Twenty years for me! Kids, studies, work, not settling for anything that doesn't suit me. Selfish or self-preserving? Could have been married three times over had I "settled". I respect myself too much for anything less than what I deem 'right'.
I sooo know what you mean, Prowler. Which is why I'm here, at home, on CS!! It's just not worth the hassle and heartache. I'd rather be alone than in an uneven relationship. True friendship between a man and woman is not all that common. It can happen but more often than not, either lust or matters of the heart raise their heads.
I had a FWB last year. It was good for both of us! We had lots in common and it may have gone further had he not had to go OS Still, it was verrry nice while it lasted;)
Hi Freo - Your son sounds very much like my son - now 28. He has finally been diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome. This diagnosis has explained so much of his behaviour, as a child and now. Check it out for yourself. I hope with all my heart he doesn't give up, he sounds like a beautful human being!
And thanks Kat and everyone else for your wonderful, insightful and supportive posts about depression.
A Very Big Boo to the Federal Govt for decreasing the number of visits to a psychologist a person with a Mental Health Plan can access.
My whinge is : I work part time by choice. Trouble is that every time I have more than two days off, work rings me to do extra shifts. It's got to the point where I don't answer the phone anymore!!!!
I have 5 days off (back on Wednesday) and have been rung twice already. Very boring!
Couldn't agree more! Didn't necessarily even have to be a chicken and/or a rooster. Just had to be something resembling one or t'other- tada - mutation!! Adapted to the surroundings perhaps?
Goddag Her Kontiki! Er dig Norske hvis Thor Heyerdahl?
Hiya jimbob - I've had Type 2 since 2000 (my Annus Horribilus!!) HbA1c is usually about 6.2, 6.4. Got up to 7.2 when I was doing a desk job for 2 months. Doc said if it went any higher I'd have to go on insulin - no mucking around with tablets. At the moment I'm taking Metformin 1g a.m. and p.m.
When I'm working on the ward (Midwife), all is good - lots of exercise running around a very busy ward plus the odd walk. Like I said above, when I was in the Antenatal Clinic on a desk job up went the HbA1c!! Exercise and weight loss is the key!
Make sure you get your eyes checked at least one every two years for diabetic retinopathy - can send you blind.
Diet is not that hard - stay with low GI foods (foods that take a long time to digest) and low fat. So no refined carbs, sugars. Your walking is excellent. The more weight you can take off, the better the BSLs will be eventually. As said before, stress and illness will raise BSLs a lot. Make sure you drink at least 2L water a day. Did you know we lose about 800mls/day just by breathing?!! So keep the fluids up - also helps keeps hunger at bay.
Now - your knees...Gentle exercise is good. Walking in a pool is excellent. I have a friend who is also Type 2 and has terrible arthritis in her knees and feet. She walks in the pool, eats a low GI diet and her HbA1c is great - better than mine at times! Do you wear braces on your knees? Would they help?
I actually have two degrees - BNsg/Sc and MM(Masters of Midwifery). I was also a Mature Age studen(40 when I started the Nursing and 50 when I finished the Midwifery).
I believe it all depends on the smartarse in the debate. Who is trying to PROVE their POINT??? One can agree to disagree or walk away from an argument or argue it to the death, up to you, really.
Been offline for a while - Hey Tara! I'll miss you early Feb. but I'll be down there 22-27 Feb. Suppose I've missed the boat again! (Oops- lol)
How about you Loveable?
Any takers??
I'm down there for my eldest's wedding on 25thFeb and back in Bris/T'bar on 27thFeb. He's in Thornbury. I don't know Melbourne at all, so have no idea where that is and would dearly love a guide - preferably tall, dark and handsome!!
CS is an adult dating site.As suvh I do not feel it is anapprobriate venue for picture of children, yours or anyone elses. Being a relatively annonymous site, you just never knwo who/what is lurkign out there.
Yet Inn saying that, I do applaud SXX for uploading pix of her new grandson and thank her for that. It was a much awaited and joyfully awaited birh by many here!
I've been on this site for a VERY long time. Had a few dates. Boring. One fellow even at his pizza with a knife and fork, then ate his lasagne with his desert spoon - too woosy to ask for another fork! FFS!
I may be 57, but FFS I'm not retired or even looking at it yet! I want someone with some LIFE left in them.
How ya gonna quantify that?
Signed,
Getting a bit sick and tired and bored of even looking!
