Got to hate Xmas, over commercialised, especially in Oz, snow scenes & Xmas trees just seem so out of place.
Love to find that place to go to for a week or 2 where that four-letter word beginning with X is not mentioned!
Xmas at the beach taken me a long time to get used to - but I hate all that 'happy families around the big table laden with too much food' sort of stuff? We all know it is the time when families get together, eat and drink too much and argue!
I speak to a lot of people in my job and I am happy to have a couple of days to myself- but some people, family, feel I should 'join in'.
Age comes into it? At 25 I would have expected - we are starting a life together, kids etc. we build our wealth together. (unless he/she has inherited grannies fortune?)
In later years *cough cough* I think I would understand more, especially if you have already 'done the split' - lost half of what you built up in a lifetime?
Been in the position where he had a lot more than I did - yes it became an issue - I would have been a lot happier if he had just your average bank acct/hse/car/boat etc. then it wouldn't have been an issue. But there are 'gold diggers' out there and that's life. Never meant to be.
I would have gladly signed a pre-nuptial - but he is still looking for someone who has what he has. His loss
Captain Paul Watson from Greenpeace who was instrumental in getting the Japanese whalers to the Hague.
Think he has had an interesting life and is someone who has stood by his convictions and made it his goal in life to stop the Japanese 'research' whaling ships.
Can I throw a curve ball and suggest that a woman's age means we 'yack about different things'??
Under 25 - I am sure I wud be on about
a) the latest hottie b) what am I going to wear tonight c) my next holiday??
These days it's -
a) can I still squeeze into my jeans again this winter b) not sure if I am fussed about what he has got in his jeans c) weekends feel like a holiday cos its a break from work??
Have a friend whose first marriage only lasted 3 mths, no idea what happened,I didn't know him then. "She just walked out" but didn't say why she walked out.
He is thrilled now, he is re-married and just had their first wedding anniversary!
Again I think the media plays a big part- especially for young women.
I have a niece who is drop dead gorgeous blonde, she could turn heads at 15 yo.
She is now 18 and has changed her hair colour so many times, last pic on fb she had 'the eyebrow' job, over made up - I thought she looked like a Drag Queen, seriously. OTT.
I think it is the same with most big sporting events now? Like the Olympics, Common Games, World Cup etc.
There is no 'profit' in them now for the host countries and I am not even sure there is the heralded flow-on effect of tourism either.
It is just a waste of taxpayers money, resources to build stadiums, swimming pools, velodromes etc. that are not going to be used to their full capacity again.
Then there is the idea that those funds could and should be used for other infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, roads, water etc. especially in poorer countries.
The Olympics are a rort of the OLYMPIC official company - they make the profit, and the Common Games is a totally outdated concept. We have the Common Games here in 2018 and hand on heart I would struggle to name 7 countries competing.
Then the icing on the cake is - who gives a cr*p who wins gold, are they doing 'illegal drugs'?? Drugs in sports has devalued the 'World No. 1" in my eyes. Too late to find out 3 yrs later that he/she cheated and whoever came 6th was the only person not cheating??
OK - getting off my soapbox now! Catchyalater possums
Hoping to catch some of Wimbledon if I can stay awake thru' the night to watch the 'live' matches. Bit hard when I have to work :(
Now if only Ireland had got to Brasil I might have still been in with a long shot
I am torn between enjoying the spectacle and the poverty and uncomfortable feeling that so many $$$$$ are being spent on just a couple of weeks of a soccer game??
