Farmers are in the business of killing. It is not a happy thing to do, but, necessary. People need to eat and we have canines as all meat eaters do. What is the difference is raising an animal, caring for it, providing for it and then having murder it. So we try to do it as fast and sure and kind as we can. I have more of issues with old age and seeing my life ending.
Then there are the ones we raise, keep, love and watching them die of old age or disease that we can't do anything about. I know there are hard hearted people who don't think, nor care. But, most farmers are sad to have to see animals die.
I hate the commercial farms. Poor animals crammed into cages and pens where they can do nothing but eat and sleep. Then trucked and killed like they don't count.
My chickens are locked in coop at night for safety. During the day they roam around the farm and woods. I took a photo when I did lockup last eve. My mule had come out since cooler to eat hay. I have one loner white hen who is half grown. She was by his front legs and snapping at the flies when they landed on his legs. Even jumping in the air when over his knees. Everyone else had gone to bed. Smart little hen. Just like the African veld with birds on animals.
I don't butcher chickens anymore. Too hard to do. Buy in store even tho mine are better.
Don't hunt anymore. Except to shoot coons and possums that decide cat food is for them and then destroy my property or go after my chickens.
Deer Can do lots of damage and get hit by cars and if too many, die of diseases or starve in winter. Hunting is a necessary evil. Object is kill fast and sure. Not sure of shot, don't take it.
Funny that people loathe killing animals, yet slaughter each other and glory in it.

Danced it in grade school. Showed mom how. Dad thought we both lost it. Hula hoops were invented when I was a kid. May I have one? So they bought me one. (still have it). I did OK. Taught mom. That was She said she didn't swivel that way.Dad was SURE now we had lost it.

I wish states here would shut borders! Ticked at Chicago. They put Wisconsin on a list that if you are not just passing through, must quarantine for two weeks. YEAH?! Well which state has the highest numbers??
And which state is sending tons of tourists to here? The Dells area is the mass destination for Chicago and Milwaukee...areas with most new cases. So it is all right that they flood up here and congregate at the resorts and spread covid. But, we put THEM at risk?
If the whole world could shut down for two weeks, we would all be in the clear.

Some want a relationship and grab at any slim hope. If someone sends them email or goes to some app thing to talk, they must want them!
My guy and I wrote for months before ever meeting. Got to know each other to see if we really liked each other enough to move forward to next step.
I have always had a quirk, pounce on me and I am GONE!! Like a wild animal.
I am leery of the ones who say they live..... and then it changes to ....out of your country. Uh huh.
I knew a guy who was getting in with a gal. Oh, she is working in the UK now. He sent her money and stuff, drop shipped stuff for her. I warned him... Finally when the FBI contacted him and he found another guy she(?) was doing the same with, he wised up. Had 2K he hadn't laundered for her yet so kept it and wasn't out totally.
Too many out there looking for a free ride, one kind or the other.

Covid frustrations

I use checks and cash. I only use a debit card when ordering via my landline phone. All I see the no cash thing is, as a way for government and companies to track you. Where you go, what you buy, what you own.
Years back, feds came up with this great idea. Lets make everyone who owns food animals register. The reason they said was so if there was a disease outbreak they could track it. It failed to pass. But, my stupid state adopted it. Most of us said go jump. My chickens and horses do not leave this property. I do not show, or sell.
The main reasoning is so they had tabs on all food animals in case of war so they can send troops in to confiscate them to feed the army. There was such uproar the feds backed off.
All I hear is rioting, voting, shootings, case counts...Are we living some Hollywood production?
The count goes up and the idiots who obey other laws up the ying yang pounce on masks as facism?

A major bubonic plague, one of many that occur often. Cases found in Siberia lately. It is spread by fleas on rats and occurs where humans have contact with them and mice. The reason it is called the black death is due to the habit of the dead's skin shading black.

No idea how to post videos on here. But, watched one here from George Carlin. Fit today to a tee. Then got to thinking and looked up Will Rogers. Luved that man. Blamed Willey Post for killing him when he crashed the plane. Anyway...look up Will's Bacon, beans and limousines. He did a radio broadcast around 1930/32. It fits today perfectly. Even down to picking on the President.

Free pick up is expensive.

I was sending boarder to shop at Wallyworld. So thought, hey, go to website and check what they have for price on cherries. First off, there is a short list of what you can get for free pickup. Nothing I buy, but lots of junk foods. Price was 4.99. Yikes! Aldis had ad for 1.99. Skip that. Delivery out here in farm land is nil.
So told boarder, check cherries, maybe went down. He said price was 3.99. So store is jacking up the prices on line to pay for the shopper to shop for you. Therefore free pickup is a lie.
I shops sales. The box store brags lowest ticket price. Yes..if you just grab what you want. But, if you shop sales at other stores, the total will be less. Way less.
The joke is free...like coupons. Rarely use them. Usually for stuff I don't buy anyway. Or a joke..save a dime if you buy two. How about I buy one and save double?
We have a generation or two who are lazy and spoiled. They use Uber eats or such to get restaurant food. The markup is nuts. I don't see it unless one is disabled. Or have no car or way to reach a restaurant and can't walk that far. Otherwise, just plain lazy.
One good thing with covid is people learning how to cook again. Too many waste money eating in restaurants all the time and sometimes eating questionable foods.
We are a jaded nation. Little is special anymore. Restaurants are a treat, they are essential.

