Obvious choice isn't it? It was a while ago. Where I went was still called Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe.
Since then I've lived all over but still ended up back here about 15 years ago and simply haven't left again. yawn yawn

So what's your story Gilly?

RE: Okay...I'm confused, so many people vanished.. hands up who's left.

RE: does anybody live out in a remote surburban place away from normal life ? whats it like ?

Well it's half way between two extremes here.
21 square mile island but 75,000 people. One high rise block! All of ten stories.
Some lovely pockets of countryside but only small.
The coasts are very varied though.
Long sandy beaches, 200 ft cliffs, and plain old rocky and barren areas. Quite a few shipwrecks around here, a couple of dozen in my lifetime, 3 big ones one winter.

The strangest place I Live is in my own head. I expect a lot of us can say that. rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
