RE: if u could buy

Never mind them - here is a true story
A motor engineer mate of mine LEGALLY fitted an old Jag V12 and manual gearbox in an immaculate 1970's LWB Ford Transit Motorhome. He and his wife drove it courteously and never broke speeding laws etc as they went all over the UK in it at week ends and on holidays.

They were constantly stopped by the woodentops when they saw its conditions and especially the twin Stainless exhausts and wanted to see the docs including the log book, so he used to carry the Cert of Insurance Licence and MOT on his person but he fixed a framed photocopy inside the rear door and said he refused to carry the proper one in case the van got nicked.

After a while the story got around the traffic cops in several counties had seen them more than once so they just used to wave, flag them down for a chat and a cuppa.

They now live in France

RE: will there ever be a black king of england ?

I and many people are still convinced that all of them in that car were meant to have died and the evidence of delay in getting her to hospital was intentional in case anyone involved saw anything. The evidence against Henri Paul was fabricated to suit after the event and Trevor Rees Jones's *memory* loss or *failure* was *rewarded* if we read between the Lines !!

I also think Fatty Soames (Wing Nut's mate) nearly let the cat out of the bag a year later when he was being interviewed by a very hard nosed sceptical reporter.

Another one was the Kelly *Suicide* after he confirmed there were no WMD's in Iraq - I do not believe that either - No senior Civil Servant of his rank that I know would do that.
The evidence or lack thereof points to him being murdered by the CIA/MI5 goons to cover Bush & B'liar's warmongering intent.

AAH - I see she's bac and E ain't so could be @tother way round laugh devil

RE: will there ever be a black king of england ?

Can't see it happening.
It was bad enough that Diana was assasinated at the mere thought that a Muslim might father one born to her who might have had to be given right of accession.

If Harry or Billy the kids marry a black girl and they have a black male child it MIGHT happen.

After that event you could set up a competition in Manchester called Earwaxfest to see who removes the most.

The first prize could be a week in the Welsh speaking Mountains nudist colonly in the height of winter looking for goats

RE: love on the net???!

Woops - For courgar read courage

RE: Book

Interesting comment - Maybe it is a case of where others, especially many younger people can only use a computer to get their information and have no patience with reading actual books, writing or even art and drawing.

There are also many young people today who leave school and having been through Primary and Secondary education for 10 years leave school at 16 unable to read, write legibly or do basic mathematics.

SAD

RE: Why

After all the dirty linen stuff near Christmas time I do not intend posting much here again but have to agree - Blue is not the right attitude for airing what should be off list

RE: Book

Christmas present - *Lightning from the Cockpit* by Peter Caygill. Published by Pen & Sword Aviation 2004
He was one of my squadron (74)Pilots when we got the Mk 1's in 1960

Interesting read IMO especially for all who have had any contact with them and enthusiats who went to airshows and saw them and what they can do.

Fiction has never appealed to me apart from some of the works by Dickens.

RE: New hobbies for 2009

Great stuff Helga

Seriously - I think *you* could be very creative with a potters wheel if you get the right tutition and your own wgheel and furnace.

That investment could even lead to a small cottage industry for you in a niche market. - As a model maker since I was 6 and having done it professionally too, I still love watching the potters skills *throwing* a pot and creating simple yer stylish shapes from just a lump of slip.

Go for it Gal
Cheers
Mike

RE: recommend a song for the post above

One of my all time favourites having played and sung it as a vocal and as an Instrumental, part arranged by me for Vibes, Jazz guitar, Flute, Bass and Drums version.

The Carpenters - For all we know

For All We Know

Love, look at the two of us

Strangers in many ways

We’ve got a lifetime to share

So much to say and as we go on from day to day

I’ll feel you close to me

But time alone will tell

Let’s take a lifetime to say

I knew you well

For only time will tell us so

And love may grow for all we know

Love, look at the two of us

Strangers in many ways

Let’s take a lifetime to say

I know you well

But only time will tell us so

And love may grow for all we know

Cheers to all and again All the breast of duck for 2009

RE: If you could go back in time

Pleas do not think I am being patronisng in any way

BUT - Whatever I were to list specifically would most probably be mis-understood.

However - It is obviously theoretical as we cannot turn the cloc back and at my age (71) there are many things that with wisdom and hindsight, I would not have done, and others where I would have acted differently and with lesser, or greater, diplomacy than I did, especially when I was in my early twenties in the early 1960's and even later.

That is why, whenever this subject arises in social conversation as it does frequently, if over 60's are present among people in their 30's-40's who express thoughts as you are rightly entitled we tend to only listen and, in this case,
read with interest I might add - what *you* have to say.

Best wishes to you all for 2009

Mike @ Sunny but bloody freezing Broadstairs
