maybe it's just the excessive makeup, but i have to say Cher is the oldest looking 17 year old I have ever seen!! :::: she says hurriedly changing her profile pic to one from many years ago and trying to pass it off as current::::laugh:
sounds like an awful lot of work .. and suffering , ie.to be drowned, for the good people on earth- (surely there were one or two, after all 'God' did create them? ). wouldn't it have been easier just to smite them all , and start again from scratch with a better prototype?
only ever saw it in a place i worked in , in Glasgow many moons ago- heart attack on a plate, but if you like your food dripping in fat, then you're sorted!!
but don't 'good Catholics' believe that the bible is 'the word of the lord'?? Either it is or it isn't- not just taking bits from it to suit your own opinions
while I have done both- I think drink affects society in general more- smoking can directly affect the person doing it, and has been shown to affect others- i think massively more damage is done by excesses of alcohol- .... physical effects on your own body, random violence towards strangers, death by drink driving to you and others, domestic violence..... the list is endless- smoking can cause problems for you and those closely associated with you over the long term... but you only have to spend one night in any A&E to see the problems alcohol can cause instantly for you and others, when taken in irresponsible amounts.
The Scots play on their reputation for being mean.....if you showed up at teatime in Scotland we'd say..... 'you'll have had your tea then??''......- meaning- you're not getting anything ye cheeeky get!!
some of the sayings that the yanks used to love when we used them....'' his bladders too close to his eye''... or 'that would bring a tear to a glass eye''( do we have an eye thing going on ) lol one phrase I loved in Texas was..... ' I'm madder than a pissed on monkey'!!
Happy Birthday K- I hope the party is fab- some of the best nights I've ever had have been 'snowed in' ones- even if we are not there in body- you know we are in spirit
thanks- but does that mean that eg a writer, is completely exempt from tax regardless of how much they make?? I thought it was only for the first €xxxx of their income?? that surely proves my point?
have just been checking to see how far it is from Wexford to Clare- seems the mileage sites are being a bit cagey!! as I told you- I won't know till the day before, how busy i might be at work on the actual day, so I was seeing if there was a chance I could still drive in that time- seems to vary from 80 to 120 miles-I know that my sense of direction is fairly ::koff:: and i have been known to get lost, but that still seems a bit off.
Given that I'm not 19 and searching for a party in Hillhead ( oh the memories!), do the same rules still apply for arriving 3 hours late and expecting a sofa/ floor to kip on??
I can, to a certain extent, understand the artist tax deal, but are there limits?- I have surfed the net to try to get info on exactly what the tax exemption is for artists in Ireland, but can;'t seem to get real info- i can see a struggling artist trying to get their business going, getting a break, but does that extend to those that are very successful? if you are making €2 million a year, do you really need a tax break on the first 50 or 60 K?? most of us would be happy to make that at all, never mind tax free?? As I say- I can't find real numbers, so maybe I am completely off base, but I do seem to recall something in the news about Bertie coming under the 'artist' tax free bracket for his book??
In fairness, I can understand anyone, even the very rich, wanting to avoid 85% tax( ?? !) but surely making it that high and therefore encouraging them take ALL their tax revenue out of the country , is a little backward?? ( I have absolutely no knowledge of the tax laws,so I am assuming the current laws means that Ireland gets no taxes from them now?)I'm sure you will correct me if ( far from the first time ) I am wrong!!
not quite sure what you are saying here, but sadly( and, again sadly, in the light of recent reports that you should be careful what you say online , I won't go into detail, as I want to keep my own job), sometimes, having a caring family 'nearby' can go against you and limit the services available to you
I think this cold weather brings the reality of it- like you said- not having sky tv,( to watch on your 60'' tv!) does not count as poverty- having to choose between food and keeping warm in this weather, is one sign of real poverty for those that are facing it
absolutely- I don't agree with welfare fraud on any level- it is fraud, regardless, and the idea that it is acceptable and 'I am entitled' makes them just as culpable as the bankers etc ( though,in fairness, not quite as rich!!) what is a disgrace, however, is that the welfare rates are being cut now, meaning that all those people who have been working for years, sometimes at minimum wage, because they have a proper work ethic, are the ones who are getting the rate cut, along with the ones who have been sitting at home, fully able to work, but who have been living the same lifestyle, because( for that exact reason) they are too bone lazy to work. ( for the record, I am not, thankfully one of those who are fully dependent on welfare, so it's not a 'poor me' statement)
For those that were on welfare in the 'good years' for truly legitimate reasons, please do not think I am including you in the 'bone idle' group.
