Alan Greyson is back. Running for one of the two new Congressional districts in Florida. Greyson has a Social Security add out....were.....his opponent REP Long is going to 'privatize' social security.
This of course to many DEM is a hot button that triggers a immediate reflex reaction.....and Greyson's add has them saying to REP Long.....
"REP Long, Keep your hands off my Social SECURITY".
Greyson's add is likely the model for the Obama/Biden attacks adds that are going to come on Romney/Ryan regarding Social Security. So it is worth a moment to first clarify and explain REP privatization ideas of SSI.
If I was to tell you, there was a government program for a retirement funding, that you paid into during your working year, that the FEDERAL gov't invested in bank bonds collecting a interest, and then later when you hit the retirement years, began to repay you......you might call it a "privatize program" because of the bank bond purchase. Well that is what SSI was when first developed by FDR to be in the 1930s. These bonds were called "Trusts".
But over time, the original concept of SSI was legislately altered. SSI payment went first to the Government's General fund, were they (Congress) could shift them from the purchase of trusted bank bonds. Both pasties have tapped it in the past. But this is one of the reason that SSI today is going broke.
What also has happened is as the countries birth rate changed post WWII, it means that a flood of baby boomers coming into the repay side. Drawing the invested funds down to approaching insolvency levels.
The REP want to further privatize the payout part of SSI. Running a private firm to write checks and mail them out...is cheaper than paying the host of Government unionized worker bees to do it. But as for changing the main concept of SSI....government collection of SSI payments and investing them in interest bearing bank bonds, the 'Trust' part. No. That stay the same. This is the REP goal of most that REP. You may have a few that want other changes as well. I know Ron Paul has some ideas on SSI.
Other countries are privatising their SSI. To reduce management cost.
The later is a 35 page report from AARP in privatized SSI around the world. So privatization of SS is not a radical concept. They been doing it since the 1990s. It has to be done with fiscal responsibility. You want a private company that can process the millions of SSI checks that are mailed out monthly. One that has solid banking relationship with some major accounts.
It is not radical a concept as the DEM are saying. Poland, Chile and Nicagua have been doing it for over 20 years.

It is this campaign debt promise of Obama, I think got Bill calling Obama the names that Klien picked up on for his book.
On the bigger picture for the 2012. This means that the die hard Hillary supporters.....have a choice. She has unlocked them to vote Romney and Ryan. Say what you might, Hillary still has a die hard voter block in the country of several million. They are just waiting for her 2016 announcement. But till then, they get the Obama/Biden or Romney/Ryan choice. If they think that Obama mistreated Hillary by reneiging on the campaign debt or sending her into the wilds of Russia or refusing to allow her to speak at the DNC....sade bar the door.

Again the firm faces a devaluation of their credit ratings. Bond holders around the world get nervous and the financial monitoring firms Moodys, S and P....will again look to devalue first the borrowing frims. Then the lending organization that made the bad investment....the good old USA.
With that devaluation your next car will carry a higher interest rate. The foreign commerce that country does will carry a higher interest rate. You next house or student loan....higher interest rates.
Until those 928 firms pay off the last dime of the bailout, the taxpayer is on the hook. Already CBO is saying they see 60b that is not going to be repaid. Note they are not saying from whom. But you want to bailout a firm twice in four years time? Not me. Let it sink. M and A it. Merger and Acquisition it. Merge some of the division and sell others. FEDERAL tax on a gallon of gas is 18.4 cents per gallon. Coughing? Put 20 gallon in your tank....and you just gave Washington $3.68. Go across the country.....you just gave Washington $27 of the $500.
Is 18.4% of $4.00 more than 18.4% of $3.50? For the math challenged. The answer is yes. Hence President Obama has little incentive to bringing the price of gas down. If he does he is getting less revenues from the FEDERAL gas tax. The way the DEM look at this....high gas prices are a good thing. It is more tax revenues to spend on benefit programs....or Nancy Pelosi's California Marsh Mouse.))
If you want dollar and cents reasons why President Obama did not sign the Keystone....did not expand drilling in FEDERAL lands....shut down offshore drilling during the PB release....keeps offshore area on the east coast closed to drilling....has kept the Alaskan fields from be expanded. We are not going to have a green electric auto revolution in this next four years. GM is barely keeping the Volt line open. The lithium battery technology for the Volt is literally exploding. The is the votaile nature of lithium....all lithium batterys have same potential fire and explode if they burst and the heated lithium comes into contact with air. So the green auto technology of lithium is not proven safe as of yet. It is good enough to drive. But crash safety is still a issue. So we are still stuck with gas.
With the Obama administration is high priced gas.
Romney/Ryan energy independence by 2020 promise changes this. Unlikely is that the 18.4 per gallon tax will come down....it might.....but not significantly. But you do all the things to be energy independent will drive the cost per gallon down. So the 18.4% tax is on a cheaper gallon of gas.
Even though Obama has increased the production of crude in the country to the highest in 26 years and to it highest export level. But did the price of gas come down in the country? No. Why foreign demand and speculation in the market place kept it high. In the last month, the price per barrel has spiked to $120 and dropped to today's $92. Almost a $30 difference. Did the pump price come down recently? Nope.
We are not energy independent enough yet to have a low pump price when world events....and weather events......and geo political events occur. Our energy independence has to be resistant to global events. The only way to do that, is to be very near 100% energy independent and the government has the speculator under control.
Obama is not going to take us there. His vision is a green America. One with flaming Fischers and Volts. But still energy independent, in long term. No official energy program by the Obama adminstration has been given in 4 years.
Romney and Ryan's plan will get us to being energy independent sooner. With that, our pump prices will come down sooner and will resist global events that effect price more.

