RE: Two Wolves

Absolutely brilliant!!! I'm gonna print this!! Thank you

RE: How would you react if one of these girls was YOUR daughter???

My daughter did get pregnant when she was 17 1/2 in spite of the fact she was well informed (by me) about contraception and anything she wanted to know AND I had taken her to the doctors to arrange for contraception as she was in a "steady relationship" with a guy slightly older than her ... I didn't particularly like the choices she was making (boyfriend wise) but apart from discussing them with her and being supportive I did not see what else constructive I could do. I knew to "forbid" her to see him would be useless unless I kept her locked up at home ... Sometimes older children make choices in their lives the parents can do not much about ... Apart from being there for them when they need advice or support to face up to the sometimes far reaching consequences of their choices ... She's now 24 with 2 beautiful kids and is rebuilding her life without the company of the "unsuitable" partner although he is still involved with the kids ...

In the case of the multiple pregnancies of the OP sounds like a different cenario ...

RE: WHEN DO YOU EAT THE MOST ....?

Sounds pretty nasty Smoky ... mine's been "brewing" for a couple of days so I'd been doing some self-healing and drinking herbal tea to try get rid of the stomach cramps and colic pains ... this morning I knew why they had been there!!! laugh

But after drinking the water from boiled rice for lunch and drinking plenty of water had a nice sleep this afternoon. Think I'm already on the mend!!!! Just had a bowl of boiled rice and feel sooooooooooooooo much better!!!

RE: HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM?

rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing Lago you are so funny!!!

RE: HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM?

Smoky thank you, you read evrything just right, in the end I stopped feeling the need to justify myself .... as all it did was fuel the whole thing even more ... tryed to finish on a humorous note but even that got a reply I decided to ignore ...

Guiri I already asked you in one of my post why you needed to sound so "downputting and generalising" and you got even more defensive/downputting ... so lets clarify: the "health advice" you were giving made sense" BUT the way you needed to run down/put down one type of person or other in order to do so was not nice including the reference to "older ladies". And may I point out that your down putting comments were mostly directed at ladies, mothers included ...

RE: HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM?

laugh Nothing that drastic!! Only just got out of a very structure way of life in UK and enjoying every second of pretty much not knowing what I am going to do from one day to the next!!! apart from the salsa class!!! hahahaha! But pretty much always been a bit of a rebel, sometimes in small ways but always grin

Now Guiri ... loosen up a bit cheering says the kettle to the pot!!! rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

RE: HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM?

I'll make sure I'm still doing it when I'm older!!! There is a couple of other things that are also good cardiovascular exercise for the older lady ... and I fully intend to still be doing that too when I'm older!! rolling on the floor laughing

Your argument is defenately water-tight ... just as well coz I don't swim that well!! laugh although I still don't like the sound of the "structure bit"...

handshake

RE: What would make your day?.. what would be the BEST thing to hear right now.

That my kids & grankids are coming to visit ... now!!!! hug

Failing that ...

That my divorce is totally and completely finalised ... yay

RE: Height???

laugh Absolutely!!! grin

RE: WHEN DO YOU EAT THE MOST ....?

sigh Just sent Gongman to the village to get me a few bits!!! I think this is not food poisoning as a couple of friends we met up with locally had just had it one after the other, so defo a "tummy bug" ...

RE: HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM?

You did when you stated that anyone who doesn't go to the gym is not looking after their body (or words to that effect) ... you also stated "if you want to get slim, go to the gym"

As for this statement:

"Life is just so much more complicated than munching a carrot and pushing your kids around the park"

Why do you have to sound so down putting and generalising? Some of us don't "munch carrots" or "push kids around the park" some of us eat slow carbohydrates at every meal AS WELL AS other vegetables and meat (I am not vegetarian) and or raw veg/fruit /cereals etc. My kids are both over 20 soooooooooooo it's a long time since I "pushed them around the park" although I have been known to run around a park with my grandchildren recently!!! laugh And btw I recently started a formal healthy exercise plan: salsa dancing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing although I am sure that a more "traditional gym one" would reach some parts that salsa doesn't ... Salsa is sooooooooooooo much more fun!!! dance elephant dancing

RE: HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM?

Yeah!!! and Nah!!!

When I'm happy I put on a bit of weight which is more than welcome as I'm usually on the skinny side of slim even though I don't have to watch what I eat ... or rather I do ... I have to make sure I eat loads or I get skinny ...

RE: WHEN DO YOU EAT THE MOST ....?

moping moping blues Looks like I won't be eating too much next couple of days!!! I got a tummy bug that's doing the rounds at the mo!!!! Bloody bugs!!!

RE: Height???

RE: Height???

RE: We have a CS Engagement!!!!

Congratulations Katie and Iceman!!! May you have many beautiful years of sharing and loving together!! applause applause

teddybear

Dana well done for starting this thread!!! bouquet

RE: HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM?

laugh What you were saying made sense for people who are inactive and don't have good diets (modern lifestyles)...

