Yep, I always go for the deal, that tends to dictate menu choices. Last week was sirloin, the week before was chicken breast for $1.69/lb. so we were chicken eating fools around here. lmao.
This week, I got more sirloin, now $3.99/lb...but still really good quality and marbling. The catfish came from the reservoir 2 miles away, and about 15 minutes with some cheese bait. I filleted, and froze the pieces. I find it better to batter frozen, and deep fry, by the time the batter has that beautiful golden brown color, the fish has cooked to a nice moist and tender doneness, otherwise the fish would turn out a bit on the rubbery side of chewy. I also got some American style Kobe beef, which will make the most tender burgers. You gotta really mix it well, I use that to blend in spices. Otherwise, it tends to not cook evenly and there are parts that could remain, and I quote Gordon here... RAW! lol
I generally prefer creating my own meals, cheaper and often better than restaurant fare. I get to try out new things, techniques, ingredients. I really do enjoy it and I know exactly what went into it.
When I, the cook, don't get to savor the first batch, I know I scored a hit with my guests. Now, I cheat and sample before everybody else. Snort.
RE: When Was The Last Time?
Yesterday, haven't been out of the house today. I usually offer assistance, if I can. We call it "being neighborly".When was the last time you watched the sunrise?