What does the 4% solution do for the world economy and then for individual countries economies around the world? Simple it means both are paid back billions sooner than if we remain at the Obama's >2.0% grown rate.
China economy has slowed in the last year. Europe is in austerity. Asian economies are slower today. The middle east is well the middle east. South America can use a injection of funding for growth. Africa is always in seek of capitol injections.
If the US begins to repay these debts, the owed countries will have billions in additional funds to ease austerity, jump start economies, take on new projects or expand human benefits packages.
Do you think that Britian could use $333b? It gets that $333b the US owes it sooner if the US has a 4% growth rate. Germany has been funding many of the austerity programs in the EU. Think that Germany could use 61.4b? That is what the US owes Germany. A 4% percent solution gets that 61b into the German economy and government hands sooner that the present Obama repayment plan.
I think that many in the world look at the US debt wrong. Rather than sees it as a opportuntity to get a large return if the country turn the corner on a solid economic recovery. They see it has a inheritant weakness in capitolism. But a healthy US economy can be a real spark plug to global economic recovery. Assuming those loans are paid back.
Even in the old Communist and WARSAW pact days, the socialist countries made large loans to each other. So just being socialist is not going to halt these government lending practices. The question is does a America that is moving toward a socialist model repay the loans or does a America that is based on a free economy model repay the loans better. The REP have identified the problem and have developed plan to solve it. What has Obama done? Borrowed more foreign money. For a US stimulus package. That just digs the hole deeper.
Obama GNP growth rate of the last four years been less than 2%. If Ryan is right, his coming tax policies are going to drop it to 1%. That is the effect of his socialist model on America. Ryan is right you place a 44% tax on American business, our GNP will decrease. We will not be competitive in the global marketplace. Our risk taking will decrease. Because there has to be profit incentive for risking taking to take place.
The impact of a solid American economy in the world is what? If billions being pay back our foreign loans and paid back sooner is positive to the global economy and foreign economies......then Romney and Ryan is the next administration you want in the White House.

With the primaries done and the nomination process nearly done.....Florida election offices (and I suspect most other states election offices are the same) no longer list the voters by party in their registries. The primaries list of REP, IND, Liberian, DEM, Green, and all the rest of the minority parties are compiled into a 'master registry'. That goes to the state election office for final review and approval.
Literally from here on out to the General election in November....they are all just "American voters" without party identification.

Ryan says that if Obama business taxes are placed into effect....the US tax rate for small business will be 44%, one of the highest rates in the world. Canada's business tax rate is 15%, Japan's is 13% and most of the countries we compete with in the global market are less. Ryan plan would drop small business tax rate to 25% from 33%. Stimulating small business hiring and risk taking.
But the only way to drop the taxes rate, is cut the FEDERAL government's size and spending.

President Obama inability to stop the PB oil spill continues to haunt the beaches of the South East Gulf states. With Hurricane Isaac stirring up the deep water near the bottom...the fear is tar balls from the PB well release come ashore.
With the coastal gaming casino opening up again, the locals fear is that families will not come to the coast to enjoy labor day events. In fact many of the beaches have been closed. Because of the potential tar balls.
Really had the FEDERAL government shut off the well head sooner, this would be small problem. Less tar would be on the bottom. But it took 93 day and a New York City plummer to shut down the well head.
