But the US DoE gave Phillips, a $10m grant to do the research and development of the LED lightbulb. A lightbulb that will now compete with the bulbs made here in the US.
OH...yes. Our Obama government is still at work making jobs in foreign countries with the American tax payers dollar.
It is not like Phillips, one of the worlds largest companies, could not afford the $10m for inventing this new bulb. That is pidgeon feed money to Phillips. Specially for a innovotative product like this, that will likely capture a large market share.
Basically the Obama government gave a research grant to a firm that make and hold market share for several decades as American firms try to catch up.
