I totally understand where you are coming from Jac . We have brown [ though I despise the use of said word to describe a person ] in our family from the war . Never been a problem with acceptance ,but I think the person concerned hasn't had that smooth a journey sadly.
I 'm never bothered by anyone's skin colour and to be honest some "black " men are far more polite than some white men that I have known .
I had the greatest respect for our late Queen .a woman of stature ,grace and humanity,the likes of whom will never grace us with her presence as she was the end of an era.
That doesn't mean that I have to have the same respect for all Royals. Same as you don't like me.
