Guess I'm the lucky one then. My mom is still going strong at 85. I don't know if it was the best thing she ever said, but its something I remember all the time. We were having coffee in her kitchen. All of of sudden, in the middle of our conversation, she looked up and says. " Don't know how this happened. I've got a 25 year old mind in a 70 year old body." Really made me rethink the whole aging thing.
Don't quite understand that attitude in some women. Opening a door, ect. is just showing courtesy and respect. Why would any women make a comment like that? Seriously wierd!! And your right, that would be the last date!
You have to hand it to Obama tho. He's a sharp cookie! While all the other people running were getting their campaign support from special interests, he built his war chest from individual donations. He's young, smart, and more importantly computer savvy. Now thats hes got his internet donation program up and running (and running very well), lo and behold, no more special interest donations! Others are in no position financially to meet/agree to his position.
I agree with what you said but I think it goes deeper then that. We've become the "throw away" society. If it doesn't make you happy, get something new. Seems to all be about the "me!" A good marriage/relationship takes a lot of work. Its not all fun and games; just like everyday life.
Understand what your saying. Unfortunately, a whole lot of kids have parents who just don't have the time for them. But then, when the kid turns out bad or gets in trouble, its "not my fault!" When in point of fact it is. Its heartbreaking.
If you don't have the time to teach kids respect then I'm glad you don't have kids too. It comes with the territory. Kids have to be taught everything from an early age. And shown by example. TV is a form of entertainment, not much of a teaching tool. I think thats a lot of the problems we have here with kids; the parents are so busy trying to make a living or making ends meet that they don't spend the time needed to know and supervise their kids
Morning all! Don't think there is a breaking point in the US. A lot of us don't have a choice. I have to have a truck for tools and have to go where the work is so its grin and bear it. Unfortunately, it means I have to raise my prices and pass the cost on. I think the gas prices will settle down some after the dollar starts to strengthen. Alot of the price increase has to do with investors pumping up the price of crude as a hedge against the strength of the dollar.
Great Alex! An upbeat thread. I had a fantastic relationship. Many, wonderful years till I lost her to cancer. Still trying to cope but I wouldn't change the time we had for anything in this world.
I agree with you froggy, wholeheartedly. Didn't mean to imply that neither is a complete person. More like the two of you compliment each other in all ways. Its a wonderful feeling.
RE: Read Any Good...
If you like horror, try stephen king's "Duma Key." Best he's written in a long time.
