The issue is not only what we put on Facebook, it's our behaviour on it, what we look at, what we read, our click choices. That digital trail are called data points, and that is what Facebook has, and that is the real asset value of the company. Once companies like Cambridge Analytica have the data of every American (and UK) who has a Facebook account, they can psycho-profile everyone. In an election, the people who are sitting on the fence, the 'persuadables' are targeted with fake news, to brainwash them into making the 'right' choice.
"The data attackers could go all in, using their underhand knowledge to bombard these psycho-profiled targets, to push these persuadables’ buttons and tip them over the edge with Facebook ads that popped up intimately on their smartphones, miraculously confirming their prejudices, playing on their insecurities, magnifying and warping their worries: people who didn’t realise that their private data-identity had been sold to people who as a result could now personally solicit them without their knowing." - The Guardian.
Elections have been won by persuading a very slim margin to vote a certain way. The campaign in Trinidad and Tobago in 2013 is a good example. Trump, Brexit, South America, Africa...these are the hit-men politicians hire to get an advantage in an election.
The point is, Facebook is not the only platform recording your data. Every internet browser does the same thing. Your digital trail is who you are. Google, Chrome, Firefox, Big Brother is watching.
Please, if you do nothing else, lock on to this subject. Social media is the digital version of the movie 'Carrie....the baby turns into a monster. The great danger is manipulation. A working proposition is, 'Don't believe anything you read online.' Because it's probably fake news, written to manipulate you. Social media (Facebook) has given the nefarious bandits of the media world, the platform with which to manipulate you and control your mind (aka voting decisions).
For the nay-sayers - if the act of killing is so unethical and abhorrent to civilised society, how come we can send innocent men and women in the military to do our killing for us of strangers in other countries? Murder is murder wether the weapon is held by a soldier or a psychopath. There's a double standard here methinks.
Robplum, I wouldn't argue with you even if I wanted to because you're one of those 'It's-my-Way-Or-the-HIghway' type of guys. No sense in discussing it here. Next!
Re your video posted, one of the most common arguments against CP is the idea of 'How can you penalise the act of murder by committing one?' This is based on the concept that everyone has the right to life. My reply is, if a murderer denies their victim that right, they should lose it themselves.
It will always be a contested issue, and I reserve the right to change my mind about it in the future.
The question is as follows: Have we established our justice systems out of a desire for rehabilitation, or out of a desire for retribution?
For me personally, I support the use of capital punishment. The main reason for that is, it gives the victims closure. An eye for an eye. What could be fairer than that?
Historically, capital punishment has been used in almost every part of the world. Currently, the large majority of countries have either abolished or discontinued the practice.

When last you pooped? I think that would be classed under 'Too Much Information.'
