Are the ads on here as phony as some of the profiles?

Saw a blocker ad (those you can’t see this site until you delete the ad) for warehouse jobs paying $51 an hour, sounded pretty good (maybe Amazon warehouse???) was going to put it on the FB page for Workampers than when I came back on here, there was the same salary for people assembling circuit boards and the link didn’t go to a company just to links.

I have been reading a lot about people who make income through passive income streaming and often thought of creating a website (often told the founders of this one to do this) for dating like this one (paid so the member can be verified by a cc, debit or PayPal account) but only $1 a month with a minimum of ads (maybe only one banner ad.)

Unfortunately this site has been inundated with ads, so afraid they are gearing up sell to a large company so want to show how much revenue they are making but people on this site aren’t going to be joining anything except for a free account on POF.

This is a thread that might become a poll..about charging everyone for membership but read!!!

First I have great respect for the founders of this site IF they were the family in Ohio that had to hold a GoFundMe drive to raise money to help buy a house they needed so the husband could see his children by another wife, this site had little advertising (just with other dating sites which may have only bartered advertising) was most likely a labor of love (I found this info on their FFacebook pag, hope it was really the founders and not someone who usurped the page.) Just recently however (maybe this year as I hadn’t been on it a long time) has been inundated with ads (in fact before you get on there is a HUGE ad you need to remove to get into the site) and then constant ads popping up and if you want to send more emails you must pay at least $9 a month. No longer is the slogan, put your wallet away! (My fear is that they are monetizing this site heavily to prepare to sell it to Match.com, which will them with their monopoly will be able to raise prices even higher.

I admit that this site is a lot better than anything that Match.com owns (they ruined it when they bought Marcus Frind’s Plenty of Fish) where they always say FREE to join, not telling users, a free membership ONLY makes it look like it has a lot of members but otherwise useless as one can’t to anything with it, paid members who should be able to do much with it, can’t even contact the free members and the membership fees are pretty high, Marcus proved with POF, it doesn’t take much time OR MONEY to run it.

The only problem with this site, is because it is free, in my experience most of the members are not real, have fake profiles, I have begged them to please charge a very low fee $1 a month that must be paid by a PayPal, credit or debit card linked to a bank account not a prepaid card to filled up by cash, as as sort of filter that this person is legitimate and are connected with an IP number which also ocan prove a person is legitimate and not working from a bank of computers. I think some scammers if their account is shut down just set up another account. Account could be auto pay until cancelled and they can cancel as late as the day before it renews. Charge new members $2 to set it up including the first month’s fee (people with profiles on here would be grandfathered in and not have to pay the set up fee) and you could freeze it for $1 if dating or not able to check it and if you decide to get out, get it completely cancelled but if you want to join again, you’d have to pay a new set up fee. I think the new slogan would be “Better than free” as you wouldn’t have many if any fake accounts and that would be worth the low fees. They could still have their ads, but not the premium service or have it but let regular members send more than 3 emails a day which seems to be the limit and unlimited for premium.

I read somewhere that CS has 50K, even if only half stayed the owners would still make 25K a month which is not bad. I will put up a poll and see what people think but want your comments now. I know everyone on here is ahem..fiscally prudent ,,and won’t be so keen on paying ANYTHING but if you are serious about looking for a partner and it effectively would eliminate the false profiles wouldn’t it be worth it???

RE: scammers ?

I think I posted a comment on here from a comment someone posted saying that scammers wanted to exchange numbers and why I always did but that thread and my comment disappeared. Then I started another thread that asked whether threads are removed and suggested that this site have a search engine for the forums and THAT disappeared, is there something like that here (hopefully THIS comment doesn’t disappear.)

Does anyone know if CS removes threads? And want to know what others think of my suggestion..

There was a thread I think a few days ago, about giving out phone numbers and I (think) I commented on that, but I can’t seem to find it now. As a result, I also think it would be a good idea if there was a search engine on the forum, if you want to find a thread. If other people agree I will contact CS and tell them (I’ll do that anyway but they are more likely do so, if other members want that.)

RE: Another plane goes down in Asia

Indonesia has a horrific record with plane crashes. I used to work for an airline at LAX, at a Xmas party I won a free trip to S.F. but the co-worker who won a free pass to anywhere Garuda flied wanted to trade it with me as she didn't want to go to Asia, shortly after that Garuda because of their safety record was banned for a few years from flying in the U.S., never got to use it (I also lost the pass in a store, but a happy person who found it, couldn't use it anyway, they had to show airline ID with the airline I worked for to book it.)

Another suggestion I am going to make to the powers that be on this site helping prevent ...

There are NO moderators on this particular thread (do YOU know the rules?) so what in the heck are you talking about and it's NOT a complaint, but a USEFUL suggestion.

people from far away contacting me. It drives me mad that in settings for people searching for someone like me (not like the advanced settings for me searching for someone) I can't set the distance. As I said, supposedly I can search by mileage from my zip code FOR a person but even though it looks like they still show me men from further away, but can't control from what areas the men who are searching and contacting me, only thing I can restrict is the continent or area (not even by country like U.S. only), therefore I get a lot of emails from men who I most likely will never meet and it's discouraging.

I think the men are either very cheap (they don't want to spend the money courting the woman) or extravagant (willing to fly in or fly me out) or of course the fakers that you will never meet (what they usually are) (note to self) start another thread how to detect a faker. I am going to ask CS if they can put a setting so one can put a restriction as to how many miles from one's zip code that one would want men from to contact one.

