I went to one of the gatherings in Barcelona and quite a few people who used to be mumbers then. One of them was GingerB
I have 2 friends who lives locally who I met on here. And once upon a time many moons ago I had a relationship for a few months with someone I first connected with on CS...
Here we live in olive oil land so I buy it from friends who don't use chemicals straight after it comes out of the olive mill. No opportunity for cutting. But have heard that about factory produced olive oils unfortunately.
I hadn't thought in terms of valid or honest because it will depend what school of thought the psychiatrist belongs to whether his/her colleagues deem their theory valid or not.
I am assuming a theory is valid and honest, if it's being used by professionals who practice psychology or psychiatry. Although I'm aware that some colleagues may not be of the same school of thought and embrace the same theories.
Some people responded well to Freud's theories and others responded well to Jung. Yet they did not think each other's theories were valid, in spite of the fact they originally worked and researched together.
And I'm saying that a patient/person doesn't need to have a discussion about how the theories came to be discovered to resonate with them and for them to make sense and bring clarity. Although they might become interested and want to investigate later.
ohhhhhhh!! Thanks for sharing about the stress Docs, nurses and pharmacists like your daughter are under. I think I've been a bit too dismissive about it in an another post of mine.
What I found with people who gaslight is that the challenging of behaviour does not work because they deny the behaviour and sometimes it's only on "replay" that you think OMG! What just happened there??!! . Usually they use all of the "tactics" on the list and the conversation goes round in circles.
I do believe that for other kinds of behaviours, dealing with individual traits is appropriate and specially when those traits are named.
I also think that a professional would be able to grasp immediately "what is going on" and recognise "the behaviour" and deal with the individual traits. But for non professionals, things are not so clear as they're happening and so dealing with the traits as the interaction is happening could be more difficult.
Well lemon has high alkalinity and olive oil is extremely good for your health as long as they're pesticide free, but I have no knowledge of their detox properties ...
I know people who drink fresh lemon juice in the morning and I know people who have a spoon of olive oil in the mornings, but don't know anyone who mixes the 2 together ...
They used to do chicken pox or measles parties for kids "to get it over with" because it was less dangerous if they caught it young than when older. They went out of fashion with people being encouraged to have their kids vaccinated instead ...
