RE: Thread for those climate change believers.

Deforestation?????????????????????????? In Europe?????????????????

You need to get a map of the World .95% of global deforestation occurs in the tropics. Brazil and Indonesia alone account for almost half. After long periods of forest clearance in the past, most of today's richest countries are increasing tree cover through afforestation.Guess how long that will take.doh

RE: Thread for those climate change believers.

Tell that to the Australians .

RE: Thread for those climate change believers.

Yeh right ,o who or what do you think is responsible for the Rhine and the Loire drying up.doh

RE: Thread for those climate change believers.

These images are Germany ,France and the U.K. taken in the past few days. The Rhine drought is causing economic problems as it's river is used for transportation. Europe is also coping with excessive wild fire damage too.

All properties are insured wherever they are built. If you had a brain you'd be registered dangerous.grin

RE: Thread for those climate change believers.

This is just one link out there relating to climate change and it's from your own country so wake up and smell the coffee as it will impact the next generation if not you.

RE: Thread for those climate change believers.

It's pretty obvious that you don't think that climate change is happening.Sad really when some places in the World are really suffering .

It's not been too clever in the U.K recently and we are going through excessive heat and drought unheard of as has Australia so actually nothing to mock.

Morning DeeDee wave

From your last post I would hesitate to say that she may well be afraid of him, but she also may still have feelings for him. You cannot switch your emotions on and off like a tap hence her desire not to break completely.

As a parent she must consider the safety and mental health of her 2 young boys which sadly will be affecting them. Trying to cope with all this and also her own personal feelings must be extremely difficult and stressful and she really does need to seek professional help.

Friends support is fine and admirable but this needs to be dealt with by professionals for both people involved as he appears to have some serious issues also.

Not strictly speaking true. We are not totally self sufficient as this data explains.

RE: what can bring peace

Respect for others goes a long way .Look for the rainbow ,never the storm.

Quote from John Stuart Mills.

“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth a war, is much worse. When a people are used as mere human instruments for firing cannon or thrusting bayonets, in the service and for the selfish purposes of a master, such war degrades a people. A war to protect other human beings against tyrannical injustice; a war to give victory to their own ideas of right and good, and which is their own war, carried on for an honest purpose by their free choice, — is often the means of their regeneration. A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. As long as justice and injustice have not terminated their ever-renewing fight for ascendancy in the affairs of mankind, human beings must be willing, when need is, to do battle for the one against the other.”

RE: Family values

Not at all as it is just that ,a number. Unfortunately some people are old before their time so to speak whereas others are young at heart.

It's all about attitudehead banger

RE: Family values

So what age do you personally consider someone to be old?

Historically, the United Nations has defined an "older" person as anyone 60 years or older, regardless of that person's individual history or where in the world they live. "Everyone became old at 60."

In the UK the pensionable age was 60 for women and 65 for men and it was called an "old age pension" dunno

RE: Movies, your favorite(s) and why?

I didn't say accurate , I said detail. It's a novel of fiction and a love story after all .

Margaret Mitchell only wrote the one novel and it has survived all these years and never been out of print and is still widely read. That in itself is some achievement.

RE: Family values

I guess a lot of this has to do with culture as some have very high moral standards and discipline.

Basically speaking from a Western point of view I would assume that our family values are less restricted and would generally lean towards a family unit and teaching children to be respectful both within the unit and outside.

Personally speaking I don't envy anyone bringing children up in this day and age to be honest.handshake

Guess we'll have to sit back and wait to find out who is in No.10 next and see if they can bring us back from the brink. Mind you it's not just the U.K.'s economy at an all time low.

There is a powder keg out there at the moment,I just hope nobody lights it.sigh

Well you said it. Pandemic .....which has caused disruption for over 2 years . Yes it's bad at the moment but it's still a better service than some countries John.