This site is better than Plenty of Fish and OKCupid, they don't give you less options because you don't have a paid account like the others and has more features, but it has the MOST fake profiles, sometimes I think that they should charge a onetime lifetime fee of $5 just to create a profile. Most scammers I think won't be able to secure a credit or debit under a fake name but I know better than to suggest anything that will cost money in a forum!!! Yeah, I just know just delete but it's so psychologically depressing to get excited about getting mail and then see it's probably no one I can see plus you have to spend extra time deleting it!

Again, I know KNOW (so don't tell me in a scolding way) that I can contact CS directly but if anyone seconds that idea, I can tell them that many others feel that way also and they are more likely to implement that.

Should I just contact CS with a suggestion or would it get more clout if I started a thread and ..

Don't know who you are referring to but I did know how to do that, just wondered if suggestion carried more weight if I amended that.

I don't know what YOU are talking about, I am talking about the search settings for the kind of person one is looking for there is NO save setting on that which is why I am submitting the suggestion.

others showed support for it and then afterwards contact them? This is what it is..

In the Advanced Search there are filters but there doesn't seem to be a way to save it so I have to reset it each time I go on there, can't they have a save button?

No, again, on his profile page, age range says 42-99 but if I hit email it says 18-48 and again on some men's profile page it says they are from one city and then when you email or you get an email from them it says another city, just don't understand why it does, ah well, I guess it needs to fix the bugs, but I won't tell them about them, I informed them about some men who I found out have fake profiles and they are still on there.

I also see on some men's profiles a link that they can contact people in their hometown, yet my profile doesn't have that, people reading this, do any others have that or not also?

I just found his profile page and the one blocking me, the only other criterion is that the person be female which I am and he said preferably be blond and blue eye, so it leaves not being blonde etc. open. I'll move on but why I posted all above is how come with some filters work even though it's not blocking someone who fits any of the criteria except the "hidden" race one which one can't see and for others none of the filters work.

So here's another thing, I tried an experiment and there was someone who had an interesting profile but wanted women of a certain age which didn't include mine when I pressed email, the email page showed up not the prevention to contact page show up so I wondered that it didn't block like before, but I didn't write, however on another profile when I hit email again I got the prevention page, that said I didn't fit the criteria, it showed on his page that it was because I wasn't in his age bracket the was looking for but in the summery page of his profile it said 45-99 though on the prevention page (the one that blocks it said 18-48, he was 74!) wondering if he got ANY emails as I don't know if many women in that age bracket want a guy that age, (I shouldn't say that I realize as a friend of mine who is an older gentleman says he gets a lot but then the women mostly start just asking for money!) even I don't normally want a man that old, but thought his profile interesting and that you couldn't be from certain countries which I am not, am from the U.S., thought it might be race, I think he had a preference for blonde hair and blue eyes, but he didn't say white only I believe-can't find it now as I am on the forum page (does the computer figure it out that because I am an Asian I can't be that) I was going to put a joke in there and say I love your car, if I wore a blonde wig and blue contacts would you meet me?

In my profile I put an age range and the person must live only 100 miles (not 50) but still most of my emails are from people from out of state (the only ones should qualify would maybe Nevada or Arizona) sometimes out of country (again, only Mexico would qualify) and again out of my age bracket, sometimes WAAY out of the range, so why don't MY filters block others? Also I wanted to ask why oftentimes the mini summary says a person is from a certain city, but when you get the email from the person or go to the page of the email, it says an entirely different city although sometimes the city may be near by, is there just a lot of quirks in this sites system? I wish someone from the staff answered but mollybaby since they don't I appreciate your answers speculating what it might be LOL!!!

It was within 100 miles that I put my filter, they should have something shorter like 25 miles but also, I guess I should put this in suggestions and if people support this one, they can second me, it's really annoying that on the Match page if you leave it for awhile even if you were not on the first page it automatically goes back to the first page when you go back to it.

They seemed online, but the response was so quick it seemed to have been done by the computer.

I wish this had an edit feature so I didn't have to keep adding things laugh then after I got the feedback from this site that the person no longer had the account, THEN the account disappeared.

I am only asking this because in my filters I say I only want someone within (I think) 50 miles of my city to contact me and I seem to get only people OVER 50 miles contacting me, is it because as I said I didn't go through the meet me and put no? But in the Meet Me it seems that only see the profiles of local and not long distance people, so can't block people from far away by saying no.

Maybe the people I see on Meet Me are only people who already liked me so that's why I see them there vs. Match which has anyone on there (there are a lot of very young men that I am not interested in) so don't know if there is a filter for Meet Me, anyone officially working for this site be able to answer all my questions?

I had liked this site, because even if you couldn't write an email to someone who wanted a certain age range, you could at least said a "like", I too, have age parameters but if someone out of it, sent a like, I'd at least take a look at it and maybe even meet the person if they sound interesting enough.

I just thought maybe in the Meet Me he may have put, NO, but then again, if he did, why would show up under my Matches?

I can't find the forum for help questions although there are FAQ links so I thought I

would just post it and the software would put this in the right forum.

Does this site, block ANY communication if you are out of the age, height, ethnicity of what a person wants. In the past if someone preferred a certain of one of the above (well just age) I would never email them but would just send a like, if they wanted to respond but today it just said the person was not available for various reasons which didn't seem to happen before, is this something new-it was what I liked about the site, it didn't block you from a person or maybe it's OKCupid. I was wondering if the person didn't want a person above a certain age, why that person was even showing up in my matches to begin with. Is this blocking recent or always there?