I am 48, have had 2 kids and I AM SLIM and toned!!! ... BUT I don't go to the gym, never have and never been on a "get slim diet" either, what I do is eat a balance diet grin of minimum 3 meals a day + the occasional snack in between ...

RE: WHEN DO YOU EAT THE MOST ....?

I tend to lose my appetite when I feel miserable ... so I get really skinny and drawn blues

RE: HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM?

laugh Well if they're not fit when they start they sure will be when they've finished!!

RE: HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM?

Ok you are probably right BUT nevertheless, gyms became a necessity of modern life when people started leading "unhealthy" lives with little exercise and poor diets ...

My grandmother lived till the age of 90 odds and was very strong and healthy apart from the very last few years but I garanty she never set foot in a gym

RE: meeting someone

cheers teddybear

On a different note ... there's a festival we might be going to in Cadiz in Aug ... since we haven't made it that way yet ... still have to go get my car from UK ...

RE: HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM?

Wrong!! Or may be you are right for poeple who sit on their bumbs all day in an office then spend all day watching tv at the weekend ...

As caring for oneself, there are many people I know who religiously go to the gym then guzzle down many pints of beer and stuff themselves with junk food!!! As far as I am concerned a balanced diet and active life is way more important than joining a gym

grin

RE: HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM?

laugh Omission by design!! wink

RE: HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM?

People who have fast metabolism and very active life don't need a gym to stay in shape!!

RE: HAVE YOU EVER JOINED A GYM?

Nope!!!

Played five aside at work for afew years once a week (with the guys!!!laugh ) and that about amounts to ALL the public exercise I have done in the last few years!! laugh

RE: why should women expose much and men never...

hug It's not about beauty ... it's partly about attraction ...

There are plenty of allegedly beautiful people who I just don't find attractive and the opposite is also true... there are people who are not beautiful in the traditional sense of the term but they are just soooooooooooo attractive!!!!

So don't beat yourself up about it Elley ... Different women find different things attractive about a man's physique ... These were just not it and so what!!!! hug hug

RE: Extra extra I got a date,really!!!

Thank you Foreveryoung bouquet

RE: imagine

now you're talking serious stuff there Flower..

goodness me... no sugar?

that's really bad...

I can give up cigarettes no problem if I want to... I've done it just out of "pelotas" but I don't think I could do it with chocoalte..

If I ever have to give sugar up for forced reasons... I think I will be the most unhappy person on earth... and the grumpiest... and the worst tempered of all....[/quote]

Don't worry D/F you'll be fine!!! You know what they say about the "happy" hormone produced by chocolate ... well you can get it from other food sources too : Serotonin is manufactured in the body from the amino acid tryptophan, which is present in most protein-based foods. High levels of tryptophan are found in cheese, meat, soya beans, sesame seeds, chocolate, oats, bananas, dried dates, milk and salmon. Trouble is would we be able to get some of those foods then dunno

Never mind there is ONE other thing that has a similar effect on happy hormone production and IS freely available and works every time banana banana grin

RE: imagine

I doubt anyone (apart from you 2 hahaha!) will be THAT worried about pepper or cinamon if things get that bad ... salt however is needed by the body in small quantities ...

And sugar ... there will be LOADS of grumpy aggressive people around coz they haven't had their sugar fix. Withdrawl symtoms from sugar are stronger that withdrawl symptoms from tobacco ... I know because I had to give up ALL sugar consumption in all it's forms at one stage for medical reasons (now I'm just careful) and I was astounded at the strength of the withdrawl symptoms even though I never had a sweet tooth or even have sugar in my hot drinks or drink fizzy drinks ...

RE: imagine

My parents and their parents had to during the civil war in Spain ... They lived from their land, walked miles and miles to collect firewood for the fireplace (to cook) ... some people in the village were not so fortunate and had no land to cultivate ... There was a lot of hunger and poverty ...

Hopefully I have inherited a lot of their survival skills and I was taught a lot of the "old fashioned home making skills without the use of electricity" as I was growing up ... When I was a kid (in France) we had no running water (a well in the garden) and heating was a wood burner ... we used to have electricity but no washing machine and when we visited my grandmother (in Spain) she had no electricity ... she had alcohol lamp/candles and still cooked in the fireplace ... I know a bit about building and how to cut and sew by hand or pedal operated machine, knit, crochet, mend etc ... I think if need be I will make clothes for people in exchange for food and services + I will open a healing surgery for people who can't afford medicines or the doctors fees (on donations all kinds accepted - money or goods). Will have to get my parents to teach me what they know about "growing stuff" as I don't know much about it ... grin

I think people will re-learn "swapping" services/goods and those who have manual skills will be in great demand - it will be a society role reversal applause Even more estate agents (and may be lawyers) will go bankrupt!!! applause
