RE: How to Protect Your Immune System

Good evening Dan,

Not been on here much for obvious reasons but just popped in to say I've read the comments from various people.

For myself I eat what I want and have no specific dietary needs except I don't eat anything too acidic and not keen on eggs. I have never been a lover of fruit, but do eat fresh vegetables. My food intake has reduced since last year after a spell of sickness and my weight for my height and age is good. I have a varied diet of some meat ,fish and poultry. I prefer savoury to sweet but do have the occasional treat. Naughty me.lol

I am a carrier of haemochromatosis so don't need iron as I have a built in iron foundry according to my G.P. I've just had my yearly med check and for my age am very fit and well and with good skin tone so very few wrinkles. Lucky me. I take no supplements and very few pain killers [ arthritis is my one problem of late ]

I think it's all about balance to be honest and as they say "We are what we eat" so I must be doing ok as there are no signs of diabetes which is common as one gets older .

Interesting thread D Thanks. handshake

RE: Election Prediction

We can all play the victim card as you have often accused me . Looks like he's waving it like a banner as the World watches.

The tide is turning and it's not because they want Biden it's because they don't want Trump.

When his own party turns against him for his continued claims of fraud that says it all G.B. Not my concern but sad to watch a man demean himself on T.V .Just saying.

Senior Republicans have hit out at Donald Trump after he claimed - without evidence - that the election was being stolen from him, calling his allegations 'insane.'

Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey and a Trump ally, accused the President of 'inflaming without informing' urging him to 'show us the evidence.'

Larry Hogan, Republican governor of Maryland, said there is 'no defence' for Trump's comments, adding: 'No person is more important than democracy.'

RE: Drinking to ease the lockdown pain? Here’s how to cut down

Me neither Dan. Yet it has caused many to reach for the bottle, though frankly in some cases the problem was probably already there.handshake

RE: Election Prediction

Hi loulou

Do you know what I find so offensive in all of this debacle is a man who is so desperate to stay in office that he attempts to denigrate the people's vote by declaring them fraudulent .sigh

That's a sure sign of a control freak losing his grip especially in a Republican State such as Georgia.

My personal take on this is that this election is not about Republicans or Democrats it's about Donald Trump and if they lose he will have been the reason.

sigh

RE: Woman arrested for trying to take mother home from care home

with Mother's care

I understand where you are coming from T.C. but caring for dementia [ especially vascular dementia ] patients in the later stages and with a lady of 97 is a 24/7 job. The family placed her in a Nursing home presumably as they were unable to cope and allow her to receive the attention she needs.

This has nothing to do with authoritarianism it's about common sense. If they had wanted to care for her she wouldn't have been in a Nursing home. They obviously found it difficult to give her the care she needed.

However heart breaking life is we really do have to consider the individual and not our own feelings which was the case in question.

RE: Guys vs Girls

Morning from the U.K. Snow Queen

963 for me.hug

RE: Woman arrested for trying to take mother home from care home

The lady in question was "detained" by the police then released when her Mother was placed back in care.

What would you suggest they do under the circumstances.? This vulnerable lady was placed in the home by her daughter so that she could be cared for as a sufferer of dementia, presumably as she was unable to care for her at home.

Sadly there are many families undergoing this heart break due to extenuating circumstances. If this had been permissible there could have been a tidal flow of people wanting the same.

Caring for dementia patients is extremely difficult and this lady may have suffered more trauma being taken from somewhere that she has been for some time and placed elsewhere.

Sometimes we have to look at the bigger picture T.C.handshake
