RE: Animals in Halloween costume

Even tho some are adorable, I am against it. The pet is not a kid nor a doll to dress up for your enjoyment. Many animals are traumatized, scared or injured because some owner thinks it is fun. Not for the animal tethered into ill fitting and annoying clothing or costumes.

RE: Matter of fact

Can you imagine any of the whining people today working that hard picking cotton in the hot sun. They are quitting their jobs because of inconvenient hours.frustrated
Mom told me the lady who rented our farmhouse when I was a kid, told her that she had 4 breasts. I saw photos of circus freaks and one was a gal who displayed 4. And not vestige. Beautiful, perfect large..all 4. Imagine clothes. Uh?? Two bras?
How about the man who married the woman who was twins below the waist. She born children from both bottoms. Two for the price of one?confused
My dad was hit on to be a movie actor in silent films. He was a hot stud for sure from photos. He asked how much it paid? tongue He made that in a day as a metal spinner and told them to go jump. Thanks dad. Our life would have never happened if he had said yes.help

The dodo dollar store.

The news keeps harping..prices going up. Maybe that is because the dollar is becoming worthless thanks to congress raising the debt limit for the last decades?frustrated I saw gas is almost $5 in New York.
I still see sales here. News said shortage of toasters. OH NO! That means I cant buy a new toaster? I must run out immediately and get one!roll eyes Or, since I had no intent..just keep using my old one?laugh
Toys will be in limited. Of course..Xmas when everyone with kids buys...TOYS! Hmm...might that be a coincidence?
But, good old greedy corporate is figuring out how to get supplies to their stores. Course no way they want to lose sales. And Biden jumps right in too...have to grow the economy. Cant run out of disposable, non necessities.
I buy from an auction seller on ebay, Poppri. They are based in Lithuania. So won a couple items a week or more ago. Figure..back logged ships? Maybe see them in...January?dunno Nope..came yesterday in the mail and today the other two won after those. Watch videos of Dollar Trees. Filled with Xmas stuff. So what is on those ships anyway? New cars? TVs? Dining sets?
Maybe it is all an excuse to increase prices before the holidays. Even if local stores and warehouses are stocked with things we NEED?scold
How can Dollar Tree raise a quarter or fifty cents. Dont they know how to run a gouge margin?confused

RE: If You Were An Animal, What Would You Be And Why?

Sabertooth tiger. First I like fangs. Second...no one would mess with me. Do I LOOK cuddly?mumbling

The dodo dollar store.

They built a new dollar Tree near my guy. He called and said he was there. I told him a couple things I still was after so he went back in. I directed him. He said the aisles are nice and wide but, not well stocked. He finally found some Halloween, more Xmas and the crafts and said pathetic. No go on what I wanted. I said well, guess we can write that one off. He said no where as filled as the one by me and the one in the Dells.
I grab the frozen donuts they sell. A buck for 6 full size glazed. I was leery the first time but they are actually good!wow Thaw and they are the doughy kind, not cake.
I prefer to buy stuff I like there and it satisfied the hunter gatherer without finding an item in a department store and paying through the nose.
Watched a bit of Shark Tank. Gal sells hair care and hooded shirts. They asked what she pays, $16. Sells? $80!wow doh roll eyes They said nice margin. That is not a margin. That is a whole continent! Talk about gouging. That show peeves me. See what they pay for product and then sell for. So..think I will buy it. Go jump!very mad

Lets get personal. Around the world.

I just saw a interview on the TV. Gal had tried to buy a house. She had approval for financing. Found one that was her dream home and made the offer AT the asking price. Lost it. Found out some rich company had put in the price IN CASH and got it. She ended up looking at 30 houses until she finally got a house outside the prime city area.
It seems that these companies are pouncing on any home that hits the market in prime real estate areas like our major cities. Immediately buy them up with cash. Even going above the asking price.
Due to singles, baby boomers, lack of finances and mobility..the rental market is a owners market. These companies buy up all the houses and then turn around and rent them. Effectively controlling the rental market and home ownership.
I have a guy near me who now is up to 3000 acres. Much is in wild life prairie type. So he can get the government payments. He would love my farm. And I told him where to shove it.
Long ago, his dad bought up a 300 acre, original homestead I would have loved. The old man was going into a home and wanted $300,000 cash. No way!crying
And then the buyer sold the barn to the Amish, tore down the house AND detached summer kitchen and totally erased the historic farm stead and the history of an entire clan.very mad

The dodo dollar store.

