RE: We need to make more babies or civilization will End.... The biggest threat to mankind?

We need to find a happy medium between the fast-breeding good old days where your little brother went missing never to be seen again and the modern helicopter parent and their autistic only sprog's so-called childhood.

RE: Is gas/petro cheap ?

Diesel is about 40%, petrol is about 30% and for the steam engine you were looking at about 5%. Only in the last ten to fifteen years have petrol and diesel engines become more efficient. More so petrol. It used to be about 30% and 20%. A diesel now does a quarter more miles it used to be about a third more.

RE: We need to make more babies or civilization will End.... The biggest threat to mankind?

With all the best arrangements I still think that many will have to move back in with our parents and afford to have kids that way. A bit like a 2nd world country which will probably feel quite liberating like an aristocratic family coming to terms with poverty. Finally we can stop keeping up appearances, finally we can relax

RE: We need to make more babies or civilization will End.... The biggest threat to mankind?

Consider it the reward for exercising a self-restraint that humanity never did before. In the modern world it's much harder to stay in-shape, harder to be fertile, and yet even more hard to settle down with a wife instead of spending your free time however way you want to. If you reinstate the tax advantages of marriage with a wife that never gets fat it might make the father of a family.

RE: We need to make more babies or civilization will End.... The biggest threat to mankind?

On the blogs there's a man saying we need to tax fatties but how about a rebate for those who stay in-shape? We must not listen to fat people who tell us that there are too many mouths to feed.

RE: We need to make more babies or civilization will End.... The biggest threat to mankind?

And I would argue that even now we can see the socially conservative leftism that will be this century's 1950s. Generous like the left but stifling like the right. A bit like veterans benefits although you don't have to have been in a war. A welfare state conducive to the battle for births. Anti-immigrant because that's what the workers want. The west will most probably turn out to be a lot less woke as the focus turns towards teaching kids to read, not literally, I mean to concentrate. In the 1950s there were many things you couldn't do anymore as well as many things you never did before.

RE: We need to make more babies or civilization will End.... The biggest threat to mankind?

And that's the point. The Somme happened precisely the way that it did precisely because the old guard (wrongly)viewed the world as overpopulated. Not saying that the first world war and the lockdowns were done specifically to cull posterity, but they certainly considered that a bonus or at least no harm done. They didn't see a reason not to kill a kid put it that way.

RE: We need to make more babies or civilization will End.... The biggest threat to mankind?

Maybe technology will save us but it will still come in a dramatic cultural shift in my lifetime if not yours. The race will soon be on to turn every childless adult into a parent. Having and raising kids might not look anything like it used to do but it will happen one way or another.

RE: We need to make more babies or civilization will End.... The biggest threat to mankind?

We can remark on the Jewish ability not to collapse when the rest of civilization does. How they manage to hold themselves back from the insane beehive that society becomes in its late stages. Israel reflects the unparalleled Jewish ability for group survival.

RE: We need to make more babies or civilization will End.... The biggest threat to mankind?

Yes if you believe that humanity growing ridiculously old means that there will come a great dying in the not too distant future. Which I do believe that. Elon Musk is right when talking about the elite and sub-elite where so much is old and little is new. It's definitely true for the west and some of other first world countries. Israel might be the only advanced country not en route to self-annihilation. The rest of the fat cats cannot see past their own nose.

RE: Martial law

Democracy is at bottom a defence of negative thinking. What could possibly go wrong? We'll tell you what could possibly go wrong.

Which is why authoritarian states come with mandatory positive thinking, the yes-men where optimism is cowardice.

RE: Martial law

Martial law makes the trains run on time but where the trains are going is a surprise.

Democracy slows everything down, waters everything down so you can rule out the best and the worst outcome. And the worst outcome is much worse than the best outcome is good. You can afford to lose a meal, you can't afford to die.

RE: Dot Cotton has left the stage...:(

Goodnight June you had a good innings

RE: Gender identity in sports

Full on Dr Frankenstein is the only way that somebody born male could compete against women in sport fair and square.

RE: Gender identity in sports

It doesn't bother me if trans men compete against the men. I don't expect they'll get very far but they're perfectly welcome to try.

But women's sports are more like youth leagues or the handicap games. They don't work unless you keep out people who are not these things.

At the end of the day trans is a mind over matter thing but sports are physical. Hormones and surgery are not enough you would have to literally take the brain out of a man's body and put it in the body of a woman. Only then could a trans woman compete against women.

RE: I Really Didn't Want This To Happen

Normally the way that fiction tells the truth is by transporting us to another time and place where we can speak without causing offfence to today's standards. Star Trek did that. None of us have skin in the game of the 24th century therefore you can comment on today by pretending that you're talking about the future.

And yet I'll accept punching a man live on stage as honest. Not that honesty is always the best policy. If you honestly feel like punching someone i say fake it until you make it. You didn't punch him in the face, you can build on that. But now everything else has to be a lie. I hit him in the face because of alopecia not because I have a wife who makes me want to kill myself. Sure you did, Will

RE: I Really Didn't Want This To Happen

Are you sure that's staged?

Sometimes I don't know what to believe coming out of Ukraine but in times likes this it would surprise me not at all if the most factual news story came to us from the world of fiction.

RE: The Rock gunning for Will Smith

Or at the very least a census of those who deserve to live in a burnt out railway

RE: The Rock gunning for Will Smith

I don't know. The world would be a better place if the people defending Will Smith were dead. It's like a litmus test for the sick and twisted

RE: Do you have a favourite philosopher?

A sense of duty is useful in work but offensive in personal relations. People wish to be liked, not to be endured with patient resignation.

Bertrand Russell

Which is why I won't import a wife or pay to see a therapist. This is the way the world ends, when everybody has their own therapist.

RE: Do you have a favourite philosopher?

When we ask for the abolition of the state and its organs we are always told that we dream of a society composed of men better than they are in reality. But no; a thousand times, no. All we ask is that men should not be made worse than they are, by such institutions.

Kropotkin

RE: Which expectations are realistic for your next relationship, after turning 55?

Tempted to say shotgun in the mouth but I'm sure there's a great new field of opportunity opening up.

RE: Say Anything

Pleased for you buddy

RE: Last tear

In 2016 I lost my best friend to a knife-wielding martial arts expert who was attacking a young woman. It was completely him to die like that, the man all over.

RE: Say Anything

Nice one Pedro I'm sure you're looking well

RE: Why do women destroy pictures after a separation?

Well they take too many photos to start with. The truth is that they have to make space for their photographs of breakfast

RE: Tourism

France/Belgium because every other holiday has involved the Mediterranean which is where a Brit goes to not remember any of it. Not remember a thing apart from a man coming off a motorcycle in Greece where they don't wear crash helmets. Man's skull, no helmet, pavement curb. That is the memory that will remain with me the longest.

RE: Going Home - What is Home?

Britain. Cheshire ideally if not so much these dark satanic tower blocks of Manchester. Home is where the heart is, but the money is with the alienation and sense of worthlessness.
