RE: It ends February 1st.

Therein lies the problem Track. Holidays abroad just because it's warmer, credit card use , Christmas overspending, the list is endless.

If you can't afford it don't buy it and in all probability you don't actually need it either.

RE: crazy britain.

The U.K. has agreed to assist in upgrading Albania's prison system in exchange for Albanian refugees so seems like a fair trade handshake

RE: crazy britain.

I'd be more concerned about money being spent than money coming in to our coffers.

Over £6 million a day being spent on incoming refugees.

Some 12,000 Albanians have arrived in the UK after crossing the Channel so far this year, of which 10,000 are single, adult men. This is compared to 50 in 2020.

Now that's crazy.sigh

RE: crazy britain.

Peatlands are a unique ecosystem that support biodiversity and serve as carbon sinks. Peat releases huge amounts of stored carbon dioxide when it is harvested, which adds to greenhouse gas levels. Peat mining is effectively unsustainable – it grows back at just 1 mm a year.

Basically speaking peatlands are great if left to collect carbon but if industrially harvested they release carbon into the atmosphere. A no win situation.handshake

RE: crazy britain.

No just concerned about carbon emissions just like the U.S. is now finally making changes.

I stood out in it as our land is so dry and I was celebrating the deluge. Fed up with the continual watering so was happy for nature to help us out.applause cheering

RE: Summer solstice

The festival has had a wet start, as heavy rainfall and showers began at Worthy Farm on Wednesday morning. A torrential downpour lasted for about 15 minutes from 11.30 am before easing to slow, consistent rainfall, but forecasters are expecting wet weather at the site in Somerset to ease as the music begins on Friday.3 days ago.

I live about half an hour away.grin

RE: Cataract Surgery

Thank goodness for the N.H.S as it's free over here. Cost privately is about £2,000 for just one eye.

Laser eye surgery is commonplace here especially in the elderly. Pleased that you are happy with your surgery.
