RE: Read Any Good...

If you like horror, try stephen king's "Duma Key." Best he's written in a long time.

RE: what about Mama

Guess I'm the lucky one then. My mom is still going strong at 85. I don't know if it was the best thing she ever said, but its something I remember all the time. We were having coffee in her kitchen. All of of sudden, in the middle of our conversation, she looked up and says. " Don't know how this happened. I've got a 25 year old mind in a 70 year old body." Really made me rethink the whole aging thing.

RE: why are men so afraid of showing their tears?

I think all men cry, but we're trained/indoctrinated from birth that its not the "manly" thing to do so we're embarrassed when we do.

RE: How handy are you?

Lets see, this could be fun.

construction - been doing that for a lot of years. Built houses, banks, stores, ect. Can do most all.

cooking - found I love it! Tapas, Wok, bake, ect. How about choe pastry with apricot/cherry brandy sauce smothered in chantilly creme!

sewing - just learned how to sew on buttons. Out of necessity!!

photograpy - lots! Especially candid shots with a telephoto lens. Did some developing too.

autos - nope. I'll pay somebody to fix my cars!

RE: This Year's Dream Vacation

Right on girl!! I'm heading to Crete in July! Been looking forward to this for a loooonnnnngggg time. Hopefully Egypt next year.

RE: old romance

Don't quite understand that attitude in some women. Opening a door, ect. is just showing courtesy and respect. Why would any women make a comment like that? Seriously wierd!! And your right, that would be the last date!

RE: When you don't like a person

thx

RE: SOLUTION To High Oil Prices!

Great idea, except the rest of the world would accuse us of being unhumanitarian. Can't blame the children of the OPEC nations.

RE: When you don't like a person

I guess I'm just an optimist. I like everyone unless they give me a reason do dislike them. Variety is wonderful!

RE: Family and Friends

Btw, you've changed your pic again. Nice!thumbs up

RE: Family and Friends

Hi Portiea! For me its family. No matter what I can count on them anywhere, anytime, and anyplace.

RE: major policy change

You have to hand it to Obama tho. He's a sharp cookie! While all the other people running were getting their campaign support from special interests, he built his war chest from individual donations. He's young, smart, and more importantly computer savvy. Now thats hes got his internet donation program up and running (and running very well), lo and behold, no more special interest donations! Others are in no position financially to meet/agree to his position.

RE: Running on empty

I agree with what you said but I think it goes deeper then that. We've become the "throw away" society. If it doesn't make you happy, get something new. Seems to all be about the "me!" A good marriage/relationship takes a lot of work. Its not all fun and games; just like everyday life.

RE: Life's Transitions

I hear ya. Same boat myself. Really changes your perspective on life.

RE: Life's Transitions

Maybe a special catagory. Death of your child. Been through most of the others except i (of course) k and j. Everything else pales in comparison.

RE: Civility-A lost art?

Btw, good thread; good answers; good communication.

RE: Civility-A lost art?

Understand what your saying. Unfortunately, a whole lot of kids have parents who just don't have the time for them. But then, when the kid turns out bad or gets in trouble, its "not my fault!" When in point of fact it is. Its heartbreaking.

RE: Civility-A lost art?

If you don't have the time to teach kids respect then I'm glad you don't have kids too. It comes with the territory. Kids have to be taught everything from an early age. And shown by example. TV is a form of entertainment, not much of a teaching tool. I think thats a lot of the problems we have here with kids; the parents are so busy trying to make a living or making ends meet that they don't spend the time needed to know and supervise their kids

RE: Set in your ways due to living alone

Brings new meaning to "hot dogs for dinner!"

RE: What song are you listening to?

Santana - Black Magic Woman

RE: Gas prices keep climbing.........

Morning all! Don't think there is a breaking point in the US. A lot of us don't have a choice. I have to have a truck for tools and have to go where the work is so its grin and bear it. Unfortunately, it means I have to raise my prices and pass the cost on. I think the gas prices will settle down some after the dollar starts to strengthen. Alot of the price increase has to do with investors pumping up the price of crude as a hedge against the strength of the dollar.

RE: best thing about the future is

Perfect answer! Every day something new, something exciting. Possiblities are endless. Just need to be open to it.

RE: Past relationship

Great Alex! An upbeat thread. I had a fantastic relationship. Many, wonderful years till I lost her to cancer. Still trying to cope but I wouldn't change the time we had for anything in this world.

RE: The vending Machine game.

Inserts a copy of the Koran

RE: Another dumb poll

Cats. Love their independent attitude!!

RE: Hey

Hiya Tony!

RE: Women, ask Guys what you've always wanted to know.

I agree with you froggy, wholeheartedly. Didn't mean to imply that neither is a complete person. More like the two of you compliment each other in all ways. Its a wonderful feeling.
