I was working on final days care with a man who lived with his wife and son and daughter in law..
He was on the way out.. and was barely breathing at all by then.. So we had made him comfy and done all the things we do at that time.
His son came into the room and asked me & my co worker if we would put his teeth in.. So that they could bring his wife in (in her wheelchair) to say goodbye.. and that she had never seen him without his teeth in.. so could we pop them in.
Yep.. no probs.. (NORMALLY!)
Anywayy... We got the bottom teeth in no problemo.. But when it came to the top set.. YOWWY! His face had shrunk so much that it was almost like trying to cram a saucer into his mouth.
We fiddled around for a while... and gently.. managed to eeeeease them in.
His head was back.. and his mouth open.. and the top set kept dropping down.. over and over.. plopping back down into his mouth.
So we took them back OUT.. and squeezed some 'Fix-o-dent' I found in the bathroom to keep them in place.
So in they go again.. struggling again to get them in place.. and get them IN AT ALL.
Popped them in.. squeezed them up so that they stuck well..
Et voila!! all done..
The son wheeled his mother into the room... my colleague and I were stood one either side of the bed..
His wife held his hand.. and started to say some last words to him..
then!!!
the bloody top set of teeth fell down and clattered against the bottom ones!!
My partner and I exchanged a little look.. of OHMYGAWWD!.. and remained our professional selves
Until we got back out to the car.. and laughed most of the way back to the office..
I just nipped in to say HOLA! .. Oo I mean Kalimera! hahaha..
But I'm nipping out again now.. haha
I was THRILLED to get to spend (lots more) time with Jeffrey again in Athens.. she is abso-LOOT-lee LOVELY!!

I'm sorry I am miles behind with everyone.. I miss all my buddies and friends.. you know who you are.. and you know I am in a pain in the bum.. But I'm still around.. still alive and kicking.. and still think of you all. I just got a bit bored of CS for a while.

But I was reading on the news last week about a cop in NY that killed himself because he had ordered an officer to use a tazer on a mentally ill (naked) man who was standing on a fire escape..
I watched the video..
The poor man froze like a statue .. keeled over.. fell off.. hit the ground and died.