I don't know of any around here. Just see on TV families who live in cars or street. I wonder about some homeless. If I lost my farm, I can name several people who would take me in. What are the issues that these homeless have no one that will help? Parents, family, friends, neighbors?
Of course I live in a farm community where we take care of our own. That might make a difference. Is it a matter of drug users, mental cases, nasty people, users or what? There has to be a reason for some to be homeless. I hear some are of their own choosing. With unwed mothers with multiple kids, I see the problem to offer shelter.
Anyway, sad that some have no one who cares.

Darned if I can identify it anymore. Dribs and drabs, filed for future reference, condiments, fruits, lunch meat and eggs. I want a frig with rotating shelves. Once a month they move to the rear and the next objects get dumped down the back into a trash bin.

Covid frustrations

I am so tired of watching and worrying about covid. Colds and flu at least we get a break in summer. This crap just keeps going on and on. Now we have the economy crying to open, people get cabin fever and all the careless people spreading it. Young people who don't care if they get it, nothing will stop them from partying. Is that all young think about these days?
Social responsibility has flown out the window. Selfish rules.
My poor boarder is restricted when home. Stay out of my way. Wear a mask. Talk to me from the other room. I don't go to town. No stores. Order on the net and won't get stuff because they tack on higher prices or shipping. No car shows, cosplays, flea markets, rendezvous, resale shopping. Even my guy curtails his visits. He may have it, I may have it..neither of us wants it.
Masks are curtailing freedom. Yeah... then why do you wear clothes, have a drivers license, wear seat belts, stand in line?
If everyone would just wear masks, stay home and distance for two weeks, we could cut the cases climbing. Then we ALL could get our life back.
But, you go party, I can just sit home alone. Have fun.

I have a genius IQ. And think that it is the flip side of madness. The higher the IQ, the less able one is to adjust to the real world. Normal is comfortable. Able to adjust, deal with daily tasks, be content.
I feel sorry for the super IQ people. They never have peace. Their minds go constantly, trying to discover, invent, reason..answer questions no human can.

When mom was young, she volunteered for 20 different charities. One day, since she was a bookkeeper, she noticed that the board were paid salaries. ? She started asking around and found out that one percent was what actually went to the folks. So as her terms came up, she quit them all.
I talked to a neighbor who had put his land in a trust. I said what about the charity part. He laughed. All he had to give was 5%. He said send a check to a college for $500 and good to go.
Too many charities occupy massive building. Offices filled with expensive furniture. Trips to the islands for conventions. As far a medical research, how many great finds have been made by them as opposed to some doctor caring to find an answer.
Too much money is wasted on ads, property and CEO salaries.
I never under stood research grants. So..I will pay you 200K a year to sit and try to find something. And as soon as you do, you're out of a job. Oh yeah, great incentive that is! All the researcher has to do is prove he is onto a good direction to get more cash. Nice guaranteed lifetime job, eh?
I give to NO ONE that solicits me. One time I gave to NPR. $40 pledge, ten a month. And they spent it all sending me fancy mailings 2 a week asking for more.When I finally got ticked, I told them no more. Greedy so and sos.
Gave once to the Redbud Indian Res. THEY need it!
Now I will only hand money to someone I know needs it. Send a check to the Sheriffs office for PPE and the K9 unit. At least know they use it correctly.

I remember when country stores had chairs and guys sitting drinking coffee. Barber shops with the guys hanging just to chat. Taverns used to be where neighbors and families got together. Booze was not the main draw.
Now it is bars filled with young trying to get drunk as fast as they can. Or crowds all watching 6 TVs and not talking.
I fail to understand why humans are so attached to booze. I was asked once, since I don't drink, how can I have fun. If I need being drunk as an excuse maybe shouldn't be doing that at all.
Used to drink some. Now I can get the same dizzy nausea just getting up too fast in the morning. Or catch a cold and feel the same. And I thought drinking was fun?

All taxpayers will pay. And if not, pay through higher prices. I remember when I was maybe 15. Dad told me, you are going to go with me to the barber. Watch how he cuts my hair because you are going to start doing it. I will not pay TWO dollars for a hair cut! So I did and cut his hair from then on. Ended up cutting everybodys hair. I do my own my whole life. Since it is long, all needs is bangs. I even do the blonde..quit shops long ago. Pay $20 to get ignored half the time.
Dad went through the inflation in Germany. He said the US would get there too. He was right.
Used to make $1.35 an hour, take a twenty and come home with 3 bags of groceries. Now a 20 buys 3 or 4 items.
People whine, we want 15 an hour to sling burgers. Fine, now everyone jacks up prices and you stay behind the eight ball. Except now they put in self service ordering and robots. So enjoin unemployment.
The higher the wage, the higher prices. The one percent will not reduce their profits.

