It wasn't a problem when the EU consisted of politically and economically similar countries. The trouble started when the ex Soviet Union countries joined. Britain did let far too many Asians into the country but that goes back years and can't be undone now. The best that can be hoped for now is the achievement of mutual toleration.
I don't think the average person was anywhere near qualified to make an intelligent decision on Brexit. The man on the street all too often tends to have his buttons pushed in accordance with the newspaper he reads. I have never heard so much rubbish spoken by politicians and various other spokesmen as during the lead up to the referendum. Not even the people who are running this country know whether Brexit will be a triumph, disaster or somewhere in-between, so I don't see how the idiot on the street could be expected to know.
The high number of Polish workers here seems to be a matter of concern to a lot of people. People think they are taking all the jobs and driving down wages. I don't think there are any real issues about them on a personal level, they don't behave badly and I don't think they cause any social problems. I get the impression that the Romanians are the least popular EU newcomers. The Asian/Muslim situation is a longer standing one and is nothing to do with the EU freedom of movement policy.
Only slightly more than half voted to leave, and I wouldn't be surprised if a good number of those have changed their minds now they can see the problems they were too stupid to anticipate. People voted for various reasons but, just listening to what people were saying, I got the impression the biggest concern was all the immigration from the recently joined Eastern European countries.
What are you being prevented from saying, Lee? You didn't answer me the last time I asked you this so I don't suppose you will this time, either. I've noticed whenever you are asked a question you can't answer you tend to forget about free speech in favour of your right to remain silent.