I saw some pages from the Sears Christmas book, 1945. I am aware of wages in times past. So when I see prices like fifty cents, I consider first the wage scale of the era before going wow thats cheap.
The perfumes shown were near the $4 price range. I saw a covered kettle that was over $4. Many items ran 1.50 to 2.
I dont think wages were that great in 45.The country was exiting, barely, a great war. In the years after, America hit boom times. But, it seems to me that to afford a $4 kettle in 1945 would have taken months of saving up the butter and egg money for some housewives.
When one sees a $4 perfume back then, I feel it put them in the range women pay today for designer scents.
Mom was offered to buy into a cosmetics factory when a young woman. She was given a tour of the place. She saw a huge vat of red and asked what it was. Lipstick. They explained that the same formula was poured into tubes and then sent to labeling. And that the label might be for a high end, expensive tube...or the low end drug store brand. Mom said so the only difference is the label?confused Yep. So the gal shopping at the Dime store got the same product as the gal shopping at Macy's.very mad Mom said she regretted not investing as the cosmetic field turned into a huge cash cow.
I started out working for $1.35 an hour. I could go to the grocery store and come home with two sacks. Jeans cost a few bucks. I had a $5 mad money amount that bought a 1.25 paperback, some magazine that cost 50 cents, some makeup and whatever. Try THAT today!
People never get it. Every time wages go up, companies jack prices up. No way a company will cut their profits. The consumer ALWAYS pays in the end.
I went through the gas wars..28 cents a gallon for gas. Unreal now.wow But, we drove in to the gas station and said fifty cents please. Or if rolling in wealth..a buck.rolling on the floor laughing And the attendant glared because the rule was...put in gas, open hood, check oil and belts and wash all windows and headlamps. Everyone got the same, rich or poor...fill it up or a buck. One time we stopped with a station wagon. This was years later. Owner set the gas nozzle and proceeded to do the windows. My husband was in a hurry and asked me, wouldnt it be faster if he just gave me a car wash!?doh

The dodo dollar store.

I grew up going to what was called the Five and Dime. Woolworth and Schultz Dime Store. Now perhaps long before my time, things were actually a dime or a nickel. I remember the nickle coke which was a little shapely glass. But, things were cheap even if not a dime.
There are stores like the .99 cent, where as far as I gather, nothing IS .99 cents.laugh There is 5 Below where most merchandise is five bucks.
There is Dollar General which I guess hide items that are a buck and has some sales where they almost give stuff away.
What is in my town now is the Dollar Tree. When they started, there was no itemized receipt, it just rang up 1,1,1,1. Then to do inventory, they started to scan stuff so the receipt shows what you paid a dollar for, laugh
I can blow $50 to $100 in that store the few times a year I shop. Some stuff is a rip...that bag of dollar candy? Check the weight. So it takes 4 bags to equal the box store. So to get the same, costs $4. They also like to water things down. Like perfume. Gee, the bottle smells great. Wear it and the scent lasts exactly 27 seconds.frustrated
They stock stores by sales. So the coasts get tons of cool stuff that the midwest never gets. Or long after. Some is made for them, some is store dumps and insurance liquidation. So never know what you may find. Like Dunkin Donuts cereal. Gee, wonder why that didnt sell.
Now prices are going up, shipping is stuck at sea. And I hear the Dollar Store will become the dollar and a quarter store. Or the dollar fifty store. Still comparing to Hobby Lobby or other craft stores, still cheap.
As long as they do an even amount. No .99s or .67s or weird stuff. I can still total those extra quarters. I will still shop. But maybe put some stuff back. Borderline for a buck, out for any more.scold

RE: Hot Rods and Motorcycles

One hunk and one blob.sigh..nice to ruin it. Poor bike!wow frustrated I posted my 63 Impala on craigs. Told it as it is. guy from Arizona HAS to have it. I tell him not worth the trip. find better out west. He said nope. They all were sold to rust belt. So now have to find cheap in rust belt. I told him trunk and dog legs are gone. We go round and round. Will NOT listen. Finally I got photos of everything and posted them. Haven't heard a word from him since.rolling on the floor laughing
Since when do people tell you a car is what is really is..how bad the rust is? Usually they lie that is is better than it is. So what good is it to tell the truth.sigh doh