Yes..where are our fuel pills to heat our house, food pills you take once a day, flying cars, no disease and the rest. I told mom, the only advance we got was we now have OUTSIDE wood stoves!
I see that most of what we have is fruition of DaVincis drawings. If you examine computers, cars, and what have you, none is really new, just advances on old ideas. Look to the 1800s and see the base for today.
I remember 2001 a space odyssey. When it came out it was unbelievably so far in the future. I remember Y2K and now that is 20 years ago!
I think humans are regressing back into the trees!

Now it is the 20-30 year old who are getting covid. Hope that beer in a bar was worth it. Word is it may also cause brain damage. I would say too late for those fools.
The numbers keep going up and the death rate is too. Not as bad because the younguns don't get as sick. But, when it may affect your heart, lungs, brain, blood...give you chronic problems, being young and sickly doesn't sound like a goal to me.
It is so simple to just wear a mask. Everyone do it, social distance and knock the crap out and be done. All the selfish ones are doing is making it drag on.Two weeks of masks and stay home and we all get free again.

I am so sick and tired of this bull that wearing a mask is against my constitutional rights. They can't tell ME what to do.
Oh really? Try walking down the street naked. How about no shirt no shoes no entry in store windows?(always wondered about the pants thing) We are a nation of laws. Laws for permits, laws for licenses, laws and more laws.
So why can't they tell us to wear masks?
There is a virus out there. There can be disastrous risks to getting it. That is truth. I take care in winter to try to avoid catching colds or the flu. Doubly so covid. There is an old saying of your rights end at the tip of my nose. If you don't care if you get it, good..go kiss a covid spreader. But, don't pretend wearing one is against your constitutional rights, cause it isn't. You are just being a jerk cause you don't like it.
Laws are passed for the good of all, not just you. They are passed and enforced to protect the majority against the selfish few. Drive without a license and get fined. Repeatedly shoot a gun in the air in a crowd and a cop will by on you like a duck on a June bug.Beat a kid or other human and get arrested. Steal, get drunk and rowdy and tell the cops it is your right.
Wearing a mask makes sense. For all. For others and for self. If you think you are above everyone else, go walk into Walmart naked. Tell them it is your constitutional right. But, warn me so I can get a good video to post on the net.

Easy cause don't have one and never will. I use my landline. Carry a pre-paid burner flip phone for emergencies. Better than a life line. And cheaper. I hate texting. Especially to someone with a smartphone. Replying.......you have mail...argh...still replying...you have mail...ENOUGH already. I am trying to pick out letters, can't you give me a chance!
The only use I see for cell phones is in the woods or on the road. Try and find a payphone on the interstate when your car breaks down.
I am not big on phone talking anyway. I feel guilty..mom was alone and used to call me 6 times a day..are you watching PBS, NO mom, I was on the roof. Came running down when outside bell went off.
Wish now she could call me. Wish I had giving her more of my time. Life sucks.

I rarely want to see a movie again. But, watched Eastwoods spaghetti westerns over and over. Liked the music so much I bought the albums for Good/Bad/Ugly and Hangem high. Still crazy over the music. Ennio sure knew how to capture the essence.

I have warned for years about the risks to air travel. We have people fly to countries with poor health risks and fly home before being symptomatic. Now we see. The viruses have flown home to roost.
China seems to be horrid for lax health issues, like wet markets. Imagine going to your local grocery here and instead of the meat department we know...they have set the meat, uncovered on tables, in the heat of the parking lot. Talk about screaming bloody murder!
I blame the economics of tourism. Once the globe depended on manufacturing, farming and some local service. Then poor areas lit onto tourism. Now too much of the world depends on people visiting and shopping, staying, eating and partying.
This virus has damped tourism. So now certain folks, dont care if people get sick or die. As long as they make money. And the bigger the company, they more they push it.
Perhaps if greed lessened the world could be a bit safer.

A swat gets their attention. It needs to be mild, not a beating. With a toddler, take their hand and snap your fingers in their palm. Glare at them and tell them NO, I mean it.
With an older child, a swat on the butt. Never use any instrument. Never slap in the face. My mom turned her head at the wrong time and ended up with a bloody nose from her mother.
Mom used to swat. Til I got too big and ran away til we both ended up laughing. Dad I don't remember ever hitting me. But, he could terrify with a look. First time I bugged him, got the "look" over the glasses if he was reading. Second was the bellow. Third was the fist on the table. Never found out what 4th was cause I was gooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnneeee.

I am taking a knee for homeless vets. And those old people in crummy nursing home that get neglected. Or maybe those people who fought along side us in foreign wars and then got "left behind".
Maybe I will take a knee for migrant workers slaving in the hot sun picking the vegetables that fill our stores.
Or the poor Asians who sew those cheap clothes in sweat shops.
I will NOT take a knee for criminals, hoodlums, gangstas, wastrels or poor me's.
