Can't help you out on the turntable, but the speakers will probably run you somewhere in the neighborhood of 150-200 pounds for a good 5.1 surround sound. Creative labs are decent; same with Harmon. Running a set of Klipsch myself but they took them off the market a while back. Great sound.
Never again with Ford! Had Ford vans for the last 30 years but no more. 6 cyl getting 12 mpg, trans out at 3 yrs and a week (3 yr warranty, of course) and brakes shot every 15 K miles. Time to try something new!
Funny you should bring this up. Just had it happen to me a week or so ago. Ever heard of Dave Barnes? I hadn't. Was checking out a site for the Rockford "On the Waterfront" festival and they had one of his songs playing as he was going to be there that weekend. Never heard of the guy before, but went and bought the album immediately. Great music, great voice. The song that really caught my ear was "Until You". Check out his web site and you can hear it there if you haven't already. Really beautiful.
Well thought out response! Every country seems to have its own quirks and thats not a bad thing. America is so big half the time we can't agree on matters of import. But, we vote on it, and abide by the majority decision. We don't necessarily like it, but we ABIDE by it.
We/I tend to get a little riled when someone from another country bashes our government or as lately our voting process because I'm not quite sure you really get it. I'm clueless as to how your elections/government runs things in your part of the world so how could I possibly have the arrogance to tell you "this is the way it should be done" or "this is the guy you need to elect!" If you haven't lived it/grown up with it don't think you could really understand how we operate here.
Humility isn't a bad thing in and of itself and yeah, sometimes we as americans (our government) tend to poke our nose where it doesn't belong. But, whats the alternative? Standing on the sidelines and be a spectator? Someone has to act eventually and I don't see any other country/nation jumping up and volunteering. The United Nations has always been a joke. When one vote in the security council can stop ANYTHING from happening it became totally useless other than as a CS site for the governments to vent!
And yeah, we do take a lot of things for granted. But honestly, I've travelled a lot of the world and NO country I've seen has the standard of living that we have here in the states! We expect a lot because we have alot. Think thats a shock for a lot of americans when we travel abroad. (Personally, I enjoy the diversity!)
Finally, I just wish everyone here would just quit arguing over this. Whether you agree with the thread or not just let it be. The idea was for we americans to join together to show solidarity. It's who and what we are. Sorry if you don't like it but thats the way it goes. I'm sure I could criticize some of the things people do from every country out there if I looked.
Hi Lucky. Apologize, explain why you did what you did, and move on. They'll either accept it for what it is or hold a grudge and you have NO control over that.
Good for you!! You get out of life what you put into it. Sometimes really bad things happen to really nice people. It's just life! Hopefully we eventually come out as better/stronger people. The one thing it definitely does is to change your value system; whats important and what isn't
RE: Medical Breakthrough
Nope! I'm content with who and what I am. Besides, it sounds as if your talking about Prozak!!