Lets get personal. Around the world.

every time I see trees for sale, I think bring a shovel..how many do you want. One good thing about weeds is how many are edible. I grew up grazing along with the critters.
When I was a kid, almost every home was a farmer. Now down my road, there are only 3 or 4. The fields are worked but by the few farmers. The farms look the same sometimes..but the house belongs to a city person and the fields have been sold off.
We are the land of the mega corporate farm. At least more people are trying to garden now.

Lets get personal. Around the world.

laugh The best way with weeds is goats. But..I hate goats. Every time I have had them, either chase all over when they get out. Or yell "Get Off the CAR!"very mad I had two ewes, but sheep are picky. Seems my hedge is the favorite food. sigh
I get annoyed at the talk about how we should plant trees. Maybe in the cities. Although I see more and more cities planted green spaces and trees. Except maybe New York city..the concrete jungle. I spend half the summer yanking out baby trees. If one wants woods or lawn, name it a driveway. TV shows woods with little under brush. Wish I knew the way. Mine is thick with brush.
When my parents moved here, dad had the idea to clear the woods like a park. He and mom went out lots to prune, plant pines and make brush piles. Mom finally said this is nuts. Dad said but the Black Forest in Germany was like that. Mom asked who took care of it. And he said, well.. on the weekends, everyone from the city went out to the forest and they all took care of it. Mom said...thanks..so a few hundred people took care of it and you expect the TWO of us to do 100 acres..I QUIT!
Back in the 40s and prior, farmers left the cattle and cows graze in the woods and river bottoms. It was nice and clear with mostly big trees. Then the conservation department idiots said keep the cows out because they are ruining the river banks and woods. So the farmers did it. Now the woods are full of poison ivy, prickly ash, weeds, brush, fallen trees, vines and whatever. Small trees have no room to grow.frustrated

Lets get personal. Around the world.

The one thing I notice about your part of the world is there is still care taken about self. Women wear sarees often, hand made is common place and admired. Despite the hoards of humans, lots has been preserved and history observed.
What I notice about my state, Wisconsin is the green. Where some states are miles of crops, some are dry and deserts or prairie of level grass..Wisconsin in summer is super green. Plants abound if given the chance. Including trees sprouting in gutters, weeds taking over a garden and dense woods. My complaint is why do so many have to bite me!very mad doh Dewberries that creep on the ground and tangle your ankle. Prickly ash that stabs with thorns. Rampant black raspberries that make an impassible thicket. then dump some skeeters, ticks, chiggers and minute pirate bugs in the mix.blues

RE: Gabby Petito / Brian Laundrie. What happened ?

Seems likely he killed her, either by intent or accidental rage. He is woods wise and has gone to ground. The fact the cops didnt detain him right away is on them. He could be anywhere, I think the search in the swamp was stupid and a big waste of time and money. Did they really think if he was there, he wouldnt hear the boats, dogs, people and drones and hide til they left?frustrated
That dad and son disappeared into the mountains for 6 months or so. The mistake they made was coming out to a store for food. Otherwise they wouldnt have been found.
With masks common, this guy can blend in and make his way to Canada or Mexico. Just another homeless person.doh

RE: Injection

No jab. Neighbor with heart issues and more had the J&J. Right away got vertigo and sick. Now she has neuropathy in legs so bad her feet go numb. Dr. said permanent. And her Dr that said she should get the shot said "oh, thats different". Smooth move Dr!
People I talked to said dizzy, head aches, fatigue, aches. Why some had one dose and never went back for second. One guy I talked to said first was OK and second was bad. Those with bad first, wont do another.

Lets get personal. Around the world.

Surprised abut the Netherlands. It used to be an old world, nice country. Blame globalization and over population. Seems that modernizing means crime, hatred, homeless, trash and traffic jams for every country. I see no reason to travel to exotic places because they dont exist. The world is ubiquitous with T-shirts, flip flops, jeans, fast food and cars. Culture is forgotten and what made a people unique has been buried by greed and lazyness.
Manners are extinct, disapline and work and respect have flown the coop on wings of I matter more than anyone else.roll eyes

Mask 101

Go tell that to first responders and health care workers. N95s do. So does double masking, silk, and liners of electrostatic layers.

