Hi Bertrand, I don't mind, I have grown up ones and I found the boy easier, but I have time now, working part time, not so strapped for dosh.
Actually, I know it sounds a bit mad, but I am a bit jealous of my ex husband, who did have another baby, after refusing to have a vasectomy, so I went and got sterilised as we did not want anymore children.
There is a point to this thread somewhere, just not sure where yet!
I don't know about you Ambrose, but I am busy educating children, myself, on the basics of the English language, and when I see a government ordered vaccine alert, I think I might leave that to the folks who know more than me and not even profess to attempt a risk with a cup of Echinacea tea...
Of chancing it. It's a vaccine, not a cure, there is no guarantee.
Also, as a non national, if the government order a vaccine and I refuse, then I could be ordered back to my own country, regardless of whether there is a vaccine order there...
As a responible person, if my children are not allowed to ride their bicycle on the road without a helmet, because the department of transport say it is the law, my kids will not have a choice, they will wear a helmet. It is law here that all children pass a cycling test, before they are allowed on the roads, and that law states they must wear a helmet. They may not get killed if they don't, wear one, but I am not willing to take the risk...
The law states that on fairground rides that you must fasten your safety belts, guards... If you refuse are injured, then who is to blame.
If the law says we have to wear a seatbelt and our children have to be strapped in, for their safety, am I going to allow my children to roll around in the back of my car?
It may not save them, from death, but it may lower the risk...
Boils down to the risk, and I am not about to risk my life, my children's or that of 250 parents' children.

There is always common sense to be applied. With our health, most of us do it, I am not at all balking at any person who takes Vit C, and Echinacea, I believe in those preventitive measures and as a rule, I am not fond of medication.
But it is something that I take very seriously when a government orders a vaccine and that is not something that they have dreamt up, all countries have their red alert, danger actions in place. When one orders a red alert and informs 9 million people, a whole nation they recommend a vaccine, then I am listening and not banging on about my right to choose...
If Austria orders a national vaccine, as they ordered proof of a vaccinations of all school children last year when there was a measles epidemic, if you could not prove that your child had been vaccinated, or any given medical, mitigating circumstances why your child had not been vaccinated, then your child was excluded from school. I work at a school in Austria. If Austria orders all it's residents to be vaccinated, then I have to adhere to that, if I refuse and all of my boarding students parents order it, then you can be damn sure, I will not be the one they want teaching their children...
Perhaps you would like to have a talk with the farmers in the UK in 2001, about how they lost their homes because of foot and mouth disease? They stopped our children from climbing their fences to play naughtily in their fields, to keep them safe, while their hooved livestock were dying...
Those farmers thought about my children and despite what they were losing, had they not listened to DEFRA, and kept humans off the property, who knows what could have happened?
Or perhaps, the 39 year old mother to be, who died in England this weekend, of swine flu? Her family. She never had a chance to turn down the offer of a vaccine... She is dead and the baby died as well...
