No I cannot! As long as there are people living on this earth, there will always be some religion in one form or another.

Interesting questions Blathin! I do like inquisitive people. I myself tend to question everything...and this is the way we learn.
To give you a short and sweet answer to the above... I don't think the "higher consciousness" only comes with maturity but what lifestyle we've been living and how fast we have grown.
As you say, some kids are born gifted and are more aware than others. Some elderly people never grow spiritually.
And I know quite a few..gifted kids and immature people.
Also...some suddenly get a "spiritual awakening" through a trauma of some sort (NDE/ OBE/ a stroke/ drugs...) and it changes their life completely.
You could say that I have experienced this kind of a "awakening", but through some other kind of experience (deep meditation with OBE) and other events.
I was trained in the andean shamanic practises/energy medicine in which we had to "die" consciously. (20 years ago).with no substances whatsoever. I went into altered states of consciousness and left the earth at the speed of light. Then....that's when everything came clear to me. My questions were being answered at long last. And I repeated that journey several times with a different experience.
Now, dear lady B, you may wonder if I saw anybody while I was out there?
NO! Only bright lights and energy...difficult to explain.
Believers will say that they saw Jesus or whomever fits their belief but...this is only a perception.
Anyway, my life changed since then...lifestyle and everything else I mentioned and more besides. I have had more intuitions, have been able to communicate with the horses I used to work with while doing some healing to them. And also with people, of course!
Ok...from my own experience, rather than making it a generality...
When you raise your frequency, having done a considerable amount of work on yourself, it brings many changes. It has for me anyway!
Eg..you start looking at the world differently.. You experience a shift in your spiritual belief system, and later the core beliefs.
Suddenly noise and crowds start bothering you... You let go of aggression and anger... You take responsibility for your own life... You live in the PRESENT and have dealt with the past.. You FORGIVE... You change your lifestyle and unhealthy habits.. Etc..etc..
Then you might suddenly get a spiritual awakening and have more awareness.
Then comes a point when you don't need rituals/prayers or whatever...as you can create your own life and manifest with intent and thoughts.
At this point your questions are answered from your own source self connection. Thoughts and ideas suddenly come to your mind...through meditation and also without. Maybe through music or artwork?
All this has happened to me over a period of 15 years.
Friends who appealed to me before are now out of my life. We're just not on the same frequency or vibes.

Anyway, this was only an overview of the 5 main religions but, of course, there are many more, that I know of, who also have their own beliefs.
The main point of this thread (and my blog) was the questions I asked? WHY???
I quite agree with your statement and view point Blathin but... By "spiritual beings" it is not meant as we are, here on earth, but B EFORE we occupied our physical body.
How we behave and evolve once here on this earth is all up to us. There are many paths to choose from until we exit this world again.
I do realise that Bod but... Looking at it as a whole, if we had, say 10 different religious leaders sitting around a table and discussing this topic, I'm sure there would be a fight to the death!
They would be all pointing fingers at each other and none would back off.