Merch

I guess todays young are so tired out from gaming, they cant say the whole word..merchandise. Everywhere you look now, you tubers, gamers, stores, Mc D's, are selling merch. People have money to spend. And the government wants you to buy.
I would like to, but!frustrated The supply chain is broken. Laborers are in short supply. Manual labor is a four letter word now. WORK! Are you crazy?wow I want to do computer programing, game apps..sit on my butt and work when I feel like it and dont even talk to me unless I get $25 an hour, a month vacation, 4 day weeks, free health, 401K and a free lunch too. (Hello migrants!)
Corporate America doesnt help either. The next holiday is Halloween. Stores in my state have little to offer. Dollar Tree sends merch per sales. So a Cali store with high sales gets truck loads of stuff. The low sales stores in the mid-west dont see a tenth of what Dollar Tree offers.
Maybe I failed marketing 101, but seems to me the more you carry, the more you sell.dunno So if people hit your store the day stocking is done and wipe out the shelves...wouldn't that indicate to order more. Or re-order? Of course, these days, companies put orders in months in advance. And then ships pile up with no workers to unload.
But, high end stores sit with unsold stuff. Reason why..prices are out of sight. So they run sales. Then people learn to wait for sales. Finally the stuff ends up in a dumpster and written off their taxes.
Walmart here is also wiped out of Halloween stuff. But, they are putting up Christmas. wow It isn't even October yet!!!
When I grew up, we shopped catalog..Sears, Wards, Aldens, Pennys. The standing joke was they sent the catalogs out so far ahead, we should have been shopping for 2030!
Maybe the specialty stores have the answer. Christmas all the time, only stuff they sell year round. Nothing but stools. The yarn shop.
Somewhere sanity has to return. The third world nations, landfills and oceans cant handle any more disposable merch. I still have moms ornaments that she got from her mother. I can buy a couple new ones. But, not tossing the old ones.
I like the idea of right to repair. And stop stocking to old sales, stock to potential sales. Surprise..the midwest has money to spend. Stop cheating us.blues

RE: Hobbies, What's yours?

Way too many. Mom started me on rock hunting as a child. She later said couldnt you pick a lighter weight one, like collecting feathers? It killed her moving boxes when she cleaned my room.rolling on the floor laughing
Dad taught me to paint..started in water colors, now acrylics..oil takes too long to dry. Bedroom mural, front door, kitchen cabinets.
I learned to do wood and metal from dad...cars from my ex. Had a bodyshop. Got into dressmaking.
Now work metal, wood, fabric, concrete and more. I found out dyi utube is dangerous. So many ideas. Like I need more. Now got into making paper roses that look real. Still do lapidary and jewelry.

Lets get personal. Around the world.

OK..minds out of the gutter please. I see lots of countries represented here and wonder what their country is really like. What foods, stores, jobs, life styles.
So I will start. I was raised on my parents farm. As a kid, started a one room school, then to 4 room and then to town. Town was 4 blocks filled with stores. Now most are empty. Town has moved north. We have a grocery, a Walmart, Dollar Tree, Aldis, 2 farm stores and lots of fast foods. There are a few restaurants that change owners. We are a tourist area. Not much except for scenery to look at. One Indian Agency house, the old forts Surgeons Quarters and school. Town has the old canal that is no much anymore.
Plenty of factories...plastic, glass, medical, concrete. One lumber yard.
Farms are broken up into houses with a few acres of land or less. They look the same, but from 9 farms between us and town, now maybe 50 houses scattered. The main farms are 1000 acre or more with one family to each. Mostly crops of corn or soy beans or hay. Livestock is hogs or beef cattle. Milk cows are few anymore. Glutted market and if a farm doesnt have a couple hundred head, cant make it.
Kids grow up and go to college, get jobs or move away. The town holds population somehow. Lots of people commute the 50 miles or more to the capital city to work.
We have native Americans around. They have a casino in the next town. Trying to teach the young some of the language and old ways. But, they made concessions to live style to keep the kids interested. Pow wows feature dancers in ribbon work, sequins and bright colors and not buckskins.

