The "great" civilisations of the past didn't FAIL miserably or we wouldn't be calling them GREAT.
They FELL due to many reasons, some social, some military and some from outside pressure.
The ancient Greek civilisation didn't "fail" since we're still using their system of government.
The Roman empire didn't "fail", we're still using their military tactics and many other aspects of their civilisation.
Just because a civilisation is no more doesn't mean they failed.

I don't think it's that bad. It only seems to be because now information goes around the world in seconds and people are more confused and scared than ever.
Spin and propaganda have existed since Adam and Eve. There will always be propaganda as long as there are morons who believe that people whom they've never met actually care one iota about them or their lives.

I compare tv to internet and CS is part of internet. I think tv ratings readership for newspapers are down because people have found that internet is better... I mean for those who are used to think for themselves.

I like to read what people have to say online since tv is so dependent, controlled and biased and won't give the general populace a platform.
I often find out about what's going on in the world reading threads in forums before it's out in the general Media.
I used to watch CNN - back when I still watched TV - until they devolved into a Leftist propaganda machine and then got Trump Derangement Syndrome.

If some people haven't figured out what they're dealing with by now then they're helpless, clueless and might as well stay on the sinking ship 'cause they won't swim to save their lives.
