Irish girls are known as Colleen's or the Irish Càilìn....plenty of Irish women are called Colleen and I don't think their mothers mean to call their little girls after wenchs.
It may be the dictionary term and term that a certain germ of a woman means it to be known but Colleen is simply, Girl
