'Sometimes'??? That's an understatement. I see it happening 'most' of the time. Hijacking a thread seems to be a favourite hobby of some folks in here.
Hi RNG!! Maybe I should have said 'plus' instead of 'odd'. Traditionally, we distribute home made cake to all and sundry - from the security guard at our housing complex to the peon at office. Its a pain really but tradition is tradition.
Then why don't you bring in Christmas with family or friends? Never be afraid of being alone - I don't presume to know how you feel but 'alone' can be good if you look at all the bruised relationships around you.
Awww Hugz!! Do you have the midnight mass there? You could take your daughter there and like here, there would probably be a fellowship after the service where all the parish folk mingle over coffee and cake. Its a great atmosphere and you would enjoy it - do try it.
NO, its because you want to PROJECT yourself as a grumpy, cantanckerous, unhappy, old man. You have a great sense of humor, you say it like you see it (which I like) and you have a heart....ya, ya, ya, deny, deny, deny. I don't post much but I read a lot........
Personally, I think its as commercial as you want it to be. But what about the spirit of Christmas? What about the sharing and caring that soooo many people exhibit? Watching my girls spend time with the aged through the year and then buying little gifts for each of them (from their own pocket money) fills my heart with pride and my eyes with tears - THAT is Christmas for me.
Am not worried - used to cooking for large numbers. Christmas Lunch is 'open house' - anyone can walk in and expect lunch AND a gift under the Christmas tree....that's a tradition I picked up from the Loreto Nuns who raised me.
