does it have epaullets??( I KNOW I have spelled that wrong )- if so, then it counts as for Mr Claus- while I would like to sit on his lap and ask for a present ( no, not that kind! ) he's not really my type!
)no fresh snow here but it's bludderly freezing- schools are meant to be open tomorrow but the kids are praying for more snow! to OP- I LOVE thunder and lightening ( when I'm in a cosy and safe place!
well, what a day I had- with all the snow and ice around here, poor little me was forced to endure being driven around by some handsome army men in their jeeps!! It was just like being a TD, except we were actually working, and the minibar seemed to be frightfully understocked!! Let it snow, let it snow....
i do think you are on the money in a lot of what you say but please redefine your opinions on the public sector- many of us pS workers are not employed on the terms you think we are ,and taking the brunt of the ( justifiable) anger of the the public, who sometimes think it is our fault that resources we can give themhave been cut , is extremely demoralising. we are not all on full time, guaranteed jobs
How many of the 'non guaranteed pension job ' people were sitting at home this weekend, enjoying the snow and will do the same this week, because they 'couldn't get out in the snow?' well some of us were out risking our lives on the icy roads because we have a job to do that we know is important and neccessary, while I realise there is a huge amount of high level waste of money in the PS, those of us ( I suspect the majority) at the coal face of the PS are working our asses off for the people of Ireland and it is so unfair to see this kind of slagging off by being lumped in with wasters that earn the big money.
is there any facility for voting for someone that has a clue about the job they will have to do?? I wouldn't let my ( very efficient in their job) milkman do my hair cut, or an accountant rewire my house. I like to think I am very reliable, up to date and capable in my chosen profession, but would you let me ...fix your computer problems?/file your taxes?/ service your car. I hope not( trust me!! ) why? because I know my limitations and I know I couldn't do it to an even reasonable standard! why should we expect less from the people that have a huge influence on our lives and financial stability? i want an eg 'Minister for finance or Education' that has a long and proven successful track record in those areas. Is that too much to expect?
Tracy was on Xfactor last year, Alison was on BB years ago- with Kate Lawlor, you missed Lembit Opek ( politician, was engaged to a 'cheeky girl' ) and Sheryl Gascoine- they are out Jenny is a comedienne( and on 'grumpy old women') Gillian is the infamous 'DR' that looks through poo to see what you eat I'm sure she's not really Scottish ( at least I'm hoping so, she's too embarassing for words!!
I have always thought 'if you don't vote, then you can't complain about what you get' but now i think.. if I can't trust anyone that is up for my vote, then what do I do? In the current climate of politicians, i think, maybe cynically, they are all just out for what they ( personally) can get financially from being in power, rather than what they can do for us , the people, and the country, and am at a bit of a loss as to how my vote can do good, until things radically change in politics?
I bit my tongue on your comments over the last year or so because i believed we were essentially on the same page and I was right for once.but... The public sector has a huge number of workers for a reason.. because there are huge and increasing, because of the recession, numbers of people that need that service! as there are in the private sector. just that some jobs in both sectors aren't quite ESSENTIAL and we could do without them for days/months/years, depending on the situation. others, like the jobs myself and wexlady( IMO and I stand corrected) work in, are essential ( you have your opinion on that, as is your and everyone's right, but my experience is that people get very upset when either of our services are unavailable)-I';m not saying that my or her jobs are 'worthy' or anything, because I am well aware of other 'worthy' jobs, just talking about the issue at hand
mine was much less than 2 1/2 times our income-because 2 1/2 is what they recommended for years before because i knew we couldn't afford more than that. Anyone that took out a massive mortgage based on an unstable job ( please don't say that PS is stable, as I said I have been cut more than once to zero hours) was doing what anyone that bets on the horses does.... gambling!, and should have to take the consequences. As for having kids you can't afford and expect someone to pay for...I totally agree.
RE: Naughy or Nice
y'see.. now I'm really confused.. I try to be good all year... but all I get is shower gel for Christmas. I think I see where I'm going wrong!!