Mask 101

If you aren't going to wear a mask that protects, why bother. Where is the world coming back to normal. Just because people are pretending doesnt counter the new cases and deaths and hospitalizations and rules. It is not normal. People just dont care anymore. They would rather gather and party like 2000 and take the risk than be bored. So go play with that loaded revolver. Good luck. Or..good riddance.roll eyes

RE: Vaccine injured lady speaks out.

How do the rich get richer. Stocks. Being CEOs. What are some of the most profitable companies listed..Big Pharma. Who has the biggest lobbiests in DC..Big Pharma. They got the government to allow drug ads on TV and in ads. Now Doctors are getting fed up with idiots demanding a drug they dont need for a disease they dont have. I avoid the ads. But, when I do hear one...listen to the lists of side effects. I like when it says dont take if allergic to it. How the H are people supposed to know that?frustrated
The national news in the evening is drug ads interrupted by news.
The joke is your vacc is free. Yeah..not out of your pocket. But, it is NOT FREE. Government through your tax dollars is paying it. They are billing insurance companies and medicare when they can. It costs medicare $40 per shot.
Look at the new industry sparked by covid. Needled, bottles, medical items to go with them...shipping, staffing. Wow this is one heck of a money maker across the board. No wonder the government wants it to keep going.
That record above on Pfizer is just a bit of all the law suits against drug companies.
What is a vaccine? It gives immunity. Dr. Jen on GMA has a daughter who was double vaccd, in college and got covid. Oh but she only had to quarantine 14 days in her room and had a headache for a day. AND didnt die. Of course if she hadnt vacc, odds are the same outcome would have happened.
I heard on the BBC, some country put in health care vacc orders and ended up firing 400 Doctors and nurses who said up yours. Now why dont the medical people want the vaccines. Hmmmm?dunno

Mask 101

Masks work. But not when gaps at nose, gaps at side, worn under the nose, under the chin nor made of fabric you can see through or woven with lots of holes. Blue surgical are next to worthless. So are gater, bandanas and those white ones from the Dollar store.
Everyone and their cousin is making or selling masks. Of course the bandanas are great for cowboy re-enactors. Rob that stage coach!laugh
What I have learned is multiple layers are needed. Cloth outer worn over a blue one is better. Silk has electrostatic properties that the virus gets stuck on and not through. The tighter the weave the better. Hold it up to the light. A liner made from a baby wipe is super good. You might want to wash it and dry it first unless having some oils, water and scent up your nose is your bag.
Now we get to the N95. These are the best..95% blockage. BUT!>>>>China is mass producing them, India, the US, Mexico and the cousin who owns a factory.
My boarder works in fast food. He picked up N95s at Menards lumber store. Paid about a buck each. I looked them over. Then got a catalog of stuff that had N95s for fifty cents each. banana But, pessimist I am...research time. Onto internet..reviews. OH!confused It seems these are counterfeit. I checked some on eBay. People said thin, not multi, straps wrong, broke, could blow right through.
Bottom line. The one I have says Honeywell DF300N95. Plus NIOSH N 95. and a part number. The ones that are counterfeit do not. All I see is the N95 on plain white masks. That NIOSH N95 is the critical thing. That is the designation/code from the government stating these are true N95 masks. If it doesnt have that, might as well trust the rest of the masks types.
I made a snout mask with cloth and a silk lining that I will be wearing over the N95 when I absolutely HAVE to leave my farm. For those who wish to stay safe....thumbs up

RE: Turn them Back

I lack sympathy..daughter of an immigrant who paid his OWN way. What is wrong with this picture when some down trodden refuge can pay $8-10-15-20 thousand to a trafficker to invade some well off country. That is the years income to them or more. Why dont they use it to improve their lives there?
Every country has homeless, poverty, food in-security and we as taxpayers are supposed to open our homes to every non-native? Where do they all expect to live, work, school? So do we kick the South American refuges out into the street so the Afghans can move in?
There are cities where people can't afford rents. Where an apartment houses 20 related people who are born in their lands.
What would the history of some nations be today if everyone bailed and ran away?
Do we start viewing every person who is dis-satisfied with their lot in life as a refuge? It is easy to say farmers, small businesses. Take a look people..these refuges dont want to settle in the boonies. Our western states are miles with no people. Our small towns have main streets filled with empty store fronts. Our farmers work 19 hour days alone due to no help. But, the refuges all want to be computer programers and live in the high profile cities like New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Hollywood, Vegas, London, Paris, Berlin, Venice.
We have to do something to discourage migration. This is not the 14th century.frustrated

