Absolutely agree ... unfortunately my lovely daughter decided (or events of her own doing, made it that way) to leave the nest before she had quite reached the age of having fully mastered the taking off and landing safely fortunately for her, her nest was not too far away from mine back then ...

However, she has now matured into a fairly safe flyier ... specially since she has had to "fly solo" ...

Thank you Smoky for saying such lovely things about me (& us) in my absence ... also read what you wrote in another thread As I said before it would be an honour to meet you ... so if you fancy a break in the Spanish mountains (in total and beautiful comfort) and only 30/45 min drive from the nearest coastal busy life ... let us know!!!

In the last 2/3 years, I decided to stop being the emotional and financial support system for everyone around me ... and start looking after myself (especially after a very very serious healthscare) and do what is necessary to live how I want to live and NOT how I had to live in order to support far too many (some of them undeserving) people ...

Yeah!!!! "THEY" noticed ok!!!! My "any time now officially" ex-husband has noticed for sure, he has to cope with ALL his self-created messes (financial and otherwise) all by himself ... My very dear but grown up children have to "manage" with just THEIR bank account and taking rersponsibility for THEIR decisions without my shoulder or purse available at the drop of a hat etc ...

Wow!!!!! For the last few months I actually was able to sleep the whole night, week after week, month after month without having to deal with someone else's drama ...

I had been working on pursuing my dream for a couple of years ... as I was about ready to make the final jump after having left my job of 16 years, sold my home and given away or sold most of my belongings, (and after realising that Australia didn't beckon after all as a detour before continuying to pursue my dream), I happened to connect on may levels with a wonderful guy who happens to be perfect for sharing my dream with ... just means I ended up a little more towards the west of southern Spain than where I had planned to settle ... the dream is slowly but beautifully taking shape ...

That's coz we speak/write in Venusian and you guys speak/write in Martian ...

That is why we have soooooooooooooo many misunderstandings ... like for instance ...

In Venusian NO means "no" ... But in Martian NO means "Yeah!!! She wants me ... how could she not want me - I'm the best thing since sliced bread, she's just playing hard to get"

In Martian "Of course I love you" means "Of course I love you" but in Venusian it means "Oh! My God! He doesn't love my anymore ... He must fancy THAT blond he was chatting to at the supermarket check out last night"



All we gotta do is swap dictionaries!!! hahahaha!

Thank you ... and if you think about WHEN the tale was written ... A foundamental truth HAD to be disguised by men for men as "woman wanting mastery" most of the literary people were blokes ... but I bet the few women who could read or write back then READ it differently ...

Some of us as slow learners ... when it comes to listening to actions not words, really seeing, paying attention to inner voice (the good one) etc ...

I can assure you there is nothing romantic about discovering your husband's self-esteem is so low that he can't stand for you to have a life that includes any form of "enjoying what you're doing - including work" away from his side and his way of dealing with it is to chip, chip, chip at you ... for years on end ... I believe I was not "strong enough" to deal with "it" in a way that would not affect me because of my own low self-esteem at the time ... Insidious stuff ...

Nor is it romantic to discover that you were "lied to"/him his family were economical with the truth about the enormity of my second husband's mental illness and the implications there of ... or may be I did not make sure I was "informed enough" about the implications there of ... can't blame everything on others ... May be I needed that experience to be who I am now ...


Whichever way ... making "judgements" on others and their past lives is easy ... looking at oneself and learning from the choices we make or don't make requires a lot more guts ...

Rusty ... take care and DO look after yourself ... I wish for you to have a successful appointment with the therapist you are meeting up with (I read on other thread) ... Remember though ... it is so much more difficult to "see oneself" and accept our own flaws and love oneself anyway whilst "working" at "being who one wants to be" ... It takes guts to keep going and "working at it" ... I believe you DO have the strength - although sometimes YOU might see it as a weakness on your part, sometimes what we perceive as our weaknesses will actually become our strentghs ONCE we've faced up to, accepted and work from there ...

I'll stop rambling on now ...

And ... hey presto ... because there was no pressure and she didn't feel controled and he was not looking for HIS best interest ... the old hag chose to be beautiful ALL THE TIME

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

The tale I know has a slightly different ending ...

The old hag says to the knight that she can be beautiful by day for all to see her as his beautiful wife but then she would revert to her old hag self by night for him alone OR she could be her old hag self by day for all to see and be beautiful by night for him alone ... She then asks him to choose ....

Which would you guys choose? and why?