RE: Why so many views on some threads, over 100s

Some I look at to see what title means. Then either have nothing to add, or too many already have posted basically the same or topic is not interesting to pursue. Viewed and moved on.

RE: Are you tired of Covid ?

I am tired of the bull on media that changes their tune daily. I am tired of people who act like all is fine and nothing is more important that partying and entertainment. People who insist on invading my space. I like the 6 feet..always have. I need a shirt with a blood dripping wolf that says..Do I LOOK cuddly?I am tired of people who hang a mask around their chin and say hey..all is good. And the idiots who think because they got jabbed twice, they are immune and are carriers.very mad

RE: If a uneducated man or woman here in CS .

Human nature. Every race thinks they are best. Every strata of civilization thinks theirs is superior. Every economic level envies those with more and looks down on those with less. Every religion, every government, every ideology thinks theirs is best. Every human thinks those identical are best and dislikes the rest. Nothing new. Yep, your country would treat us as royalty. Especially those after our money or gain.roll eyes

RE: How many double jabbed people are dying of Coronovirus

News is so slanted and controlled, cant know what is truth and what is not. What does appear to be tho is that herd immunity is a farce. So is getting the whole world vaccd. There are more and more cases getting out that people that have been vaccd ARE getting sick. AND dying of covid in hospital. Vaccd people will be the incubators for the virus to mutate. Only a matter of time before it figures out how to jump the vacc. MU is the new variant. And looks to be able to bypass the vacc already.
I saw a woman on TV..her husband had heart issues for years. Suffered a massive heart attack and died. And she said the death certificate said he died of covid!doh
We cant believe the stats, cant believe Big Pharma, cant believe the CDC, FDA , Biden or anyone with a profit margin.
My friends, neighbors and I will be sticking to our guns. Masks, avoidance and no shots.
Now they want to do a combo flu and covid. But, since there was little flu last winter, the brains have no idea which variant will be prevalent. So, as usual, they threw the darts into the board and picked 4 to use. Every year is a guess for them..this year...a total joke.
I listened to the Surgeon General on Meet the Press. I caught a word I am still questioning. Slip of tongue, not meant as sounds or... They were talking about risk factor to unvaccd. The S.G. said they are more at risk because they are not infected.confused dunno mumbling
So..you meant as in having covid? Or as in being given it via the shots?roll eyes devil

What good is sax ed?

Saw a video posted by a guy who shows stupid people doing stupid stuff. He said he HOPED she was joking. If not..wow uh oh This gal posted her video and it went like this....She was maybe 18? Said she had just heard that men have to go to their doctor every month to get their foreskin trimmed.wow WT? She went on to say that the schools need to teach this in ed.
Where on earth did she hear this? And she had the school classes. So what good are they when idiots like her pick up junk on the "street" and believe it. Maybe she didnt learn it cause it ISN'T TRUE!?laugh confused What does she think, skin grows like hair? She should ask her dad. Then HE can slap her alongside her pumpkin head and lock her somewhere where she will be safe. I-yi-yi!!frustrated

RE: Husband

I trusted my husband implicitly. If I had any questions, I asked and believed the answers. And they trusted me. My guy now and I trust each other. Perhaps you need to find a trustworthy woman and BE a trust worthy man?frustrated

RE: Do you understand the world and the people in it.........overall...........?

Simple. Strip the veneer of civilization from humans and see the true prehistoric animal. Driven by the same prehistoric needs. Find food, find shelter, find a mate. Defend the food, shelter and mate. And any young because they are supposed to care for you in your dotage. Kill off any competition. Help only those who are of use to you to defend the above. Fear lack of any of the above so gather more than you need, kill more than you need to, hoard more than needed. Seek and fight your way to the top of the pack so you control the above. Society is all an illusion.scold
